Aslam Bariatric Center Bariatric Center

Dr Aslam came in and spoke with those of us at the consult. He was very professional, straight to the point, and patient with our questions. As a matter of fact, he asked several times if we had any questions. I felt very comfortable with him in the room. I did not feel intimidated at all. I was impressed with the amount of emphasis on aftercare. I feel confident with his surgical competence and am looking forward to submitting to insurance and getting approval!

My first impression of Dr Aslam was that he is incredibly competant. He was very caring and thorough. And he goes to great lengths to make sure you know exactly what to expect.
Jeannie Colter is a wonderfull and caring person, with a wealth of information to help you with every aspect of the of this journey. Dr Aslam's office staff couldn't be better. They are always friendly, efficient, and willing to help.
Aftercare is stressed heavily, physically and emotionally.
Surigical risks were addressed completely. And Dr. Aslam goes to great lengths to help you get into as optimum pre-surgical shape as possible. Including lung exercises to help lower the risk of complications after surgery.
Overall I rate him, tops!
There is no question as to his surgical competence. I have met other bariatric surgeons prior to our move to Maine. Dr Aslam is not only cutting edge... but it is comforting to know that does specialize in thorasic and vascular surgery as well. (I had met with a bariatric surgeon, out of state, and it felt very much like an uncaring gastric bypass factory.)
I think surgical competence is first and foremost. Dr. Aslam seems to have a caring bedside manner too.He was very approachable, and willing to answer anything that I asked.
As far as bedside manner... I am not coming to see him for jokes and laughter... If he were all smiles and jovial, I might question his competence. He takes your health very seriously. And that made me feel better. My visit did end with a very warm hand shake, and a hint of a smile.

01/16/01 Well it's already January 16th and today I met up with Dr. Aslam. One more appt to go then I guess everything gets sent into medicaid. So I'm hoping to have a surgery date sometime at the end of Feb. Or first week in March.
Anyways, my appt went well wasn't very long I really didn't have much to ask him because I have done so much research on the surgery I pretty much know what lays ahead. Its a journary but I'll get there soon. Dr.Aslam appears to be a nice man not scarey or intimadating at all. He said that I could call back at anytime if I did end up having a question, which made me feel good because I always seem to think of something later.
Also found out today I need to lose 20-25lbs before my surgery which is fine by me atleast now I know I can't pack on 20 or 25lbs which I could have very well done thinking I should eat all I want before cause after the surgery I won't be able too. So I'm glad they made that a rule.
I suppose thats all for now, I will be back next week to update again after I visit the Pysh Dr. Bye for now.
05/24/02 Wow Its been awhile but all i have to say about Dr.Aslam is he is a very caring man who takes an interest with his patients even 10 months later.

Well I wont meet Dr. Aslam until April 2nd but Maureen at his office is super! I am so thankful to her for her help...

Well I met Dr. Aslam today. He seemed very nice and asked me many times if I had any questions. I couldn't really think of any I have been researching this for so long.
One more step to a thinner me...

Dr A struck me as quiet and patient. He listened to all my questions and answered them fully. One thing I did not like about him was that he appeared to be very tired, he might have been having "one of those days" because the next time I saw him he was happy and animated and he's just full of information and he's willing to answer all your questions.

The office staff is very pleasant and extremely helpful...
I met with Dr. Aslam and did not yet have the chance to discuss anything....he said we need your insurance approved and I need to lose 10%, then I will have a follow-up, then I will ask more questions and let you know more.
Maureen was very helpful with the process of insurance approval!! YEAH!! Darlene called with my date today, 1/28/02!! YIPEE!!
