Dr Krook was a fabulous doctor and i would do this all over again. The staff in his office are so friendly and helpful and make me feel so wonderful. They are so careful about making sure you are well prepared for surgery and afterwards, and there are no surprises. I would give Dr Krook a 15 on a scale of 1-10...he is awesome!!

Dr. Lederer was my dad's surgeon as well as mine and I believe that he is truly passionate about what he does and genuinely wants to save peoples lives. He is very confident and takes time to make sure his patients recieve the best possible care. I was most impressed with how he worked with me in regards to pain management options because I am a recovering alcoholic/addict and was very concerned about pain medication. We talked about it thoroughly and made a decision together. My only complaint is that there is often a VERY long wait at follow-up appointments - too many people scheduled too close together and that is very frustrating. Your total time with the Doctor is about 5 minutes and you end up waiting for up to an hour after your scheduled appointment time. I believe that Dr. Lederer is a phenomenal surgeon!! I have had ZERO complications, my incisions are almost invisable today!! Dr. Lederer is great!!! The bariatric program at HCMC is very thorough and addresses so much more than just the surgery but stresses the complete lifestyle changes that are NECESSARY for success before, during and after surgery!!!

My first impression of Dr. Krook is that he is patient and thorough. He took the time to answer all of my questions about surgery, about himself, and any other questions I had. He educated me well and made sure I knew just how deep the decision to have this surgery is. Now post-surgery, I have to say, the man is good. He has a great bedside manner, made sure I was ready to home --he didn't push me out of the hospital. I LOVE his nurses. They are absolutely great. Very available, very infomative...and it may sound silly, but my name is Margaret; however, everyone calls me Peggy. The nurses made sure that everyone knew that I go by Peggy and I was called that throughout. I have never really had that from a doctor.

He is an angel. He truly cares about his patients and is really a nice guy. I would give him a ten of ten and I look forward to the process. He stated that he is available 24/7/365. That is dedication.

Dr. Jon Krook is the most wonderful person one earth. When I first met him he came into the room saying "without even looking at your chart I could tell you are diabetic". He sat down rolling the stool over next to me so we sat elbow to elbow. He went over all the risks and benefits to WLS, by making a pro and con list. He drew diagrams, answered all my questions and made me feel so at ease. I never feared the surgery (To this day Dr. Krook is at my elbow reminding me "I am only giving you the tool to lose weight, it is up to you to use it wisely.") He told me he would give me a body to match my nice legs. (I have those skinny bird legs.) Each time I have seen Dr.Krook my first impression has only grown stronger that he was the right surgeon for me.

Dr. Krook has left Unity Hospital to go to Hennepin County Medical Center. I will follow him for my post sugery care.

The office staff are all very warm and friendly. I never felt like they were looking at me as someone who had no will power. They all gave me the impression they really care about each and everyone who is about to have or has had WLS.

I honestly can not think of anything I did not like about Dr. Krook. When I was in the office just for a check up with the nurse he walked through the office, stopping to say hello, cheking up on me and giving me a big hug. Asking me if I was happy I had WLS, I told him I was very happy!!

Aftercare is high on the list of things to do. Getting into a routine and sticking to it also helps. After care is set up for every three months after surgery. I meet with one of the nurses and we go over everything. After the first year aftercare is only required once a year unless a person has some issues they want resolved.

On a scale of 1 to 10...........Dr. Krook is an 11. He is tops in my book. His bedside manner and his surgical competence are both GREAT. I had gastric by-pass surgery the lap way..........I was back to work in two weeks.

Dr. Krook has remained in contact with my via e-mail since he changed hospitals. I know if I ever need anything he will be there for me.

It has been seven month today since my surgery. I feel GREAT, have so much more energy, love to go clothes shopping fitting into much smaller sizes. Or holding something up thinking that will never fit and then going to try it on only to find it is too big!!

When I first met Dr. Krook, I thought...hey, are you old enough to operate on me? But, he quickly made me realize he knew what he was doing. He was very knowledgeable and made sure all my questions were answered. He made me realize that he was quite capable of taking care of me on the operating table. Overall, i wouldn't change who I had do my surgery. He did wonderful, and he helped me to gain a new life, essentially!

When I first met Dr. Krook it was at the intro meeting offered through Medformation. I thought he is young but has a outstanding recovery rate. As my date grew nearer I was anxious to met him again. I would have to say that Dr. Krook may be young, but tells you the way it is, straight forward, up front about everything, sets you at ease and really listens.
I would highly recommend him to anyone who is considering WLS.
The staff at the clinic is awesome and really care.
Overall I believe that Dr. Krook had a great bedside manner and dealt with all risks before and after surgery. Very true to his word. We need more doctors and nursing staff like this team to help educate people about WLS.

Dr. Lederer is incredible. He is very upbeat, vivacious, self assured, caring, concerned, energetic, compassionate and more. He knows what he is doing and gives you information about his own statistics and those nationally. I would recommend him in a heartbeat. Additionally, his team of Dr.s, nurses and staff are unbelievably helpful.

I went through the entire approval process elsewhere, but the surgeons there were only comfortable performing a lap-band because of my previous gastro-intestinal medical history. My insurance won't cover lap-band. The nurse coordinator at this clinic suggested that I ask Dr. Lederer if he would be willing to do the surgery even with my background given that he has so much experience with more complicated cases. He was very accessible, open to my input and bottom line, he agreed to do the surgery. The approach at the HCMC program is very thorough and structured, both pre-op and post-op and one of the unique things about it is that everyone is very accessible. Special mention for Jen, who handles insurance approvals and other communications. She was very helpful. Dr. Lederer is really dedicated to helping people change their lives. His statistics are phenomenal in terms of very low complication rates. My surgery was extremely smooth, as was my recovery. I really felt like I had the best surgeon in the region. And he is very sincere, respectful and easy to talk with. The nutritionists and nurses are great, too, and there is a bariatric medicine internist in the group as well who makes sure you do everything you can to have a healthy post-op life.
