Have only had consultation with Dr. Schreiber.

First impression: Serious but caring. I liked that our consultation proceded as if he did not have anyone else waiting. He patiently listened to questions from husband and I and answered them directly and honestly. My husband was much reassured after meeting Dr. Schreiber.

I met with Dr. Schreiber on May 21, 2002. My first impression of him is that he is very competent, professional, and knowledgeable. He seems to have a deep concern for treating morbid obesity, and understands the burden it places on your health. We talked about my medical history and family history. We spoke about risks and complication rates. He stressed that it is not a "magic" solution and that it is more of a "tool". He spoke highly of group support and stressed that continuing with peer support (before and after) was very important. I am glad that he will be my surgeon and am now starting the insurance ball rolling. Wish me luck. The office staff was exremely friendly and they seemed pretty organized. I had heard that his bedside manner was not that friendly, but I found him to be very friendly and patient.

My first of impression of Dr. Schreiber was very favorable. He is knowledgable and answered all my questions and my mother's questions. He did inform me of the risks associated with surgery and that surgery should be the last option after all others are exhausted. He also informed me that 2 surgeons will be performing the operation. It makes me feel even more certain that I have made the right decision with having Cleveland Bariatric Center perform my surgery. They definatley have the patient's well being in mind. Also, the office staff seemed pleasant, though you could tell they were very busy. I have not been to 1 yet, but they have pre and post op support groups. After being approved, I received a surgery date in about 1 week. There is about a 3 month waiting list after approval to have the surgery.

Dr. Sonpal was very very kind - and willing to answer any questions. He had a genuin smile, and made me feel very confortable. I also had Dr. Linda Paterson in the opperating room. She stopped in to check on me every day that I was in the hospital. She was caring and very interested in every aspect of what I was feeling or going through. The Nurses as St. Vincents Charity Hospital were WONDERFUL! they were very attentive, and quick with pain medication. They did not make me feel like a whining complaining person, but cared that my pain was taken care of. It was a good experience.
The doctors stressed the Post op support groups, and other things they have to offer, such as clothing exchange, and workout room -they gave us a 24 hour line to call for any questions, or concerns - and a medical card in case anything should happen while I am out of town. I felt that after researching thees doctors they were surgically competent, with much experience, and low complications rate.. and thier bedside manner was wonderful as weel. I would recommend them to future patients in a heartbeat.

I met Dr. Schreiber for the first time today for my consultation. He is extremely professional and a very caring person. I liked him very much. I am now waiting on insurance approval.
After insurance approval, Dr. Schreiber's office was in touch almost immediately to set my surgery date. They are very thoughtful and considerate. Just waiting to do now.

In my consultation with Dr. Sonpal, my husband and I found him to be very delightful. He had a great sense of humor and really made us feel relaxed.

I had my consult with Dr. Schreiber on Jan. 29th 2002. He was very up front with the risks of the surgery as well as long term follow-up after surgery. He was pleasant and easy to talk to. The office staff were pleasant and helpful also. Dr. Schreiber has an excellent reputation in the field of Bariatrics and I feel confident in my choice of surgeons. I have done alot of research on bariatric surgery, and found St. Vincent's program to be one of the best in this area.

I really like Dr. Sonpal. I have been to see him 3 times now. Each and everytime was interesting. Hes got a great sense of humor. Hes a little nosey...ehehehhe!!! But I guess he should be. I trust him with my life completely.

On the day I met Dr. Sonpal, he was running a little over an hour behind schedule. So although I felt our meeting was a bit rushed, he seemed to be very pleasant and caring. What was most important to me is that he seemed very thourough in his assessment of me as a patient and I felt comfortable with his knowledge of what was being done. Again, although our time was rushed, he still had time to throw in a bit of humor which makes me feel very comfortable with his bed-side manner. He made it very clear that this is not a short process and that surgery is not the completion of the process. I have to continue with follow-up appointments as long as they are needed. This falls under structured aftercare, which I was very concerend about. I didn't want to be part of a mass experiment where the focus was on the surgery alone. I think I made a good choice. I just wish they would hire another surgeon so that the surgery dates aren't so far from the consultation dates.

Dr. Sonpal was very informative. The girls that work there are extremely nice, helpful, and seem to some how know exactly what we go through.
