10-18-00 I have made my initial consultation appointment with Dr. Cooper. Halloween...I don't know what that might mean, but it sounds good to me. It was originally scheduled for November but the Dr. had a cancellation so the receptionist called me right away since she knew I was eager to get the ball rolling. She said that the Dr. might be able to take me as soon as December 2000 since I am a cash patient and don't have to deal with the insurance hassles. Sure would be great! Diana is the receptionist and she very patiently answered many questions and explained some things on our first phone call...that really impressed me since I had been given the run-around several times from other places.

I thought that he was fine, I mean he answered all my questions and made me feel relaxed. He talked with my husband and about his time in the military. He went into detail about the surgery and made me aware of what he would be doing in there. Diane has been great. I did get a false approval but I'm not to sure what happened there. He has been doing this surgery for 20 years so I feel at ease. I will update after surgery. Which will be Oct,4th 2000
well after the surgery now I have to say that Dr, Cooper was good. The surgery wen't well. I think that he is all buisness. Not very concerned about the things like if your a little scared to get your staples out. He just took then right out. I was a little nervous of the pain. But he didn't give me time to be. Wich in a funny was is what I think people need. At least I did. I would rate Dr. Cooper (from 1-10) a 9.5 But like I said his bedside manner is almost nill. But surgical competence is much more important I think.

I have not met Dr Cooper yet. My first appointment is May 30, 2000.
9/14/00
I had my first appointment with Dr. Cooper and found him very helpful. He throughly explained the proceedure and was very patient and kind. I have heard very good things about him from various sources.

Dr. Cooper was a delightful man. He was very
informative and easy to talk to about obesity,
weight loss surgery (pros and cons) and just about
any of the good places to fish in California.
He answered all my surgery questions honestly and
frankly. Since he has done this surgery so long
I am sure that he has heard just about all the
questions. He was very nice and never treated
me like just another patient but listened to all
my fears and concerns. He was interested in
his internet persona and how I found him and what
"they" are saying about him in the computer. Of
couse he laughed when he said that.
His receptionist, Diana, was also a delight.
She answers just about as many questions and battles
the insurance companies for we fair damsels in distress.
He told me that there is an aftercare group that meets monthly.
Overall, I rate him excellant, so far.

I met Dr. Cooper for the first time today, and my impression of him was that he was very easy to talk to(considering how nervous I was!)He made me feel comforatable and seems to really want to help me. I thought Diane was very nice also. I have blue shield ppo and they are sending the request for surgery in so I am on pins and needles for probably the next 2 weeks waiting for a confirmation,It feels like waiting for insurance approval is the biggest hurdle of all! Will keep updating as things progress.

Dr. Cooper and his staff are great. From the start Dr.Cooper answered all my questions and address my fears and the risks of surgery. He also addressed the emotional effects too. He makes sure that everything goes smoothly from the start. He follows up with his patient on regular basis after surgery. He informed me of a support group in Chico. His office sent me a packet with information about the surgery and risks. Also sent a list of previous patients that had the surgery that agreed to have people call and talk to them about the problems and goals they reached with this surgery. Overall I would rate him as a straight talking, informative physcian. The previous patient that I called could not say enough about him and even the hopsital staff at Enloe in Chico respects him. He made sure that I was taken care of in the hospital and also made sure I was going everything I was suppose to do, such as walking.
I would recommend Dr. Cooper and have to several people already.

January 9, 1999
I met with Dr. Cooper this past Thursday. He
was very informative and straight forward.
He pulled no punches and asked some very
blunt questions. That in some odd way was
very reassuring to me. He didn't try to
sugar coat anything. He talked openly about
the risks involved, and he told me that if my
insurance denied it that I should appeal.
Diane, his office assistant, has been wonderful in answering my questions over and over again. I had many people, including my new primary care physician, tell me that Dr Cooper is the best and that his patients are VERY well taken care of at Enloe Hospital. I have only had my first appointment so this is all I have to go on, but from where I stand he looks great!

March 24,00- As time goes by, Dr. Cooper continues to be the same. When I had my drain tube out, I screamed and then cried. Not one word from him. I think that maybe he is very detatched because he doesn't want his patients to use him as a crutch. Just an opinion.

I met with Dr. Cooper 2/7/00 and he was very straight forward and to the point. He asked a lot of questions about my weight loss attempts, etc., some of which I wasn't expecting, but which were necessary. I was very comfortable with him right off the bat, which is unusual for me, especially since this was my first visit to his office. He wasn't cracking jokes the entire time, or holding my hand, but he was genuine, which went a long way in the confidence factor. He explained the surgery in great detail and he answered every single question I interrupted him with. When he was finished, asked me if I had any more. I didn't feel rushed, which was a refreshing change. I asked if I could call with any more questions, and he said it wasn't a problem.
