"Well..I went to my consultation thinking that I wanted a LapBand...and after talking to Dr Maher, Ive decided on the Gastric Bypass. He was a very down to earth, easy to talk to surgeon. I felt that he was honest and forthcoming with all the risks and benefits of each procedure and he never made me feel rushed or pressured. His office staff is wonderful and Jill, his nurse, is very informative and kind. The thing that I liked most about him was the way he spoke to me. Despite the fact that I am a nurse, I do not wish for others in the health care field to treat me as if I know ANYTHING other than what Ive researched here on the internet re: WLS. I am a GYN nurse. (big difference)rnI am waiting for a surgery date and hope to hear from them very soon....I'll keep you posted!rnI asked if I could have a consult with a psychiatrist, to see if he/she thought that I would be a good candidate. I am glad that I did, I had a good experience with that too. BUT..... it has taken a couple of months for all of that to take place and I really wanted a date by now. So, that being said, I cant complain about either doctor...they were both wonderful...I can complain about how long this has taken now that I have finally made up my mind to get it done. rn"
