I'm back (with a new screen name, since I couldnt remember my old one when I re-registered) and trying to get back to basics!
My new husband worked nights for the last 3 years. I work days. I get home at 5pm, he leaves for work at 6:30pm. I 'let go' of my workout routine of heading out for a 1-2hr walk right after work so that I could see my husband for a bit. Unfortunately, I cannot consistently work out in the mornings (I just wont wake up) and unless I workout as soon as I get home, I'm 'done' once I sit down. Unfortunately, the combination of not working out while eating the same amounts let to a 35lb regain that I want to get under control.

For those interested, here's my story:

I am a 40 year old wife and mother of 2 teenagers.

I was very thin as a child and teenager. I didnt gain weight until after I started on birth control and pregnancies. I tried the usual diets, all of which resulted in temporary weight loss quickly follwed by gaining back the weight plus some. My all time high weight was 287 lbs. I finally decided that I needed to do something about my weight when I could no longer play on the floor with my kids without major discomfort. I was tired of watching life instead of participating in it.

At the time of surgery, I had Blue Shield HMO as medical coverage. I went through 6 primary care physicians before I found one who would refer me to the surgery clinic for a consult. It took a full year from the time of my referral til I actually got to see a surgeon for my initial consult. My initial consult was in Feb 2002 and after the usual tests, my surgery was scheduled for October 24, 2002.

The surgery went very well with only a minor complication. I developed a slight fever and couldnt go home until it was gone. Approximately 2 weeks after getting home from the hospital, I was able to move around with minimal discomfort. Only getting up and sitting down remained a slight challenge. By the third week post surgery, I felt very near my old self and returned to work.

In the decade since my surgery, I've become so active.  I hated not being able to walk and hike and camp with family and friends.
These are things that I now do on a regular basis.
I eventually divorced my then-husband.  He was a serial cheater and I finally figured out (after more than 17yrs of marriage) that I deserved a lot better.  I have since remarried a wonderful man.  My two teens adore him and my home life is fantastic.

I've never been happier!
