Abrazo Scottsdale Campus Bariatric Wellness Institute Bariatric Center

My surgeon is Dr. Fang with the Bridges Center in Phoenix, AZ. My first impression of DR. Fang was that he was a very caring and understanding DR. He explain all the things that would go on with me during my pre op stage and post op stage. The office staff was very helpful and nice. The only thing I didn't like to much was the office visits were a long wait, but it was because DR. Fang wants to give all his patients enough time to go over all there concerns. So for that I didn't mind waiting. For future patients that are thinking of using DR. Fang it would be a great choice. He is all about the person he is treating and not about hurrying up just to get paid.DR. Fang is very concerned about making sure his patients drink there fluids, get their protein, and walking to prevent blood clots that can happen after any type of surgery.DR. Fang and the Bridges Center has a lot of after care classes to go to, and they are always willing to answer any questions you may have day or night. DR. Fang explained all the risk that COULD happen to me but assured me that it would more then likely not due to me being young and having no other health issues. I would rate DR. Fang a #1 on the surgery scale and bedside manner scale. I think having a surgeon that is good with both surgical competence and bedside manner is essential for a patient and DR. Fang is that surgeon.

Dr. Fang is a very direct physician. He makes sure all of your questions are answered and explains why he recommends the surgical procedure that he does. I had in mind that I wanted the lap-band and he convinced me that I had too much weight to lose and would be more beneficial for me to have the full gastric bypass. I have to say it is difficult getting through the pre-authorization procedures and there was some frustration because of staff turnover but all in all I feel I had the best Dr. for the job. When I had an ulcer 4 months post op and had to have several EGD (scopes of my pouch and small intestine), he wasted no time in getting me into the procedure and returned all my calls when I needed him. He also works with a PA, Emile Manansala, who is extremely knowledgable and is available to see on short notice. I would tell any new patient to be vigilant with calling and keeping on top of staff to make sure they are doing their part in contacting your insurance company for approval but once that process is complete it is pretty much smooth sailing, don't let it be a hinderance and turn you away from Dr. Fang. Dr. Fang is a top class surgeon who really knows his stuff. I forgot to mention that there are class that are part of the preapproval process. Nutrition, psychological, how to prepare before surgery and what to expect post op. This is offered by Bridges and it is very helpful and full of information. Dr. Fang has surgical privileges at St. Luke's Hosp., Phoenix, AZ and Banner Good Samaritan, also in Phoennix, AZ so you have your choice of hospitals for your surgery and it helps in getting insurance approval also because they may not contract with one hospital but they will with the other. I highly recommend Dr. Fang to anyone, I also have a friend who had him several years ago and she has had continued success with her weight loss/maintenance. I have lost 120 in 1 1/2 years and I am very happy with my loss.

I met Dr. Fang and was impressed. I had been referred to him by Dr Robin Blackstone, as she went out of network with my insurance (Aetna).
Dr. Fang is to the point, but takes time to answer questions. He is a very soft spoken person. He reviewed the risks of the RnY and we agreed that this would be the best surgery for me.
A personal friend had her surgery with Dr. Fang and raved about him. So far I am on the band wagon with her.

My surgeon was Dr. Daniel Fang. His concern for my health (physical and emotional) was amazing. He CARES about his patients. We aren't just dollar signs.
His assistant, Emile, is the same. The office staff is very kind and caring and really "root" for you to get healthy.
The program at The Bridges Center (Phoenix) works closely with Dr. Fang and his partner, Dr. Juarez. I highly recommend Dr. Fang AND The Bridges Center.
Dr. Fang makes sure you are well aware of EVERYTHING before you even schedule your surgery date. He is very thorough without being rushed and he is very, very kind.
It took me 5 years of research and visits with 3 other doctors, but I chose Dr. Fang as he was the best I'd seen. I do not regret the decision one bit.

Dr. Fang saved my life! His and Emile's bedside manner was perfect, I don't expect a bed of roses, but did expect respect. I got that! They were right on top of everything post-op, and have been since. Their office is organized. They run behind occasionally, and that can be frustrating. Kathy, the person who schedules for Dr. Fang and Dr. J, leaves a lot to be desired. She needs a class in dealing with people, in my opinion. Overall, I had a great experience and I am having excellent results!

Competent, quiet, qualified.
Could care less about bedside manner, only care that he can cut and sew efficiently.
Hospital he works at is not real impressive at first glance, after going for pre-op, they seem efficient, will know more after surgery
Surgery went awesome, he was very frank and upfront about what I should and should not be doing, he is very busy so know what you want to ask when you go and see him, but I am quite satisfied with the quality of care that I received from him and his staff.

He is a very good and knowledgeable doctor. He performs over 500 surgeries a year and is very meticulous with each step towards your surgery.

Hi, I had my surgery on Sept.21st 09 and I have to say I am so glad. I am blessed to have had Dr. Fang perform it for me. rnrnMy journey starting last Oct.08. After many hoop jumping, tests w/o follow thru and run arounds along with miss comutacations from another so called bariatric competitor,it was such a pleasure to find Dr. Fang and Bridges center. There is a reason it's a hospital of excellence.rnrnEven though I had most tests done at another place,it didn't change Dr. Fang willingness and professionalism to get me on the right track and move foward.rnrnThank You Dr. Fang & Bridges after all the frogs,I finally found my prince and my way back to good health. rnrnzest4livin :)

Dr. Fang is a very concerned and kind man, aside from the fact that he is an excellant surgeon. He is very quite, but is very focused on you as an individual and treats you as if you are the one and only patient he has.rnrnI have worked as a professional in the medical field all of my life. I have worked with Docs from both ends of the pendulum and Dr. Fang is the real deal. I am probably his worst nightmare as I have had some problems post op. Dr. Fang has not given up on me and has gone above and beyond in trying to find the source of my problems. On more than one occasion he has called me at home later in the evening to make sure I was doing ok...long after he should have been home relaxing!rnrnWhen you go to see Dr, Fang, take your list of questions. I promise you he will take the time to answer them and not just blow you off. Just remember while you are waiting and impatient, he is going to extend the same courtisy to you when you are in with him. I give him a 10 +

Dr. Fang is very professional, and I'm appreciative to have him as my trusted surgeon for my Realize banding surgery on February 13, 2009.
