I really like Dr. Cowan he seems like he can really help me

Doctor Cowan was very professional, and
he seemed to be understanding. He told
me that I would be able to do more things
and be more comfortable. My impression
of him has not changed.
The office staff is hard to deal with.
The insurance clerk is always hard to talk to.
They hardly ever will return a call. You have to
call back several times.
I know several patients that have had the
surgery, and it has been so successful
and has changed their life for the better.
They are following his aftercare program and
are doing great.
Be sure to research the subject of
gastric by-pass thoroughly to know the
risks of the surgery and the changes your
body will undergo.
Dr. Cowan so far rates an A so far. I
I will give him another rating later.
Dr. Hiler is also wonderful. These are just
my impressions of these 2 men.

Dr. Cowan was very understanding and I really felt like he can help me his office staff is very busy I feel like they need to keep in mind they are dealing with sensitive people about a very inportant medical problem

My first impression of Dr. Cowan was that he was going to be my surgeon, he was a spitting image of my grandfather who had recently passed away. I felt like that was a sign as my grandfather always worried about me losing weight and always encouraged me.

Dr. Cowan is very understanding of what an obese person deals with on a daily basis and he made me feel comfortable. He is strict and stern and allows no variation from the program, some may find that harsh I found it needed and welcomed. He is fair and I will trust him with my life.

I feel that his office staff is a bit overextended and I know there have been a few job changes in his office, hopefully the newer staff members will be able to help get things back on track. Although it may take a bit longer to get insurance info and such at times, I obviously really like Dr. Cowan as I am going to Memphis, TN for the surgery and aftercare and I Live in Birmingham, AL.

Dr. Cowan is a very nice and caring man. He really cares about his patients and I was really impressed with that. I would recommend anyone in or around the Memphis area to definetly go to him for help.

I called to make an appointment with Dr. Cowan in October of 99 and they told me they couln't get me in until March 2000, however I was still really excited. I live three hours from Memphis in Mayfield, Kentucky. When I got there I had to fill out a whole bunch of paperwork, which is to be expected. I didn't get called back for about 2 hours, however when I did, the nurse was really nice. I sat in the room for another hour and a half, I am just glad my mom was with me to keep me company. However, I must say when Dr. Cowan finally arrived I was very pleased. He was very nice, caring, and intelligent. He hugged both me and my mother before we left, and I felt very confident. After only two weeks, I talked to my insurance lady and she said I was approved for the surgery, but she was having trouble getting ahold of the insurance lady at Dr. Cowans office. So she and I both tried to reach her for another week before I got her on the phone. I am still getting the runaround and still have no surgery date. I am pleased with Dr. Cowan, I just think his office staff could be more corteous in communicating with the insurance company and patients, after all this is one of the most important things in my life.

Dr. Cowan and Dr. Hiler are two of the most wonderful two surgerons a person could ever hope to have.

I attended Dr. Cowan's Obesity Surgery Seminar on January 06,2000. I was impressed by his knowledge and attitude. He was very approachable and professional and tried to answer all questions. I called his office the next day to schedule a initial consult and was given an appointment date of February 10, 2000. I was told to not eat or drink anything after midnight the night before. On the day of my consult I had blood work done and was given a physical by Dr.Cowan. He discussed the surgery and how it could change my life- he felt that he would like to take a conservative approach with me due to my work schedule and my having to eat out on the road alot(not near a restroom all the time). He offered me solutions and alternatives and said that he would leave it up to me to decide how conservative I wanted the surgery to be. He was very friendly, as was his office staff. I feel confident that I am in good hands.
