Well I met Dr. Marvin today 7/31/06 he was up front and a nice guy; we have scheduled surgery for 8/14/06 he took over when I fired my other surgeon who was not confident in his ability to perform a surgery. Which was a blessing to me since now I have a doctor that performed somewhere close to 500 rny procedures? I will update this after surgery. But I have nothing but good thing's to say for Dr. Marvin as of now, he took me on when most in the office more than likely thought I was hard to please. Since I had done away with the first surgeon being they work out of the same office. Ok had lap on 14th with doc was not impressed with 12 Oaks. But had problems went to Methodist same doc opened me up spent 10 days there much better. For more read my profile.

Hello, I am 1 week bariatric bypass surgery post-op and 17 pounds lighter!!!! My first impression of Dr. Marvin at the seminar (06/10/2006) was that he was very knowledgable of the various procedures of surgical weight loss. I also felt that he was very personable and had a great bed-side manner about him. He and his office staff (especially Angie) address all of our concerns individually and I felt confident that he was the surgeon that I would have perform my surgery. At that point, I set out on my journey to complete a 3 year research plan of the bariatric weight loss surgery treament. Within weeks of the seminar, I was approved by my insurance and accepted into the OSS program. Between 07/24/2006 and 08/30/2006 I was scheduled with several specialists for necessary screenings for surgery clearance. On 08/30/2006, I met with Dr. Marvin for the last time prior to surgery for my final pre-op physcial and exam. I was on my way to a life changing event! On the day of surgery Dr. Marvin and his staff at Renaissance Hospital in Houston, Texas were absolutely the best. The hospital may not be on the best side of town on in the best neighbor but once inside that complex, I was made to feel right at home and comfortable. I felt as if I were at one of the other hospitals in the Medical Center!!!! I would not have wanted to be anywhere else in the world for my surgery or with any other surgeon than Dr. Marvin!!!! Now with the surgey behind me and on the road to recovery, I can truly say that if I had it all to do again, \"Yup, in a heart beat\".

rnHi, I'm Diane.rnrnThis lap-band post surgery patient is a happy camper. Why you say, well for one thing this works. I'm four weeks out with less chronic pain in spine, knees and rest of my body.rnrnLet me go back to speak of my surgeon, Dr. Robert Marvin.rnrnHe was professional, and caring. I wanted the most extreme surgery, but ended up with rnthe lap-band due to having barrett's esophagus. Dr. Marvin advised me that the lap-band would be best with my medical history. Understand that another doctor would have given me my first choice; however I trusted Dr. Marvin's decision.rnrnSurgery, and the immediate pain after surgery was really nothing. However, other patients were leaving the hospital while I was making relationships with the I.C.U. staff. I was with them for 5-6 days due to swelling that had to go down before I was dismissed.rnrnMy biggest inconvenience in the I.C.U. was being hooked up to machines and I.V's., etc..rnI was ready those days to just get out as fast as possible (even if it meant having the surgery undone).rnrnThen, I was blessed by a visit by Angie Flores.rnAngie was so encouraging and positive and assured me that I would get through this period.rnrnDr. Marvin and I had discussed the possibility of my having a larger band put in if necessary. He also informed me that if we put in the larger band, then I would have to have more fills.rnrnThe swelling came down as Dr. Marvin had suspected that it might; allow me to be able to hold down liquids and solids. I was heading home with new hope of a truly new life.rnrnThe entire office staff is caring professionals.rnMy post surgery visits have been great, with weight loss. rnrnClothes for church (pastor's wife) are falling off of me. I have had to get some things cut down (just three weeks post op.). rnrnExercise is important, and I had an answered prayer. The Livingston swimming pool is now opened year round. My husband and I have been in Onalaska, TX. For 28 years, and this pool is the closest one to me with aerobics. I've been disabled for seven years now without a way to exercise in a year round pool.rnNow, I have no excuses for proper exercise for my chronic health issues.rnrnI'm looking forward to getting 100 lbs off in order to get my double knee replacements, and to rehab off those two surgeries. I'll be able to start walking and I hope to start riding my bike for exercise.rnrnMy family has been a big encouragement both before and after as well as my church which is Onalaska First Baptist, S.B.C..rnrnOne of my daughters Tiffany has already taken me shopping at Target next to Catherine's where I used to have to go for clothes. I used to choose bright prints for tops and solid pants, etc., but now I'm into sharp solids with grays and blacks for fall with interchanging skirts or slacks, shirts, sweaters, jewelry, etc.. I’m having lots of fun with this process.rnrnToday is my first month post op visit. On the way I passed up many restaurants, and just had a ball not being hungry.rnrn After my visit today, I will drive to Copperfield to play on the floor with Hope (my one year old granddaughter). LeAnn her mom, and dad Luke will have me stay overnight for I have to get back to town for my pool workouts.rnrnHas my life changed for the better? Having been bed ridden for over six years due to chronic pain in the thoracic spine, I should say so.rnrnI very seldom lay down during the day now. I do have to rest from time to time in my recliner, but this is due to irreversible damage in my spine prior to weight loss surgery.rnrnI used to take eight medicines a day. Now, I take three; and started taking just three immediately upon arriving home from the hospital.rnrnRemember, to drink your eight glasses of fluids a day. Try to walk as much as possible.rnFor me it's the pool. Eat properly, and take your vitamins. Follow your doctor's orders and other staff recommendations. Remember you are not alone and can call Obesity Surgery Specialists @ 713-803-7777.rnrn

My first impression of Dr. Marvin was man he looks so young. But after he spoke to all of us at the seminar, I knew I was going to be very comfortable with him as my surgeon. The staff was wonderful. Ever time they had news from my insurance or just to follow up, they kept me posted. I would highly recommend Dr. Marvin and staff to anyone interested in the surgery, they care about you and they make sure you have all the information you will need. The staff informed me that it is very important to keep all aftercare appointments to succeed in getting your results.
