Question:
I'm 2 months post op mild burning.

Yesterday I began having some burning in my mid-stomach, not right in the middle but a bit to my left. I'm thinking of taking a spoonful of Maalox. I have two questions and need your imput, please: has anyone had this mild burning sensation? is taking Maalox effective and safe for us? I already take pepcid pills twice a day.    — vitoria (posted on March 25, 2005)

Hello I was given Maalox in the hosptial yesterday as past of seveal meds that I received for abdominal pain. I would say that since it is not an Nsaid that you could use it safely and effectively. I would put in a call to either your PCP or your bypass surgeons office to allow them to know that you are experiencing a problem. My question would be; is the pain intermitent or is it continuous? Does the pain change when you make positional changes or does it stay constant? Have you done anything to pull a muscle, as burning pain can sometimes occur with pulled muscles. Theses are a few things that you can think about and mention the answers of them to your doctor so that he/she can evaluate you more effectively. Best of luck! Christy Riederer RN/BSN-s

Yes, I'll call my doctors and let them know of this odd burning sensation that comes and goes. Thank you so much for the kindness of your response :)
