Weight Loss and Surgery Center Bariatric Center

I liked Dr. Lin at my first visit. The visit started with a video of him explaining the process, risks, benefits, etc. and then he came in to the exam room to see if I had any other questions and to talk about the process. He made sure I understood what I saw and what would be involved and took his time with me. My impression of him hasn't changed. His office staff has been terrific as was the care I received in George Washington University Hospital.
I am still in the initial aftercare stages but so far, so good. I am under the impression though, that it will be very good long term.
I would rate him extremely high overall. His surgical competence is probably higher than his bedside manner, but I have no complaints. I think he's a very busy man and I certainly never felt cheated with the time he spent with me and he always came across as very concerned about me.
I highly recommend Dr. Lin.

My first impression of Dr. Afram was that he was a kind and sympathetic man. He really struck me as being on top of his game and he was very knowledgeble of his field of work. His office staff is very nice and helpful. Nothing but pleasant people. Also, there is a strong emphasis on aftercare and group support which is a plus. I also appreciated the fact that Dr. Afram did not sugar coat the surgery. He told me point blank all the risks involved.

My first impression was a very kind an gentle person. The office staff seemed very nice. I have just got my date so I will be seeing a lot more of them in the next few months....
Well as I had guessed I have seen my surgeon on many occassions. The best occasion was on August 6th 2001...the day he did my RNY gastric bypass.
He is wonderful he will stop an answer any question you have. His secretary (Sally) is wonderful and always pleasent on the phone.
DrA really stresses aftercare and I just heard about a program they have with a nearby gym. He is always full of encourage ment and a smile. The only problem with the aftercare program is that the weekly support group meetings are held at noon on wednesdays. An evening group is held one thursday a month. I would like to see more evening meetings.
He has wonderful bedside manner and came to visit me often while I was in the hospital.

I really thought that Dr. Afram was very knowledgable. I attended a seminar he did last April 2001 and just felt a warm feeling from everyone. He explained everything I wanted to know so I could understand. I love is office staff. Great bunch to work with. Dr. Afram offers such a great support system. He and his staff make all the arrangements for everything you need to do before surgery. I was impressed on how well organized everything was. I trust that he has your well being in mind before and after surgery. I rate Dr. Afram a 10.

I think Dr. Afram is a very intelligent and confident doctor. I understood everything that I asked and all the questions I needed answered, he had it! I would highly recommend him to anyone. He to anyone in the Washington Area. His office staff was very helpfull also. I bugged everyone so much that I know I got on someones nerves from calling the office so much. No one acted as though they were fustrated with me. On a scale of 1 to 10, he would get a 10 from me.

Dr. Afram seems very concerned about his patients. I have been to some Doctors that really seem like the could care less about the patient and more about fame and fortune. Dr. Afram has an entire support team set in place for every patient from the insurance approval to support years after the surgery. Dr. Afram has explained very well what I will be experiencing, risks, and benefits of the surgery. He also is very frank with what he feels whether it be a good idea to have surgery or not. I feel very comfortable with Dr. Afram, my life is in his hands.
I live 7 hours away from Dr. Aframs office and he has worked with me and my local doctors to save me the time and expense of travelling to D.C. for tests that I could have done at home. Also support on line is a great help to me.

Dr. Afram seemed to be a humbled man, very informative and pleasant. His staff is very helpful and the office has a calmed feeling that overcomes you. There is nothing now, that I can say that I least like about him. Maybe I can answer this question better over time. Dr. Afram was very informative and made my husband feel very much comfortable with the entire procedure. His perspective on aftercare is a must. He makes it mandatory that you continue all of your aftercare and they have a very comprehensive aftercare program. Explained all the risks of the surgery in great detail. Overall I would recommend him.

I had my first meeting with Dr. Afram yesterday, and let me tell you, I was impressed. He made me feel very comfortable, and I did not feel that he was judging me because of my size as he spoke to me. I had several questions I wanted to ask, and he answered every last one of them, before I could ask.
What I really like about Dr. Afram, is that he stresses the importance of behavioral changes, and the need to attend the support group meeting before and after the surgery. He also has an extensive follow up program, which I am happy about, because let me tell you I am a wimp when it comes to pain.
My rating for him on a scale of 1 to 10 would definitely be a 10.
I would suggest Dr. Afram to anyone living in the DC Area.

I did extensive reseach on surgeons performing this surgery. Dr. Paul P. Lin of the George Washington University Medical Center, turned out to be the kindest, most compassionate surgeon I've ever met. He patiently answered every question I posed and carefully detailed possible complication that may occur so that I was fully informed.
My appreciation of Dr. Lin, has only increased with time.
His office staff, Cathy his secretary, Annetta his surgical coordinator, and the others whose names I do not know, exhibit the same caring and compassion as Dr. Lin.
There is nothing negative about him.
How long one must wait for your first consultation appointment.
He insists on following each patient weekly/bi-weekly/monthly for at least 18 months. Then follow-up is monthly/quarterly.
Yes, see above.
He completely outlines EVERY possible risk, then resures you, based on your particular physical condition, how many of these risks are likely for you.
A+++
Both are excellent!

Dr. Afram was informative and kind. I have only had the initial consultation. The office staff is helpful. Although, it seems as though you have to keep in touch in regards to insurance status. Weight for Life handles all the insurance matters. However, after my initial denial letter, the weight for life staff told me, I probably shoud wait until the recent legislation in MD is in effect to try again. I not one who takes no for an answer, I wrote my own appeal and was approved. Dr. Afram emphasizes the surgery is a tool. He informed e of the risk and complications.
