Question:
I'm wondering if anyone else out there is in the same situation

as I am. I am 7 1/2 mos. out and down 95 lbs. Started at 280 and currently weigh in at 185. Now I know this is a lot of weight to lose in such a short time but I'm feeling that in the past 2 mos. or so..the weight loss has virtually slowed down to snail speed. I even go weeks without losing anything. I think in 2 mos. I lost 15 lbs. I work out every morning for 1 hour, eat lots of protein and drink my water. Has this happened to anyone else out there? Any suggestions as to how to kick start my weight loss. Oh yea...it seems I can eat a whole lot more now and even though Im staying away from carbs..I still seem to be able to eat a lot. Especially salad. Any help will be great. I'm starting to get worried that my window of opportunity has closed already. Peace..Kelly    — KellyL (posted on November 4, 2003)

Hi, You sound just like me. I started out at 275, had surgery 7 mos ago, I'm now at 183 lbs. For the month of Sep I lost 4 lbs. For Oct, I lost 11. From reading other questions, our rate of loss will slow down. I was told to jump start a plateau, drink your protien shakes, cut out carbs and drinks lots of water. Don't worry, it will come off. We've just gotten spoiled that it was coming off so fast. Keep up the good work.

7 pounds a month is still in the normal range. You could probably add an additional 1/2 hour per day to your exercise routine. That'll get you revving again.

We have similar stats, too (7 months out, down 97 pounds from 290 to 193). It's absolutely normal for the weight loss to slow down somewhere in the 6 month range--everyone's does. It's also absolutely normal to be able to eat more. You just have to be more vigilant about what you eat, and how much you'll allow yourself to eat. Hang in there. The good news is, you're perfectly normal. The bad news is it's time to work a little harder at it. And, you're still losing at a good rate. Don't despair.

Hi, I just wanted to say that you are doing great at 71/2 mths out. I am now 9 mths out and started at 322 and now down 125#, so you starting at 280 and down 95# is great so far! Just to let ya know our bodies will hit plateaus no matter how much you work out cuz they need to adjust to the quick weight loss! But, you are doing the right things to help the process along, I am not too good at working out so I try to walk to get my exercise in or do alot of housework! But, keep up the great work and yes it will eventually happen again and you will lose! I know, I have hit plenty of plateaus and never thought I'd lose anymore, but then I started again! Take Care!

I am going through the same thing, had my surgery 5/3/03 down 93 lbs, but feel stuck. Want more but will be happy if this is as good as it gets. What helps is to know that you and I are not alone.
