Dr. Fry is a very nice gentleman. He treated me intelligently -- like I actually have a brain and know how to use it. So many Doctors treat me like an idiot. His nurse Neets is very helpful and extremely competent in her work. I am looking forward to a pleasant experience with the doctor and staff. Dr. Fry explained the VBG and Roux-en-Y procedures very thoroughly giving both the pros and cons of both. He prefers the VBG, but I want the RNY and he is going to do that. He clearly explained aftercare and what kind of diet is necessary for recovery and beyond. He answered all my questions very completely. Dr. Fry is still in the process of building a support-group system. But he has a list of resources outside of his practice, and involves my Primary Care Physician with the pre-op period and recovery. I feel that surgical competence is most important, but beside manner is also necessary.

Dr. Fry seemed very serious but he was very straight forward and I appreciated that. He answered my questions and told me that it was my choice to make on what type of surgery I wanted. His office staff was great at first, especially his nurse Neets. There was a bit of confusion with my pre-op and surgery dates that had me very upset because she tried to place the blame on me as if I scheduled my own pre-op and surgery dates. He does not seem to have a great bedside manner but I am rather impressed with his surgical competence and his willingness to answer my questions. There does not seem to be a support group in place at this time but you do get information about what you should be eating and where you can purchase some of the things that you will need including the liquid vitamins. Overall I would give him a good rating. Surgical competence is the most important thing that I was looking for.

Dr.Fry

Took time in explaining procedure I inquired about.
I have had a few appointments with him-so far what I gather is that he is one of the best. A good friend who is also a doctor referred me to him. I had to do alot of research on my own..there wasn't much information as far as pamphlets or packets on the Roux-en-y. The aftercare portion of this surgery was left to the psych evaluation department. I have not yet had this surgery. I am scheduled Monday 7/17 and I am confident that he will provide me with more then adequate information for post op care. Over all I would give him a good rating-so far. He took the time to really talk to me about his success rate and the risks of the surgery..he didn't make it sound like a cure all but a tool that enables us for weightloss. As a surgeon Dr. Fry did an excellent job! I am a little dissapointed however with the after care..I would have felt alot better had I been followed more closely by a team of health care professionals like a nutritionist and counceling with others who have had this operation..I found that you have to coordinate everything on your own.
