Ehrlich Bariatrics Bariatric Center

My first impression of Dr. Ehrlich was that he was confident and handsome and young. He is a busy surgeon, but I did get the time with him that I needed, in order to ask questions and get a certain amount of reassurance. His office staff is pleasant and most office visits have been brief and to the point. Since I had no complications during or since surgery, I believe that he is a very good surgeon. Dr. Ehrlich seems very pleased with my progress (116 pounds in just over 6 months) and I couldn't help but thank him again the other day when I had my six-month appointment. My life is approaching "normal" these days, thanks to his skill. Dr. Ehrlich and his staff stress the after-care seminars and support groups and individual counselling if possible. I learned more about the risks of surgery from the group seminar at Norwalk Hospital, which he and his associates hosted, than I heard from him in his office. I did feel well informed, though. I would rate him an overall 8 on a scale of 1-10 and I believe his surgical competence is stronger than his bedside manner. He was not happy when I was teary in the hospital and I felt a little alone, but his skill as a surgeon more than makes up for that!! He's a very nice, and giften man.

I heard about Dr. Ehrlich from a friend. So I decided to attend one of his seminars. At the seminar I thought he was very personable and easy to talk to. It is also refreshing to find a doctor who listens to you. He is very informative about the insurance companies. I have Anthem and was planning to have the surgery next year. But because of his knowledge I am hoping to have the surgery this year. I met with Dr. Ehrlich two days after the seminar, he is just incredible. I always rate my personal physician and ENT at a ten (out of ten). He is right up there with them.

I loved Dr. E, he was very down to earth and kind, the entire office is very patient and professional. I was confident in my choice as soon as I met him at his seminar.
I've been to other seminars but his was most impressive not because of anything he had to say in particular but because he had real patients there for Q&A, we were able to pair off and ask questions and get honest responses from individuals going through what we are planning to go through, that was the most reassuring part of the entire seminar.
The office has an incredible after-care program set-up and this impressed me most, they really take very serious your long term success and Dr. E emphasized the importance of utilizing the groups available. The success of the surgery is really left up to you and he made no bones about that, he pulled no punches and let all in the seminar know this was no "quick fix" and would require much work on our parts.
I looked into bariatric surgery a year earlier with another provider and things didnt work out and I am so glad they didnt, he and his office didnt show half of the concern for his patients that Dr. E and his staff have shown and I'm only pre-op.

Dr. Ehrlich was so very kind the first time I met him for my initial appointment. He took time to talk to me and was very interested in helping me with my goals.
My impression has only gotten better. He is so attentive to any needs I have.
The office staff is very competent, organized and kind.
There is nothing I don't like about Dr. Ehrlich.
He will be supportive pre op and most importantly post op. He wants you to acheive your goals.
He emphasizes aftercare a lot and expects you to follow up with aftercare as well.
He was very detailed about any possible complications.
I would rate Dr. Ehrlch an overall 10+
He is professionally very competent and his personality is so kind and gentle.

My first impression with Dr. Ehrlich was mixed. He was new in this field and had only preformed 2 or 3 other surgeries. I wasn't quite sure if he had had enough experience in this field. Soon after meeting and speaking with him , he assured me that everything would be all right and he was right. I have grown to respect him tremendously and in my opinion is one of the finest Doctors and surgeons I have come across. I can say that because I have and have seen alot of doctors in my life.
His office staff is the best. They are easy to talk with and always willing to help.
Dr. Ehrlich is always stressing the importance of aftercare and support groups and in my own opinion they are crutial to your long term success.
When it came to the risks of surgery, I asked alot of questions and he always answered me truthfully.
I would rate Dr. Erhlich as a stellar Doctor.
He is one that I have the utmost confidence
and respect in and would recommend him highly.
You ask the question which is better surgical competence or bedside manner? That's a no brainer, surgical competence of course, but with Dr. Erhlich you get both.

Lovely man, very competent and available. The office staff is extremely capable. It has become somewhat more difficult to get an appointment with him because he is becoming busier so you must schedule fairly far in advance.
When I first became involved with the practice I considered most of their pre-op requirements to be annoying (therapist visit, etc...) but I have come to see how necessary they are.
He and his staff addressed all my questions and gave me more information than I probably wanted. His support groups are wonderful, however, they only meet in the evenings. He has nothing available for "at-home" moms during school hours.
I highly recommend him and his office.

When I first me Dr Ehrlich my first thoughts were of how professional he was, without being stiff. He knew what he was talking about. He also had a great sense of humor. He was able to answer all the questions I tossed at him. I had been researching the band prior to meeting him for almost 12months, so I asked a lot of questions. He never made me feel that my questions were stupid or repetitive (even though I'm sure they were. He took time with me and always made me feel like he had all the time in the world to answer any questions or concerns I had. Once I finished with all the prerequisites for surgery and had my insurance approval, Dr Ehrlich seemed almost as happy as I was. His bedside manner is only topped by his surgical skill. He is a kind and wonderful person. Even when he was reading me the riot act for “going off the wagon” so to speak, (while on vacation 4mo post op), he was sincere and concerned with my well-being as well as helping me in obtaining my goals. He’s very supportive during my follow-ups, as are all the girls in the office.
I chose Dr Ehrlich very carefully and was/am very satisfied with my choice. I have been an R.N. for 16 plus years, and have worked with all “types” of doctors, when choosing a Physician for my self I look for two main ingredients - exceptional skill and a compassionate personality. I found both in Dr Ehrlich.

I first met Dr Ehrlich at St Vincent Hospital for a seminar on the surgery. My first impression of Dr Ehrlich was that he is very professional and I felt very comfortable with him right away. As a matter of fact, he took time to meet with me privately that night to discuss some health issues I currently have. It really meant a lot to me to feel that he was taking that time to get to know me.
So far my experience with the office staff has been positive. The reason I initially chose Fairfield Bariatrics was because the office staff was so friendly and informative when I called to ask questions. I never got that with the other offices I called.
My first appointment with Dr Ehrlich was great. It was just a new experience in general to meet with a Dr who wasn't going to pre-judge me based on my weight. He was informative, open to my questions and very supportive of the fact that this is a huge decision on my part.
He was honest about the risks and the fact that this is something I am going to have to work hard at for it to be successful, that it's not just a "quick - fix".
I am currently in the midst of pre-op testing (which Dr Ehrlich called me at home personally to make sure I had made all my appointments - I've never experienced that before!) and I am looking forward to my next appointment with Dr Ehrlich and am hoping to get my surgery date - so it can start to feel more real.
Overall, I would rate Dr Ehrlich and his office a 8 - a perfect 10 would mean there was absolutely no room for improvement - which I cant say yet!

In a nutshell, I can't recommend this practice highly enough, both for the surgeons themselves and for their most excellent staff, from the medical folks to the office ones. Everyone has proven to be personable, knowledgeable, supportive, and sensitive.

I first met Dr. Ehrlich and the Drs. Floch at an informational seminar at Norwalk Hospital. They displayed a sense of humor from the start, which put me at ease, since I was more than a little nervous to be there. The seminar was full of info, but if you've done lots of reading on the 'net, not much of it will be new to you. I realized at that seminar that I'd gotten my consultation date wrong, and my mother was here from out of town to accompany me. Somehow, while I was AT the seminar, a gem of a woman from the office was able to change my appointment to the day I thought I'd had.

The consultation itself came the next day. I met Danielle, the PA, first. Just like the surgeons I'd met the night previous, she was cheerful, intelligent, and patient throughout my many questions. I met with Dr. Ehrlich next, who made sure I knew what I was trying to get myself into, and who (probably unintentionally) bowled my mother over with his charm and good looks. Dr. Ehrlich, if you ever read this, if you wondered why my mother was dressed up at the hospital... well, that's why. Cripes. Anyway... I finally met Mandy, who'd be handling things like insurance and scheduling. Later on, I'd find that Mandy is also superb at support in general.

This first appointment was mainly for them to gather information about me, for me to gather information about the procedure and the practice, and to make sure everyone's on the same page. All of that definitely happened, and I left the office with a huge checklist of tests to have, doctors to see, and appointments to make. I want to note here that this is the first time I've ever visited a doctor and not been made to feel at all ashamed about my weight. Instead, I felt understood and informed. Heck, I even came away smiling, as Dr. Ehrlich called me one of his "skinny" patients. He might be the first person ever to have referred to me as skinny. ;)

After fulfilling my pre-op requirements, I was rewarded with a phone call from Mandy to schedule my surgery. My insurance approval came only days later.

In the weeks leading up to the big day, I visited the office again and called a couple of times to ask questions. Every visit and phone call was met with patience and information on the part of this office.

The surgery went well, and Dr. Ehrlich took time to see me both before and after, and again the next day. I had kind of a weird experience with my barium swallow the next day -- an uninformed tech made me really anxious -- but that, too, was handled with grace and reassurance from Dr. Ehrlich and the staff, immediately. When I had problems with pain and nausea upon my return home, a simple phone call each time remedied them.

Now post-op, I've so far visited the office a week after surgery, five weeks after surgery, and twice after that. I've called a couple of times in between with minor questions. One time in particular stands out in my mind, as I was emotional after surgery and feeling hungrier than I thought I ought to. I called the office almost in tears, and while I was probably very unpleasant to talk to, Mandy did everything she could to help me.

My fills haven't been all that easy. Despite that I don't have much fat over the port location, I apparently have a good amount of scar tissue, making it hard to get the needle where it needs to be. Danielle started my first two, tho they each eventually needed a doctor's assistance. But even with the difficulty, Danielle remains poised and comforting.

I'm only a bit more than two months post-op, but I'm more than satisfied with my choice of surgical practice. In fact, I've sent my husband there for an issue not related to weight loss, and Dr. Ehrlich and staff have treated him as well as they've treated me -- even, at times, going above and beyond their regular scope of practice when other doctors have shrugged their shoulders and referred him elsewhere.

Dr. Ehrlich is an amazing man! He has a wonderful personality and a great bed side manner. My first impression of him was positive, as he gave the initial seminar that I attended while deciding to have WLS. My impression of him only became more positive over time. He is very supportive and clearly wants what is best for his patients. His staff is also wonderful! Mandy and Danielle took care of everything, from insurance to calming my anxiety. Overall, I would recommend him to anyone who is considering bariatric surgery. He is terrific!
