October 31st, 2006....Halloween!
Hi, my name is Chad, I am 34 years old and I live in Sacramento, CA. I am an automotive technician at a local dealership here in Sac, and I have lived in the area for 16 years. I grew up in the bay area, moving to Sacramento in the late 80's when my mom's job transfered us. I have always struggled with my weight, but never had a major problem with it until a car accident in 1998 left me bed ridden for 8 months. After I recovered and was able to walk again, I had already gained over 100lbs. Since then I have gained a few more pounds and I am now at 367 lbs. At 5'8", that puts my BMI at a dangerously high level. I noticed that my legs were looking a little discolored and I decided to go see my doctor about concerns of diabetes possible starting. He confirmed my fears and recommended I look into bariatric surgery. Well, I had already been looking into this surgery for about the last 2 years, but thought I would not qualify so I never mentioned it. Now, I realize I qualified a couple of years ago. So here I am, starting on my journey to a better and healthier me.
