Question:
Question about how eggs are fixed

I was layed off so I have no insurance so unfortunately I cannot ask my surgeon this question..I am one year out Open RNY..My question is why the heck can I eat poached or over easy eggs but scrambled ones make me feel sick? It makes no sense to me and I used to love omelettes..I have tried egg beaters and they make me feel ill also...Thank You    — Suzanne S. (posted on March 25, 2003)

I have no clue why, but I was the same way... I couldn't eat eggs scrambled until about 18 months. Every other way was find... just not scrambled. Sorry I can't help you with the why. I just thought it might make you feel better that you aren't the only one!

me too me too!! I have no idea why. Early out, everyone kept saying.."eat scrambled eggs, great source of protien and they are soft", well, I could not tolerate scrambled eggs. At all, not even a bite. One day, my husband made an over easy egg, and left it sitting in front of me while he made toast for himself. So, I decided to take a bite, then another, and it went down well. I ate the whole thing!! That was my first whole egg after surgery. I still prefer my eggs over easy. But can now tolerate (one) scrambled egg when i have nothing else to choose from. ONe of those mysteries of WLS!!

Go Figure, I am the exact opposite. Before WLS I use to love eggs over easy and now I simply can not stomach them. Yet I love scrambled or omletes.

I had the same problem, our nutrionist saaid it was due to the eggs being too dry, she suggested using some type of sauce on them like salsa or picante sauce. it worked, it also worked with a slice a cheese on top of the scrambled eggs, I am 15 months post op now and have no problems
