Going into surgery I was very scared about my surgery. Me and my best friend went to seminars, meetings, etc. Dr. Marvin was the best one of all. Most informative and their staff have been great doing the entire process.rnrnThe aftercare has been fantastic, support group meetings have been wonderful in learning new ideas to prepare food, to read labels in the super market and making healthy choices. Helping each other on what makes this life change better. Learning new exercise techniques and doing it safely.rnrnDr. Marvin is a very serious with the health care of his patients and is very informative on the up side and down sides to surgery. You know what you are getting into. rnrnThis suregery has changes my life, my best friends life who did it with me and my families. The first time I met Dr. Marvin I was impressed with how professional he was. His demeanor was so professional it was surprising when I first met him because he looked so young . When I met with him he made me feel at ease and I knew I personally was doing the right thing for myself. I would rate him and his office staff a perfect 10 they are all great people that really do care about you and do have your best interest at heart. If I had to do it all again I would in a heart beat with no time to even think about.

I had Gastric Bypass surgery on October 5, 2004 and since my surgery I have lost a total of 115lbs. My life has changed tremendously, in a positive manner. I see things a lot clearear I am now able to focus on life morerninstead of worrying about my weight. I love Dr. Marvin and his staff, In that they were a critical part of my surgery a success. I have had a wonderful 2 years o floving on \"ME\".rnMy health has improved and I can work outrnwith out hesitations 4 x a week, water aerobicsrnis my choice. Love the surgeon. He obvoiusly knows what he's doing. The administrative staff at his Park Plaza office, however leaves much to be desired. They are not organized, and I imagine that many people get the surgery date switch-a-roo like I got--3times--. His north side office might be a better option for you.

I've only met Dr. Marvin one time but I came away from that office visit with a very positive impression. He had all of my medical records, lab and test results, as well as the nutritionist's and psychologist's evaluations. As he explained the surgical risks he was very careful to speak in \"layman's terms\" and not medical jargon. Even though he did ask me dozens and dozens of questions, I didn't feel like I was being given the \"3rd degree\"; it was more of a conversation than an inquisition. I never felt uncomfortable, not even when he was examining me.rnDr. Marvin's office staff all seem to be very nice, too. His Office Manager (Nadine) is also one of his surgical patients and she has been so incredibly kind and helpful.rnIf Dr. Marvin has any faults, I would say that he seems to be unorganized --- when it comes to paperwork, anyway. Luckily, his staff members take care of that for him. rnWhile waiting in the waiting-room (I've been to his office 2 or 3 times prior to my visit with Dr. Marvin), I've spoken with some of his surgical patients .... every one of them praised Dr. Marvin; there wasn't a single compaint.rn**************rnSurgery was on 10/11/06; Dr.Marvin saw me before the surgery, spoke with my husband after the surgery, and saw me again the next day when I was discharged from the hospital. My husband said that Dr.Marvin was very good about explaining to him how the surgery went and what he expected to happen as far as my recovery. I would recommend Dr.Marvin to anyone that is considering bariatric surgery.

Dr. Marvin and the staff at OSS are the BEST!!! My first impression of Dr. Marvin at the seminar was that he was polite & professional! Before my surgery he explained everything clearly; risks & benefits. His surgical competence & bedside manner are both EXCELLENT! He also has a thorough pre-op testing regimen. I discovered during my pre-op testing that I was iron deficient, I was not able to increase my iron levels with supplements, I had to have an iron infusion. Dr. Marvin would not perform RNY, due to my iron problems - I had LapBand instead! At first I was frustrated, because I really wanted RNY, but quickly realized his experience and knowledge of the procedures - he knew what would be best for me in the long run. This impressed me most, and I respect his desision not to perform a procedure that would endanger my health in the future. He TRULY cares for his patients!rnrnThe staff at OSS are always very professional and polite. They make sure that you understand everything about the surgery, and answered ALL the questions I had. (And I had many!) They are ALWAYS helpful and patient with my questions and concerns. Dr. Marvin & his staff encourage routine aftercare and support group meeting attendance. rnrnI'm pleased with my experience and would recoomend OSS to ANYONE! And have! : )

Dr. Marvin seems really great. He answers just about all questions you might have before even asking. Debra, the lady who takes care of insurance matters, is really great also. She is trying to make sure things go very easy, so far. He makes you come back every 3 months to make sure everything is going good. If anybody thinks about going to see Dr. Marvin, definetely go.

Okay, I scheduled and attended my first appointment at Dr. Marvin's office...my first impression of Nadine was \"oh great, why have some skinny woman lecturing all of us fat people?\" Well, as those of you who are using Dr. Marvin know she is a product of gastic bypass...and she looks GREAT! All of my experience thus far has been with Dr. Marvin's office staff. They have been remarkable. Everytime I call the office they are always more than happy to answer my questions...even the one's I think are crazy. I went to the seminar at Methodist last night and needless to say it was extremely informative. I have done extensive research on the RNY but to have a doctor stand up there and tell you about it is totally different. It put my mind at such ease...I have a 4 year little girl and I can't wait until I can run and play with her! I already have my psych and dietician appts. Everything seems to happening so fast...but I SO VERY EXCITED!! Once I actually meet Dr. Marvin I will come back and update...WISH ME LUCK!

Dr.Marvin is a very nice person. He explains everything so clearly. After surgery my family just love Dr. Marvin, he left a lasting impression on my family. For him to be so young he is very patient. And the staff is wonderful they make sure that you understand everything about the surgery.Any questions you have there will always be a staff member able to assist you . The dietician is awesome she really knows her stuff. And the information that we were giving before the surgery was very helpful.Thanks for changing my life.

WHAT AN EXPERIENCE. I HAVE NEVER BEEN TO A SURGERY CENTER THAT HAS BEEN SO HELPFUL. THE PEOPLE AT THIS PLACE REALLY SEEM TO CARE ABOUT YOU THE PATIENT, NOT JUST ANOTHER POTENTIAL PAYCHECK. DR. MARVIN IS VERY THOROUGH IN HIS PRE-OP VISIT, AND MAKES YOU AWARE OF EVERY POSSIBLE OUTCOME, WHETHER GOOD OR BAD. HIS STAFF IS TOPS WHEN IT COMES TO PATIENT CARE. I AM TRULY GREATFUL THAT I DID NOT END UP THE SURGEON I SEEN BEFORE HIM. THE AFTERCARE PROGRAM IS WONDERFUL. I JUST CANT PUT INTO WORDS HOW GREAT THIS STAFF TRULY IS. BETWEEN ONE AND TEN, I WOULD GIVE DR. MARVIN A 10. BETWEEN ONE AND TEN, I WOULD GIVE HIS STAFF A 20. I AM EXTREMLY GLAD I HAD THE SURGERY AND WOULD RECCOMEND OBESITY SURGERY SPECIALIST TO ANYONE. ANYONE!!!!!!!! I EVEN HAVE A FRIEND WHO IS NOW MAKING ARRANGEMENTS TO HAVE THE SURGERY.
