I have nothing but AMAZING things to say about the surgeon and his staff...I decided to go with Dr Ziadan...Dr Aslam's partner and do open RNY...Dr Z has been wonderful...e came in to tell me about the complications that could happen and I let him know I was already aware and researched up on all of that but I was not going to dwell on it...I am going to have a POSITIVE attitude and do GREAT...he just looked at me and said YES you are...he is so GENTLE...I feel 100% comfortable with him...he hugged me as he left the room and we will meet again the day of surgery JANUARY 11th...YEA BABY...as for the office staff I could complain about things not happening in my time...but those girls are under a lot of pressure and I honestly feel they try hard for us...but there are so many of us that it gets over whelming at times...I had a great deal of hurdles to over come but I DID IT...and the support I have found from the people on this site and fellow patients of Dr Aslam has been AMAZING</blockquote>

Dr. Aslam is a soft-spoken man, who is extremely competent at what he does, and caring at the same time.
His office staff, as you will read about from others, are fantastic. JC and Nancy are the two ladies I am most familiar with, but everyone I have spoken with thus far has been very nice.
Dr. Aslam has a strick routine of before surgery stuff, and aftercare stuff. Some of his requirements take WEEKS to complete, but I know that they are necessary and for my own good.
He is well aware of the risks, and some of his aftercare programs address these issues directly - like a stomach tube and a drainage tube to avoid infections, etc. He wants his patients to do well, and he is on the cutting edge of sugical technique.
I have met with Dr. Aslam twice so far, and I have been impressed with him. I will keep you all posted as to further impressions!

Well its been a long 3 months I guess as of today so almost 90 days from the start. Nancy one of Dr A's nurses ended my visits with Dr A. No Surgery because I would not or could not depending on who you ask - loose the 10% of my body weight + the 9 pounds I have gained since I quit smoking in these 3 months.
I met Dr Aslam yesterday and he seemed nice although it seemed to me that he looked right thru me (although just 1 hour before my appointment was the first plane hitting the world trade building so his or my emotions could have been off). His reputation for being an excellent surgeon and caring doctor is what I am holding on to because today I feel overwhelmed I stopped smoking 12 days ago (after 25 years of smoking) because Dr Aslam requires you to be 6 weeks smoke free and yesterday he seemed not to see that as anything great then told me I have to get my insurance approval and lose 10% of my weight which is around 30 pounds. I asked Dr Aslam how he suggested I lose this weight as my losing effort according to him moves me up or down on the surgery list. His suggestion was eat unlimited greens (i'm assuming salad) and fruit with the comment to make sure there is no oil in the dressings. Wow I made it about 6 hours before I fell off the diet. I knew he required this weight loss. I am just so afraid that now I will never have the surgery because he won't deem me as being a good canidate.

Dr Aslam did not mention much about after care during our visit together so I am guessing I will only find that info out if I can lose this weight.

The office staff at Dr Aslam office seemed very caring. My husband and I locked our keys in the car during our appointment and the staff helped call around to find us someone to come unlock it for us.

I met Dr. Aslam at my first consultation. I found him very professional and yet warm. He is also very thorough which makes me feel safe.
Met with Dr. Aslam on 10/2/01 to review my case. He is so quiet and serious. He did however stress that I was a high risk.
I find him professional and to the point. The office staff has been more than helpful
and accomadating. I feel safe in his hands and from what I hear from all the other patients, he absolutely knows what he is
doing.
11/12/01 - 2:40: am. I found Dr. Aslam very thorough. For a high risk person, I did just fine and I believe that it is because of his warning of me being a high risk. He was at the hospital ofter, met with Dr. Zaiden, his inter (real cute) and himself. He is so serious, however, my mission was to get a couple of smiles out of him. Surgery day, he was ready for me when I got there. He finished early and for some reason they could not get me ready quick enough. Actually, I had not time to think or get scare. He came in pre=op room, lifted up the johnie and made markings where the incisions would be, so I said to him that I also need a smiley face, he gave me a real nice smile. It kind of broke the tension. Before, I knew it I was in recovery. He was attentive in the hospital and had my first appointment on 11/9. I was nervouse about this appointment because my pain meds ended up all over the car, not in my feeding tube. At this visit, he removed drainage tube, only tickled. Took all staples out, no big thing. I find his office staff very efficient, he certainly has surrounded himself with great people. His greatest asset is not bedside manner. His greatest skill is surgery for the severly obese. It is obvious that he takes his job and his patients very seriously.

Haven't met the DOC yet but Jeannie is great
12/25/00 Dr. Aslam is #1, he is the best, I've seen him in action now!! (just came home from my open RNY) he does whats best for your health...period, just follow his orders for success.
12/29/00 Dr.A took out my drain tube yesterday, he is smooth man, SMOOOOOTH!
1/20/01 Saturday called the office today, needed to talk to someone about my feeding tube, Dr. Aslam called me back in 5 minutes from home.
10/10/01 Well I saw Dr. Aslam a few weeks ago and I don't go back for a year now. I am glad I found him, In my opinion he is the BEST!!

HI All,
Dr. Aslam did come into the meeting and we met him he is soooooo skinny. I was taken aback. He is a very nice and quiet man, very smart and well educated. He was very concerned about us and any issues we had. Jeannie was so good though at going over stuff that we really didn't have any questions. I have always been treated with utmost courtesy and never really put off in any questions that I have.

I have had my first visit with Dr. Aslam and I am even more confident in him than before. My primary care physician knows him personally and had given his glowing recommendation. Now having had the opportunity to speak with him in person, I totally agree. His answers to my questions were given with very clear and detailed information. I felt that he took all of time I required to answer my questions. He took equally as much time to be sure I understood all the risks involved in my surgery and to explain what the limitations of the surgery was to include. He explained that many have unrealistic dreams of what having this surgery will do for them in areas beyond the physical area. I thought that this was clear insight into the personal concern he has for each of his patients as individuals. I would be glad to recommend him to anyone who has made the serious decision to have this surgery.
Had Rny LAP DISTAL on 9/5/01. Dr. Aslam is very caring, efficient and informative. He was wonderful with my nervous hubby as well. He visited me several times post op the first day, as well as phone the nurses station. He was in several times the next day and phoned the nurses station as well. He was very complete in his instruction for going home and what I was to do at home. My confidence for him has been well placed. He is skilled, caring and very involved with his patients.
