Dr. Schneider is great. He has a wonderful bedside manner.

He performed both of my bariatric surgeries, and has always been very honest about everything. My second surgery was more complicated, and he made sure that I was aware of all of the possible problems that could result, both during and after the surgery. He also made sure to have another doctor from the BIDMC bariatric practice assisting him, which was very comforting.

Overall, the BIDMC Weight Loss Surgery Center is wonderful! All of the doctors, nurses, dieticians and staff are always helpful and understanding.

I was impressed by Dr. Schneider, his partner Dr. Jones, and the whole staff at Beth Israel. rnMy impression has stayed the same so far.rnI think the program they have there is very encompassing of all dynamics of weight loss. They were very compassionate. The beginning process, surgery itself and aftercare seems very structured and hard to fail ! I felt knowledgable about the process - like I really knew what was going on.rnThe only negative complaint I might have is the time spent with the actual surgeon - although this is typical of the field.

I cannot express how happy I am with the care I've had thus far. My surgery was 2 weeks ago - I had laparoscopic RNY Gastric Bypass. I will be honest and say that I did have a complication which required me to return to surgery 3 days out, my entire hospital stay was 5 days. Dr. Schneider said I was an atypical case. 5 days after my discharge I called the hospital due to increased pain....3 hours later I was in the office being seen by Dr. Schneider himself. Even with my complications my experience at BIDMC has been nothing but positive. Dr. Schneider, the fellows, nurses, nurses aides, dietitians, administrative staff, EVERYONE was wonderful - that includes in-patient and out-patient. rnrnBased upon the thorough, multi-disciplinary approach, knowledge, and sensitivity of the staff....I cannot compliment or thank the Bariatric Program at BIDMC enough. I look forward to them being a long-term part of my life and health.

I really liked Dr. Schneider. He presented at the first information session I attended and I really liked his personality and he had the type of experience I was looking for. He also had a great bedside manner which is just as important to me as good surgical skills. Overall I had no complications except for some muscle stitch pain that is hanging on. He says he does tight muscle stitches to prevent hernias that sometimes bother people. The pain is driving me crazy but if it prevents a hernia and another surgery down the road, it is worth it. And not all of his patients have as much pain as I am having. Overall I have been very pleased with him and his team and would definitely recommend him to anyone else considering this surgery in the Boston area.rnrnThe whole process at BIDMC is multidisciplinary and I have had a great experience with everyone so far, from the surgeon to his fellows to the nutritionist and the nurses I had immediately post-op. They really emphasize aftercare and have a very structured approach. Before surgery you even have to sign a contract stating that you will come to all follow-up appointments. In my opinion that is a positive thing, and I think that BIDMC really has the right idea about how to treat their patients.

I first met Dr. Schneider at an informational session held at BIDMC. I had a dear friend of mine attend this meeting with me. She made me PROMISE I'd have him as my surgeon. After meeting him during that session I couldn't possibly imagine having anyone else perform my surgery. He and his staff are amazing, they called me at home a few days out from surgery to see how I was doing. He was nothing but open and honest. I can't wait until my first post-op visit. He has changed my life!
