Getting concerned

I never considered weight loss surgery but I suffer from barrett's esophagus which is a pre cancer condition.  I am overweight always have been since I can remember.  I've lost it gained it back-we all know the drill.  I'm worried about how drastic my life is going to change after surgery.  Will I be able to have a drink with my girlfriends, can I go out to a restaurant will I always be sick?  I'm not sure if I'm doing the right thing!  I've been extremely depressed about this decision so I haven't lost any weight I'm not sure I even tried.  I just want someone to tell me what I'm in store for and to be completely honest about it.
