Kermie L. Robinson, M.D. Bariatrics Bariatric Center
I was very excited to meet Dr.Robinson he seemed very nice. I think he may have been having a bad day because he wasn't to talkative i didn't get to ask him all of my questions i was kinda nervous but he told me what i needed to know he was very gentle. His Nurse Elaine was a doll i just had a ball talking to her. She had the surgery herself and was kind enough to show me her scar it looked great! She is so small and adorable. They explained to me that after the surgery i shouldn't drink an hour before and an hour after i eat so my body can absorb the vitamins and stuff.Over all i would rate him a 10 and Elaine a 20 :)
My first impression of Dr. Robinson and his office was blaaaa.i really liked Elaine- his nurse and his staff seemed very nice. I have dealt with Rose mostly and she is very friendly. For the Dr. himself, I met him for the first time on Nov.14, and was not impressed at all. His office seemed older and outdated, I expected something more upscale and professional looking. Dr Robinson was not friendly, he just came in asked general questions and left. The nurse Elaine spent a lot more time with me covering the actual surgery - I don't remember Dr. Robinson really saying anything about the surgery. AFter attending the nutrition class I felt tons more comforatable with having Dr. Robinson perform my surgery. The nutrionist - Shannon McRobb - Was great. Dr. Robinson requires everyone attend a nutritional seminar. Shannon was well informed and seemed very excited for everyone that attended. I also attended a support group meeting and met a lot of people who are on the "other side" Any fears I had of Dr. Robinson or Rockdale hospital were put at ease. I completed my psych eval on Dec. 4 and everything was a go on Dec. 9, except I now have to get a letter from my old psych. I can't really speak of the dr, because I spoke to him once and briefly. He has done this surgery over 100 times and everyone I spoke with has had great results. Overall I would rate my entire experience with Dr Robinson AND HIS OFFICE an 8. I hope to be able to write more things about Dr. Robinson after I meet him again.
I PERSONALLY FEEL THAT DR. ROBINSON IS AN AWESOME SURGEON, AND HE MAKE YOU FEEL TOTALLY COMFORTABLE WITH THE WHOLE PROCEDURE. HIS NURSE ELAINE (A GASTRIC BYPASS PT ALSO) IS WONDERFUL. SHE IS ALWAYS THERE TO HELP IN ANY WAY POSSIBLE. HIS OTHER STAFF MAKES SURE YOU HAVE THE TOOLS NECESSARY TO START YOUR PROCESS FOR APPROVAL WITH THE INSURANCE COMPANY.
I had my first meeting with Dr.Waits on March 20. I have not met Dr.Macik yet. Dr.Waits was very understanding and did not pass judgement. I hope Dr.Macik is just as good.
The respect has flown out the window. After I got denied by Cigna its like I got the "who cares" attitude from everyone over there. Was told flat out that I most likley would not get approved so dont get hopes up. That Cigna has got tough and will not approve like they once did. Asked what my next step is and was told "I dont know what to tell ya" Gee, thanks for all the help.

I called Dr.Kermie Robinson this morning to see when I could come in for a consult. I was VERY surprised to get an appointment for July 29th. Thats less than 2 weeks when it took 2 months for a consult with Dr.Waits!! SO far so good. I hope it goes well.

I got my info from Dr.Waits office and man am I ticked off. It seems that they sent a standard form letter to Cigna. Now I can understand that, they send so many BUT info in that letter contradicted info in my letter AND my PCP's letter! You would like to think that if a form letter is used that the info would be as correct as possible. No wonder Cigna gave me such a hard time!

My consult w/ Dr.Robinson was yesterday. I am so glad I changed surgeons! That is the best move I could have ever done for myself. First I met Elain, his nurse. She had WLS 14 months ago and looks great. She also knows her stuff! I came in w/ 3 pages of questions but she took her time and answer most. Gave me lots of info. Dr.Robinson answered the rest. The BEST thing about him is he had a one on one meeting with me. Not some chessy group thing. He took his time to talk TO ME and respected my privacy. He is very soft spoken but very smart. I like him. I did not feel pressured into making a decision, just told the straight facts. (the other surgeon told me if I didnt have the surgery I would die, period) And talk about the difference between Karen and Rose. Karen is the most pissy, rude, ill tempered person I have ever met. Rose is just the opposite, like night and day. And she is willing to help in any way she can.
Dr. Robinson was very nice and was reassuring in the knowledge he provided me concerning the surgical procedure and how important the aftercare would be, he also explained all the risks associated with the surgery. He's mostly all business and on the quiet side, but I liked him and felt confident about my choice of a surgeon, even though I am well aware that complications can arise regardless of the doctor you choose. These could be due to the poor health of the patient to begin with or incompetence by the doctor you choose or simply fate, as for me personally I feel I have made a good choice in Dr. Robinson. The office staff is very nice, whether over the phone or in person. They're is a support group that meets the first Wednesday in each month, I've attended one, and its great to talk to others seeking surgery and see the results of patients that are on "the losing side". You can get a lot of info and help from everyone you meet there.
My first impression of Dr. Robinson was that he was quietly friendly and helpful. (And very smart!) I was very comfortable asking him all of my questions and he encouraged them. He answered everything my husband and I asked candidly and honestly. Rose, the insurance person popped in to let me know what I needed to do next and really put me at ease. Elaine, his nurse who has actually had bariatric surgery was very friendly and helpful. She was very good at making this big girl feel comfortable with getting on the scale and calculating my BMI. It was very obvious that they really care and treat ALL of their patients with dignity and integrity. I was very impressed and am looking forward to hopefully getting my surgery scheduled real soon.
Dr. Robinson is a very fine surgeon. He performed my surgery when I had a stomach hernia five years ago.I found out he started doing the Gastric Bypass surgery and got an appointment to see him in Oct. of last year.
He is a very thorough Dr. and his office staff are great! His nurse ,Elaine, had the surgery last year,so she knows first hand what you'll go through.Rose is the person who handled my insurance.I was turned down two or three times because I has bypass surgery before and it did'nt work. They said I wouldn't comply with the diet. Rose and Dr. Robinson kept working to get my approval. Finally in March I was approved.
Dr. Robinson was very thorough when he talked about the risks of surgery. He has a class with all his patients to go over all He is going to do and gives a quiz to see how well you understand what is going on. He also has a dietician there to let you know how you will have to eat.He also has a support groug that meets once a month.I would rate him a 10.He has great competence and a great bedside manner as I learned before.
My first impression of Doctor Robinson was that he was laid back, but very thorough. His office staff was very helpful, and they made you feel like you were there child, and they took you under their wing, and told you it was going to be okay. I would refer him to other patients definently. He empasises aftercare tremendously, and he also adressed risks and benefits very well. I would rate this surgeon as great, and even though I have not had the surgery yet, I feel that his competency, and his bedside manner should be nothing to worry about.
I was very impressed with the way my doctor explained everything to me.
In the past months with dr. Robinson , i couldnt be more satisfied him.
His office staff is wonderful , and very helpful .
