My first impression of Dr. Engstrand is that he is completely knowlegable, no nonsense Doctor.rnDr. Engstand is friendly, but not chatty, and very professional. . rnDr. E emphasizes aftercare and has a very comprehensive program. You're required to see a dietician at regualar intervals.rnThe doctor quickly went over the risks of surgery, but answered any questions I had.rnI would rate him as an excellent surgeon. rnHis surgical competence is probably better than his bedside manner. rn
I think this man is an incredible doctor and surgeon. I have been so pleased with my choice.rnrnWhen you first meet Dr. E., he is much like so many surgeons, not huge in personality and a man of few words, but his skills are amazing. He is very knowledgeable and will answer any question you have quite thoroughly. I can't begin to tell you how safe I felt in those great big warm hands of his.rnrnHis Bariatric Institue of Wisconsin clinic is like a well oiled machine. Everything is done so thoroughly and everyone working there is so competent and kind.rnrnThey are excellent at after care also and continute to follow you. Dr. E and his clinic get a 10 out of 10 rating from me.
Dr. Chiang is a wonderful Dr. with an excellent bed-side-manner. He explains everything until you fully understand. You never feel rushed, or that you're taking up too much of his time. rnrnThis was a great expierence for me. 6 months out and NO complications!
So far, I am VERY happy with my choice of surgeon. Dr. Chiang is kind and patient, most importantly, he is never patronizing. The staff are helpful and friendly as well. Elmbrook Hospital, which is where the surgeries are performed, has a great reputation. Dr. Chiang's office people helped me to coordinate lab test dates and kept trak of the paperwork and I was approved within minutes of having the last bit of labwork sent to them. My only complaint (and it is rather small) is that there was one occasion when someone at the office did not get back to be in a timely fashion.
When I first met with Dr. Chiang it was at an informational seminar. He thoroughly answered everyone's questions. He was honest and up front about possible complications and at my consultation he went over everything once again with me one on one. His office staff is wonderful also. I had lots of questions regarding insurance and a few problems with my insurance. Meghan, Darlene, and Barb handled it all for me. I ended up being APPROVED before I even finished my pre op tests!
Dr. Engstrand was compassionate yet professional. I had full confidence in his ability as a bariatric surgeon and his experience. He has a very comprehensive after care program with a meeting scheduled every month at the hospital. I've only gone to one meeting, but the one I went to was very helpful and informative pre-op. His staff is very knowlegable, but there is not alot of phone follow-up post-op and had I expected that there would be. Dr. Engstrand is a man of few words - so you need to utilize the time spent with him well. I would say that it's important to bring written questions and concerns to appointments so that everything is addressed in that short period of time. He went over all risks and problems associated with this surgery at the first pre-op appointment and helped me decide which surgery would be the most appropriate for me. I did feel that I was well informed with the hand-outs that were given pre-op. I do feel that more info should be given post-op though. I would rate Dr. Engstrand and his office very well. I had a very positive experience so far.
He is wonderfully kind and competent. I have had zero complications and feel great! He did an AMAZING job!
The staff at BIW are also AMAZING! SO caring and thorough. I would reccomend them to anyone.
They really take the time to answer any questions and take such good care of you!
Aftercare is extremely emphasized. They really push you to go to their support meeting and it is a great support group.
The risks of surgery were thoroughly explained to me.
I think both good bedside manner and surgical competence are important. Dr. CHiang has both.
It has now been a year working with Dr. Chiang and I am more impressed with him after each visit/fill that I have had. He is continually encouraging and I believe caring. I don't believed I could have picked a better surgeon.
Met with Dr. Burhop on October 25, 2005. His office was warm and inviting. He seemed to be soft spoken and somewhat on the reserved side. He does have a nice smile! He is very knowledgable on the procedures he performs. Explained thoroughly the different options of WLS. I am the biggest weenie of a patient you would ever want to meet. (I did let him know that, and he is seemed to be okay with it) However, when he did explain the risks and benefits, I was put to ease. He really reassured me about the outcome of WLS. I know this is the best choice for me. Dr. Burhop made me feel my decision to have surgery was the right one. I left there with all the info I needed. I would recommend him to anyone who is considering surgery and wants a consult. After my consult, I will definitely have Dr. Burhop perform my procedure. His office staff is very warm and friendly too. Again, this is just my opinion of my experience.
