The night I attended the informational WLS seminar I knew right away that I wanted Dr. Hendrick to do my surgery. I had absolutely no doubts. My first impression was that he was not only a very competent surgeon but that he really cares about the success of his patients. He had a sense of humor as he explained the details of bariatric surgery and had people laughing but he was also very, very serious when he needed to be especially when it came to laying out the expectations he has for his patients. In order to be his patient you must be comitted to play by \"his rules\"---if not then----\"you need to go find yourself another surgeon\". I loved that he was so up front with everything. Some people may be put off by his bluntness but I appreciate the fact that he is so very serious and 100% committed to every patient's success. Dr. Hendrick is a no nonsense kind of guy and he made it crystal clear that he pulls no punches, means what he says and even went as far as to warn us that he would be in our face if we fail to do what is expected of each of us after suregry. The Bariatric Suregry Center staff has been amazing. They have been so helpful with everything and never seemed a bit aggravated by repeated e-mails and calls. They are a skilled team and operate a very structured program---I am the kind of person who is very thorough--probably overboard thorough and I felt that the education I received on the medical procedures, risks, benefits, pre-op and post-op details were comprehensive and clear. My nutritionist, Rachel, was amazing and took a lot of time with me and gave me tons of advice and encouragement. I could not have done all of the preparation without the entire staff, Robbie and Keisha were happy to help everytime I called. And I have got to tell ya that when it came to the insurance approval process they totally rocked!!!! I feel like the whole office staff are like family and my personal cheerleading squad. I am sure the after care will be amazing as well and I will update that as it happens. rnI was just approved for my surgery yesterday (11/12/07) and am scheduled for my open RNY surgery on 12/12/07.

When I first met Dr. Hendrick my first impression was that he cared for his patients, and that he was very patient in explaining all the options available to potential patients. This impression did not change over time.rnDr. Hendrick is a no nonsense guy that tells you what you need to know. He is honest and he dosnt suger- coat anything he tells you, the good along with the bad.rnHis staff are some of the most helpful and caring people that I have ever come across. rnDr. Hendrick and his staff have set up a program for their patients that explains everything you need to know pre-op and post-op.rnIf I had do do it all over again Dr. Hendrick would be my choice to do the surgury. I would not hesitate to refer friends and family to him. On a scale of 1-10, I would give him a 9 plus ( nobody rates a 10 )

So far Dr. H has been wonderful, I like the fact that he has a set number of requirements and he doesn't make exceptions for anyone. I feel good knowing he isn't willing to take a chance on my health. He says once he has done surgery on you , you remain a patient of his forever!!!! P.S. he has a great sense of humour and is easy on the eyes too!!! I will be having surgery on March 19th so I will update afterwards. rnrnWell here we are done!!! I have to say that I know I chose the right surgeon. When my daughter experienced complications following her open roux n y I KNEW I chose the right surgeon for us!! Dr. Hendrick was treating us like family, at times he was anguished over what may have caused her problems and did not let up the fight to get her all better. He didn't take any chances and delivered the tough news with no candy. He says it like it is and I like that!! It really helped me because I was consumed with worry but I didn't wonder once if he was doing the right things or doing enough to help her. 1 million life-long thank-yous to Dr. Steven Hendrick( an honourary extended member of my family forever!!).

Dr. Hendricks proved to be a very knowledgeable surgeon from the minute that I first met him. I felt very comfortable and confident in him and didn't need to look any further. His office staff is very knowledgeable in the bariatric procedures and nutrition. I loved Dr. Hendricks from the start, he's very straight forward and doesn't play games with you. If you are in this area I would certainly look into him - his program and the way he does things are a notch above all the rest.

Dr Hendrick is a great Doctor and Person.

I liked Dr. Hendrick right away. He made me feel very comfortable and really took his time in explaining and answering all questions. I never once felt intimidated by him. Amanda is so nice and such a warm friendly person also. I can't say enough nice things about them!

My first impression was that he seemed very down to earth and someone who didn't jerk his patients around.

Dr Hendrick is straight forward which I liked about him. All of the people in the office were very nice. They are a little disorganized though. I.E. Two or three people calling me to ask me the same question about something, or noone at all calling me back about a question I had. He does strongly encourage you to keep up with your after care appointments etc. I don't know much about after care yet. I'm just getting started.
Overall I would recommend Dr. Hendricks to anyone. He was recommended to me by a friend as well.
I think he has excellent surgical competence and bedside manner.

After listening to Dr. Hendrick speak, I knew he was just who I needed to be my surgeon. He spoke passionately and positively about himself and caring for his patients. He expressed his concern about your health and being there for you every step of the way. Dr. Hendrick explained his responsibility to you AND your responsibility to him and yourself. He establishes a goal, of walking at least 1 mile a day, beginning the day of surgery. Dr. Hendrick was so confident that I felt confident in my choice, of him, as my surgeon. Tenatively my surgery will be the latter part of January or February 2005. I will update as the process continues.

He is a no non-sense man and he is a genius.
I have not one bad word to say about him.
They are great the staff and the PCC's.

He wants 1 mile of walking and excerise programs.He also wants you to read the book that they give you and take care to follow it.
Yes he took care to tell me everything and addressed my fears it took 4 months to get ready for my surgery.
