I can officially say

Dec 29, 2010

I can officially say I am looking forward to 2011 and turning 46.  2010 started out bad and got worse.  I started the year with not one, but two Petersen's hernias.  I then ended back in the hospital in April 2010 with a ischemic bowel obstruction, topped off with a major GI bleed.  I rec'd over 40 units of blood from April through July.  Yes, that is how long I was in the hospital.   After the bowel obstruction surgery I woke up intubated and on a ventilator.  The doctor had told my husband to call the family, he didn't think I would make it through the night, but I did.  I remember my husband saying to me, "fight when you need too, but rest when you can."

The question everyone asks, "would you have the RNY?"  My answer is and always will be "yes."  Any one having any major abdomen surgery is subject to those types of complications.  I still feel that the RNY saved my life.  My complications during 2010 was just a "bump in the road of life."
