Hi everyone! Still waiting.

Tuesday March 25th, 2008 * My birthday.

Mar 25, 2008

Hi everyone! It was my birthday today number 43. I had a nice lunch with my family . I noticed some grays peeking through so I picked up some hair coloring. I'll do that when I am finished blogging.(dye my hair)

Did I tell you how hard it is waiting? The doc's coordinator Tina hopes to submit my claim to the insurance company by Friday. Friday? She told me to check back Friday. I keep thinking to myself..they have everything they need now why not submit it ? Then I think since I am soooo impatient to drive one hour and half away to pick up a copy of the paperwork and submit it myself. I may just do that if I can't settle down. I really dislike waiting. I'm the type of person that makes up her mind and goes for it.

This week my kids have off for Spring break. It gets a little crazy at times. My son loves to play this game called Halo. My daughter is a little social butterfly. She gets together with her friends and they hang out. She wants to go to the mall alone or with no adult present and I'm sorry I don't go for that. She is only 13! What does she think she is trying to pull? Both are great kids and both are honor roll students and I'd like to keep it that way.
I guess that is all for now. Still in waiting mode.

Sunday night March 23rd Easter, 2008

Mar 23, 2008

Happy Easter everyone. I had a nice Easter with my family and inlaws. My mom and I made a spiral ham with glaze, potatoes au gratin, string beans w/almonds, carrots and some rolls. Also apple sauce and cranberry sauce. A pretty simple dinner but very nice.

The day was sunny and beautiful and relaxing. The house is clean and the laundry is done. WOW! I'm in heaven.

I am in a waiting mode for my doctor to get all my evaluations together in order to submit to my insurance for approval. I will call my doctor's office Monday to see were we are at. Boy, it is hard waiting.

I will check in again soon. Bye Blog.

Mar 20, 2008

Hi everyone! Pretty normal day. I am in waiting mode. I had to have a stress test Wednesday and I got that done. Today I had an echocardiogram.

I am playing around with is blog and I added some music. If you don't like, then turn it down.

I will post the lyrical interpretation to :
 La Vie En Rose
Hold me close and hold me fast
The magic spell you cast
This is la vie en rose
When you kiss me, Heaven sighs
And though I close my eyes
I see la vie en rose
When you press me to your heart
I'm in a world apart
A world where roses bloom
And when you speak
Angels sing from above
Every day words
Seem to turn into love songs
Give your heart and soul to me
And life will always be
La vie en rose
I thought that love was just a word
They sang about in songs I heard
It took your kisses to reveal
That I was wrong, and love is real
Hold me close and hold me fast
The magic spell you cast
This is la vie en rose
When you kiss me, Heaven sighs
And though I close my eyes
I see la vie en rose
When you press me to your heart
I'm in a world apart
A world where roses bloom
And when you speak
Angels sing from above
Every day words
Seem to turn into love songs
Give your heart and soul to me
And life will always be
La vie en rose

Lots to update. Where do I begin?
I just got results of my endoscopy biopsies. I tested postive for Barretts Esophageas.
I also sat down with my hubby and Mother to explain to them what is going on. They were both supportive. I'm so glad.

Sunday. I'm happy because I just got my washer fixed. I couldn't live without a washer. I have atleast two loads of laundry to do everyday due to my busy household and my 13 year old daughter that changes 3-4 times a day.  I had a very long day Friday. I had a psych, pulmonary, and cardiology consult  in New Jersey. Oh! I forgot ... also a nutritional consult as well. Productive day to say the least. My meeting with Dr. Greenbaum went well. He is pretty much the same doctor I knew from before. Dr. Greenbaum did my orginal double vertical banded gastroplasty and also two hernia surgeries for me. He presented me with two options, The DS and an RNY distal. He says for me he would prefer doing the DS. I was leaning toward the DS anyway. He explained to me all the risks and benefits, He told me since this is a revision and since he will be fixing my hiatal hernia and some diverticulum in my throat and stomach, severe GERD, Barretts...the revision surgery would take about 4 to 5 hours. Wow! He anticipates scar tissue (I had a total of 4 major operations, two hernia operations, the VBG, and repari of a small bowel obstruction). He will also remove my appendix and gallbladder. Again...Wow. I am still digesting all the info I received from today. The cardiologist ordered a three hour stress test and echocardiogram. I dont have any heart history at all except for ONE time my blood pressue went up to 167/80 and I had a severe migraine. You see I most often have low blood pressure which is good as long as it doesn't go to low. Anyway, the process has been started. I will just need to complete the final testing before they submit to Blue Cross/Blue Shield Personal Choice.

The actual experience of Friday's events at the end of the day was overwhelming for me. I was so tired when I got home around 7pm I took a nap woke up again around midnight and then went back to sleep.  Believe or not I am still digesting all the info I received yesterday. Dr. Greenbaum explained the DS to me. He explained how HE does the operation. He says since I am a revision they may have to remove the circular band and then cut into my stomach like resectioning it and close the incision in the oposite way the previous cut was  made. Bascially my pouch would be my stomach and the rest removed. However, he adds an extra piece of by tissue to form a flap to go over the incision in the stomach almost like a a large blanket or band aid to prevent leaks. Then he adds a drain and he is it is a controlled drain just incase there is a leak it would drain out. Confusing but it makes sense. If the DS can't be done because of unforseen massive scar tissue then he would revert to a RNY distal.  However, if you had a DS, RNY, gastric sleeve or lapband I think this is a very personal decision and you decide what is best for you. I am noone to judge. For me personally, it is all about losing weight , We all are in same department there ...all about losing the weight for a healthier me and a healthier you. I need to be healthier and feel better for me and my family.

I can't sleep. No I am wondering which surgeon is the best choice for me. Is it Dr. Thomas Magnuson of Johns Hopkins or is it my orginal surgeon Dr. Greenbaum of Lourdes? Right now, I am leaning more towards Dr. Greenbaum. He has done my VBG in March 1991 and two hernia surgeries. One very complex. I guess this is normal going back and forth. I was concerned because Greenbaum is two hours away from me and Magnuson is just one hour. Either one would be a great choice. My PCP wants me to go back to Dr. Greenbaum. He has an excellent reputation.Oh well! I am going to try to get some sleep.
