Smaller Clothes & Meat
Sep 28, 2011
...and I actually fit into their XL yoga pants and knit tops!!! but had to get 2X for their compression work out pants.
I love the compression pants because my flabby, cottage cheese thighs don't show through!
I was like shocked the XL shirt fit!

Maybe they run big at Old Navy or their XL is really a 1X??
Gosh I will be sooo happy to get out of plus size clothes!
The selection is still limited with plus sizes and it will be REALLY nice to be able to buy some cute clothes.
Its been a long time.
Started meat this week and no problems so far! Yeah!
I've had turkey deli meat, baked chicken and homemade chicken salad.
Going to try eggs tomorrow.
GREAT to not have to depend totally on protein powder and Greek yogurt to meet my daily protein needs!
4 weeks post op
Sep 25, 2011
Feeling much better and no depression or freaked out about my sleeve. Must of just been post op blues.
Can only eat around 1/4 cup of mushies per meal...more if its yogurt or a thick protein shake.
Still tend to want to gulp liquids and often have to remind myself to take smaller swallows.
Hard to change 60 yrs. of eating and drinking habits.
My main incision is still a little tender if I'm on my feet too long but healing up nicely.
Think I will go back to work soon. Getting bored being home so much.
Still struggling to get all my water and protein down.
Not thrilled about food and water journaling but I know I have to do it to stay on track
but some days I just have to take a break from it.
I've been stalled since 10 days out but today I had a 3 lb. weight loss.
I weigh and record my weight every morning. I know, they say you're not suppose to but hey I want to know!

Got some of my smaller jeans out of storage. I've gone down one pant size, from 22 to 20. Yeah!
I don't have any size 18 clothes...those were all thrown out years ago.
I can see I'm looking skinnier...well not "skinny" but you know what I mean.
I will sometimes suddenly notice an area of my body looking different and its like...OH!
You know it dents in instead of out. LOL
68 more pounds to go until I reach my goal.
It's actually possible now thanks to Dr. (I love him) Kemmeter and my sleeve!
Stalled already at 10 days out! (Updated)
Sep 14, 2011
I was losing about 1 - 2 daily but 10 days out it just stopped.
Scale hasn't budged for the last 5 days.
I guess I wasn't expecting that so soon.
Still gaging down the protein shakes.
SOOO sick of them already!
I try to do at least 2 a day with added yogurt or cottage cheese,
a little FF milk and 1 T. powdered milk to boost the protein
up to around 35-40 grams per serving.
Can only get down about 2 T. of mushies every 2 hours.
Still struggling to drink enough water.
This certainly isn't easy but I keep plugging along trying to get through the worst of it.
Feelings of mild depression still wash over me now and again,
but I suppose thats normal considering what I've gone through
and the daily daunting task of staying on top of this new way of being.

9 Days Post Op
Sep 07, 2011
Everyday is a struggle to get the doctor prescribed amount of water & protein in.
I'm almost gagging with the protein drinks now. HATE THEM and their after taste!
I made some homemade chicken soup the other day, skimmed the fat off after cooling,
ran it thru a blender then strained it just to get some wholesome food.
So limited in what they allow us to eat...all this nasty chemical laden stuff and artificial sweeteners.
YUK!
How do they expect you to heal and do well eating this crap?
Feeling depressed, even a little scared thinking what I've done to my body.
I felt at peace prior to my surgery but now I feel like "what have I done to my body?!!"
Not so much that I can't eat large amounts but that I've had more than 3/4 of my stomach
surgically removed!
Its weird and I'm not sure why I'm feeling this way but I know this is my only hope to lose weight.
Just wish I was a stronger person and could of lost the weight on my own.
I'm losing 2 lbs a day! CRAZY!!!

Also had a hiatal hernia repaired at the same time.
I went home day 2 after surgery.
I'm still pretty weak 3 days out.
You read about people being in the hospital a couple days then out shopping etc. in less
than a week out. This is not the case with everybody.
This sugery really knocked the wind out of my sails!
I had GAINED 8 lbs while in the hospital due to all the fluids they pump into you
so don't expect to come home 10 lbs lighter post op. May not always be the case.
So my full time job for the next week is to sip, sip, sip water & protein drinks, walk,
rest, repeat.
Looking forward to getting through this phase.
July 10, 2011 Update
Jul 09, 2011
Since the last time I wrote my insurance co. is now covering the sleeve if your BMI is over 35 with 2 co-morbidities or 40 (I'm just over 40 BMI & 266 lbs)
I had my pro-op visit with Dr. K. and my psych evaluation (passed) a couple weeks ago.
I'm awaiting test results of my nuclear cardiac stress test. Should know the results this week then move on to my 2 week pre-op yuk diet, more pre-op doc visits and surgery date scheduled.
I'm very excited and at peace with my decision to go through with this.
Praying all goes well.

I have yet to even call my insurance company
to see what surgeries they cover.
I want the sleeve but may have to get another choice.
Hope not.
By pass surgeries seem so extreme to me but
I'm desperate to lose weight.
Will try to call BCBS this week.
Meeting at GHP - 4/24/2010
Apr 24, 2010
Went to the information meeting at GHP on Saturday 4/24/2010.
Lee couldn't come with me because he was working out of state.
I got a very good feeling about Dr. Kemmeter!
He seems really nice, down to earth and not at all arrogant like some surgeons.
I want to get the VSG (Sleeve) because I feel its safer than a by-pass procedure.
I don't feel comfortable with the procedures that cause mal-nutrition and
re-route your intestines. Unfortunately my insurance BC/BS doesn't
cover VSG if your BMI is under 50 but I'm going to appeal any denials
and the word is that they might be changing their policy on not covering
the sleeve for people under 50 BMI soon. Please let it be!
If I can't get the sleeve I might have to go with the DS.
I'm excited at the prospect of losing weight and being healthier after
being obese for 35 + years
and yet apprehensive at the same time about risking surgery to lose weight
but I feel this is the only way I will be able to lose substantial weight and keep it off,
thus hopefully increasing the quality and length of my life.
