I liked Dr. Chiang very much. He spent a lot of time explaining all of the risks, complications, and benefits of both types of surgery. He was very thorough, and used visuluals, as well. He was not at all condesending, and was very open and receptive to questions both my husband (he's an RN) had. I felt extremely comfortable with him, and feel he will be an excellent sugeon for me.

Dr. Chiang has taken the time to explain in great detail all aspects of pre-surgery to me. He has been considerate and kind. The staff at the Bariatric Institute is helpful.

I give Dr. Engstrand two thumbs up! He is wonderful and his office staff are the BEST!They all helped me to understand the process of wls and the risks. They are there to help with all the questions both pre-op and post-op. Both my husband and I had our surgeries done by Dr. Engstrand and I would suggest him to anyone and everyone... he is great!

I went to an informational meeting about the bariatric surgery procedures and it was led by Dr Engstrand. He seems very personable, caring, dedicated and knowledgeabe. I am willing ot trust my life to his capable hands and look forward to my TWO part DS surgery.


I am now about 3 1/2 weeks Post-op for the first 1/2 of the Duodenol Switch surgery, the stomach portion and I must say that I am very pleased with the way Dr Engstrand is so very thorough,he was there through EVERY step of the process, from pre-op colonoscopy to post op leak test!! He is very supportive, answers every question completely and you feel safe with him.

Dr. Burhop is highly recommended. He has a good personality and always took whatever time I needed to answer all my questions both pre and post op.

I have only met with Dr. Chiang once so far. I found him to be very pleasant. He spent time listening to me and went over the papers I had filled out with me. He was very informative and seemed to be quite confident and that was reassuring. His office staff was very friendly. He does have aftercare program and they all really seem to advocate aftercare and group counseling. So far I would rate him pretty good on the first impression scale.

My first impression of my doctor was that he was Confident and knowledgable.

This opinion has not changed.

His staff was very supportive and pleasent to deal with, except for one person named Stephanie she was always rude and seemed to be put out when asked questions.

Very good surgeon a 10 in my book.

He was very good at addressing the risks of surgery.


I prefer surgical competence over bedside manner.
I was surprised to get both.
Dr. Burhop was also very attentive and made sure I was well taken care of after my surgery.
He stepped in when my doctor was not available.

I work in surgery, so I knew him before I went to him. He is very nice, he will answer any question you have and will genuinely listen to you. The office staff are wonderful. They always take time for you. Him and his partners have an aftercare program set up. It's very helpful. His surgical competence and bedside manner are wonderful.
