Well after everything I finally had my surgery on 12/18/08. It was a race to the finish as I finished my fall semeter of nursing classes on Monday, and my surgery was on Thursday morning. I worked Wed. night until 11 pm got home just in time to have a glass of water before the magic moment of midnight when I became NPO.
Thursday morning came and as I drove to the hospital I was thinking of all the things that could go wrong includiing death. We got to day surgery checked in and in about 15 minutes were taken back to the holding bay. I undressed and put their robe on and tried to remain calm. I met my OR nurse, and the nurse antheist. It made me feel better that I new one of them. At 7.30 am the Dr. came in and asked if I was ready to do this, so they wheeled me to the OR, and got me on the table. They asked me where I was going for my dream vacation, and I replied Jamacia, where Tammy and I were married. The next thing I know They were asking me how was the trip. It's over I said they laughed and said yes we're through, and I'm alive? They really laughed then. I was taken to PACU, and once again I knew the nurse taking care of me.
Once I made it to my room I ran into problems with pain, the nurse had no clue how to take care of me, but thankfully 2 nurses jumped in and addressed my pain. Once it was under controll I was up walking and only had to spend 2 nights in the hospital.

Went for my check up today and recieved a clean bill of health. Since Dec. 01/08 I have lost 45.8 lbs. I have a long way to go but each day is one day closer to a healthier leaner me.

After having to put my surgery off for 1 year finally Dec. 18 will be my date. As I get closer to the date I am both scared and excited all at the same time.

I met with Dr. Cook on May,7. My surgery has been set for August 10,2007. I am trying tom stay focused on the positive stuff and not worry about the "what could go wrong" stuff. Keep me in prayers and thoughts.

This trip was my sabatical. I needed to get away from work and school plus I wanted to go to my favorite resturant Crabby Mike's. Needless to say the trip had all sorts of events that could make one laugh or cry.  Due to the fact that we live payday to payday and it was not pay week I borrowed my mother's credit card to cover gas and food on this trip. When I filled up in SC the pay at the pump asked for my zip code so I put in mine. What it wanted was my mother's which I did not know. Tammy, my wife called her mother in Granite Falls NC, and had her look it up on the internet. I put the right zip code in and all is well. Once we get to the beach we find a motel, check in, and go to Crabby Mike's to eat. When I give the waitress the card it comes back declined. So I pay with cash, and go back to the room.  The next day we are out and need gas so I try the card again, but it will not accept it. I call my mother and tell her what is going on. She calls the credit card company, and finds out because I put in the wrong zip code it was flagged as stolen. All in all it was a fun and relaxing trip that helped me become mentally ready for surgery.

5/7/07 I met with Dr. Cook. He has agreed to do the surgery, and it looks like it will be the middle of July.  I was hoping to have it done before I statred the nursing program, but it is not going to happen.

Today my wife Tammy and I went for the educational section. Dr. Cox seemed very personable, and answered everyone's questions. Libby has all my paperwork except for my 5 years of medical records. Tomorrow I go for my psych. eval. and back to my PCP to make sure Libby gets the records in a timely manner.
