Houston Bariatric Surgical Associates Bariatric Center

Before I even met Dr Glorsky, he called me and we had 2 30-45 minute conversations on the telephone. He has just gone into private practice. I feel very confident in my choice. I went to his seminar and had one office visit with him and my impression of him has not changed. His receptionist's name is Helen and she is very nice and helpful. They put a big emphasis on aftercare. He sent me to this website and had me meet with a nutritionist, so that I could be sucessful. By the way, the nutritionist said that he's awesome. The risks of surgery were addressed. So far, I would rate him a 10, but only time will tell. I was very suprised to find a surgeon with great bedside manner, but I'm extremely pleased that I've found Dr. Glorsky.

My first impression of Dr. glorsky was Wonderfull! He made me feel like I was more then just a paying client. I felt like he really cared about my case. Dr. Glorsky is not a 9 to 5 doctor.. He is a 24 hr doctor! No matter what time a day or night he was there for me. If there was a problem, he would call the Hospital or even come down to see what he could do for me! I first met Dr Glorsky in May of 2002, and I had my surgery December 2003.
Any future patients need to know that, Dr. Glorsky is totaly dedicated to his patients. he does not like any other Doctor to interfere with his patients. He want to Always be informed with any problems regarding the surgery. Even if you feel you dont want to both him, he wants to be bothed, no matter what time of day or night!
Dr Glorsky emphasizes the importance of aftercare. To avoid any problems in the future, he has said afercare is really important! Dr. Glorsky gave me information about this site to help in my aftercare support. He does have a suppost group, but I live So far away and have two infants. So this web site is just wonderful!
The only negetive thing I can think of would be Dr. Glorsky can be alittle short tempered with eather the nurse staff at the Hospital or even with me a few time when I was not good at describing my symptoms.
But in Dr Glorskys defence, My own mother (who is a nurse) gets mad at me for not being able to describe pain problems well..
Overall, I would say that Dr Glorsky has to be the best Dr. in the city of Houston if not in the country!

December 3,2002 was the first visit with Dr.Glorsky and my first impression of him was "Wow, He's young" but that suddenly changes when you talk with him and find out how respectful,intelligent and caring he is. Right away he made me feel at ease (that helps so much)
He answered any and all of my questions. I have gained so much respect for Dr.Glorsky. I know that he works very hard for his patents. The day I had my first visit with him, his office staff was so busy but they are professonal and attentive.(thanks Connie and Monique) The only negative thing I could say would be the wait to see him. But, I knew if he had that many patients waiting for him, I wouldn't have anything to worry about. I couldn't ask for a better doctor.
Future patients should know that Dr. Glorsky wants them to be knowedgeable about this surgery and the potental risks that my be involved. This is not a "quick fix" folks. He means business.
If something is on your mind, ask. No question is a dumb question. Also, after the first visit, you will be scheduled for all of your tests (ie: Sleep Study, UGI,Ab Ultra-sound) but you need to find someone for a "Psch Eval"
Make sure you follow-up with all these testing centers. Call ahead to get directions and other info. Don't forget those referrals from your PCP if you require them.
It might seem slow at first but time will fly by. Now, I'm just waiting on the day of surgery to come. All the work is worth it.

I had my surgery on December 2, 2002 with Dr. Steven Glorsky. I cannot say enough good things about him. I originally went to see Dr. Frank Moody, who is the surgeon that performed surgery on my two sisters. Dr. Moody informed me that he would be retiring but that he would refer me to his associate, Dr. Glorsky. Well, I was a little hesitant at first, but cannot even begin to tell you how wonderful he has been from start to finish. Dr. Glorsky never makes you feel rushed and he never acts like any question is too simple. I am about to leave for Houston for my followup visit today, and I look forward to seeing him and hope that my progress is to his satisfaction. He has a very good after care program that includes a visit with a nutritionist, gall bladder medication, multivitamins, calcium, and protein supplements. Today I expect him to add an Iron supplement and a prenatal vitamin. He does not just do the surgery and leave it up to you to figure it out. He and his staff are with you all the way. Even though he trained under Dr. Moody, Dr.Glorsky has taken what he learned to a new level and has added his own components in the way that he attaches everything. My father thinks the world of Dr. Moody, but told me that he thinks I have the better surgeon. Thank you Dr. Glorsky. I started out at 285 and am down to 245 at 6 weeks post op. Dr. Glorsky's surgical competence and bedside manner are without a doubt the best I've ever encountered.

12/17/2002 - Today I met for the first time with Dr. Glorsky. I was very impressed with both him and his office staff I can't say enough good things about him so far. He is very dedicated to the patient and their health not just rushing them in and out trying to make money. He really does show that they care about what is happening with the patient, they have a extensive siminar that they require all prospective patients to go to, they require you to see a psychologist, a nutritionist, have a upper gi, a x-ray of your gall bladder, and a sleep study/breathing study done before you can have the surgery. I have spoken with a couple of other Dr's and they don't require any of this except the GI and Gall Bladder test done. He also has a extensive after care program and support group which I think is very helpful in the road to Thinness.

Since my BMI is not up to par with Dr. Naamans staff I will be consulting with Dr. Glorskey and/or Dr. Scarborough.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~OLD SURGEON~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I have not yet met Dr. Naaman. I am very anxious and curious. I want a new outlook on my life and I am hoping I will find some answers there. I have faxed over a lot of paperwork to Pam at his office and so far so good. I keep myself motivated on going, and will as soon as I have the rest of the paperwork I need.
I will update you on when I finally go to meet him!
I received a letter from the office staff of Dr. Naaman and was told that his office will no longer be taking patients with a BMI less than 43. They have my BMI as 39? I need to set up an appointment with Dr. Naaman and at least talk to him.
I feel that I could not ask for a better surgeon! Dr. Glorsky was so nice & did not make me feel uncomfortable. I went to the first meeting he had about the surgery the night of June 12,2002, the day of my first appointment. He went into detail of the surgery, both pros & cons, and showed an actual video of a surgery. It has taken a little longer that I would have liked to get all the paperwork done for the insurance company. Alot of time went by with nothing being done because I was not told what was expected of me to do. But, all is well now that the papers have been filed.
I have not yet met Dr. Moody. I have an appointment for my initial consultation with him on April 10. I am nervous, yet excited at the same time. I was, however, very impressed with his receptionist. I have heard nothing but good things about him from other people in the Houston area. It did seem as though they would be able to get me in for a consultation rather quickly. I will update after my consultation.
Met with Dr. Moody. I thought he was AWESOME! The staff was very nice. I felt at ease the whole visit. He seemed very knowledgable. I found out while I was there, that he will not be performing the surgery himself, but another doctor will. This was a little disconcerting, since he is the one I had done my research on, but he put me at ease about the changes. He said he would still oversee the operation. They think they can do it laproscopically, which is totally cool. He seems to be very on top of things, and is quick. He said once I get insurance approval, I should be able to schedule a surgery date for no more than a month later... I am not so sure about their aftercare program, but I do know that he wishes to see me for follow-ups. He did mention the risks in great detail, although he didn't tell me anything I didn't already know. I would give him a fantastic rating. I would think surgical competence would be more important than bedside manner, but he displayed both to very good.
Pre-op. Dr. Glorsky is wonderful. He was able to do my surgery lap. I have lost over 25 pounds from date of pre-op. I am on my way. Dr. Glorsky's bedside manner is awesome! I am so grateful to have had this opportunity.
Truethfully, I was introduced to Dr. Moody by my PCP, whom is DR. Joseph Bedford, with the Herman Prof. Group. Dr. Brdfort has been my doctor for about 5 yrs. and he has in the past years tried to help me get my weight off in many ways...I have spent thousands of dollars over the years, but within the past 6 months he introduced me to Dr. Moody, who intern refered me to Dr. Glorsky.....I brought all, and I do mean all of my proof to him as to how many years/money that I have been battling my weight, I even brought in my medical records from my PCP to prove that i was having some medical problems because of all the weight. I instantly liked my visit to his office, for once in my life i didnt feel bad about being fat....he believed that I was in need of help for my problem--obesity. I then completed all my testing/lad requirements that he and AETNA required...I even went to a mandatory meeting that he requires, which is a question/answer session with him/staff/and other people whom he has already done surgery on....it was great and very informative, we even had a chance to view a film of an actual by-pass being performed.....I truely belive that GOD has put the right set of doctors in my life to help me take care of my problem, which is obesity...............thanks
