Weight Loss and Surgery Center Bariatric Center

I have only seen Dr. Lin three times. Once for my consultation and then my surgery and the pos-op visit in the hospital. I am pleased with my surgery results. I had minimal pain following surgery. Dr. Lin did a wonderful job. rnrnI love Dr. Lin's office staff they are very friendly and helpful. Denise Johnson is my nurse practioner and I see her fo all of my follow up visits. She listens to all of my concerns and is very assuring of my progress.

The consult was great! I was very pleased and toally informed, Dr Afram as well as the ENITRE staff are very knowledgeable and understanding. He made it clear that this surgery isnt a quick fix, and that results can and may vary.rnrnHe also understood that we patients have done alot of research on WLS and the options in not only surgeons but types of WLS as well. I wasnt rushed, I wasnt left to feel as if I was just another fat patient seeking treatment. I love the fact that he insists on a life long aftercare program and that his office is easily accessible by metro.

The Bariatric Center of Excellence is the only one in DC. Dr. Afram has done over 4000 GBS's. His office has everything in one place for your pre and post op surgery. Very professional office staff who care about the patient. I get calls from the staff informing me of everything they are working on. I have not been left in the dark about anything and the response time when returning calls in exceptional.

The first impression of Dr. Afram, very professional. He is a caring doctor. He does not smile alot, but focus on your care is important to him. He is a very experience doctor in the field of weight loss surgery. He is the director of the center of excellence for weight loss surgery. His clients come from all over the world for his services. His office staff is very friendly and professional. Doctor Afram is not a doctor that joke around with his patients, me I like to make jokes to light things up alittle. He does not play around with his work at all. He will provide the best service possible, and know that you are in the hands of a experience skilled surgeon in the top of this field. Aftercare is emphasized alot and one of the requirements for surgery. Yes, structured aftercare program. Dr. Afram is very honest about the risk and or complications involved in weight loss surgery. He has an additional class at the hospital on the floor where the surgery is to take place. During the class they will show you the rooms, some of the tools that will be used after surgery. This is a mandatory class, non-attendence will cause your surgery to be delayed. Dr. Afram has a seminar at the hospital to discuss the risks of surgery as well as a meeting with him one-on-one in his before surgery. You can meet with him until you feel you are ready for surgery. You are encouraged to attend the support groups before surgery to ask questions of current patients. I would rate Dr. Afram as excellent in his overall care of patients. He is better in surgical competence, and less in bedside manner.

Although the rejoinder at the bottom of this page states that a 100% positive rating is suspect, I have absolutely nothing negative to say about Dr. Juliet Lee. She is a very skilled surgeon, who is caring and thorough. She trained under a surgeon who also has an excellent reputation and she is now training surgeons who are demonstrating her effiicient but caring bedside manner. My RNY (done lapriscopically on 12/28/06) went flawlessly, which is obviously attributable to the surgeon's skill and attention to detail, and I have had no problems since, which is attributable to my following her good advice to the letter. She insists on follow-up every three months throughout the first 18 months and sometimes sits in on support group meetings to understand our issuses better. She explained things well when preparing for surgery and does nothing but make you feel good about yourself afterward. She now enlists the help of a nurse practioner who is dedicated to her bariatric patients and a nutritionist whose primary focus is the bariatric WLS patients. All my impressions of and experiences with this doctor have been positive and helpful.

Dr. Lee is associated with George Washington University Hospital Bariatric Surgery. She comes well recommended by Kaiser (my insurance carrier). I wanted to have the surgery at GW because they are accrediated as a Center of Excellance in Bariatric Surgery.rnrnMy first meeting with Dr. Lee was very informational. She went over the risks of the surgery, she provided detailed information. She truly cares for each of her patients.

Dr. Lin did a great job on my surgery. He answered all my questions and my families questions. He appeared to very concerned about my comfort level before and after surgery. He wanted for me to be completely comfortable to go home when I was ready. He did not push me to go like other doctor's because of hospital costs. I felt that I was in good hands from beginning to end.rn

Dr. Afram performed my open RNY on January 15, 2008, and I've been completely impressed with his expertise, follow-up, and all the ancillary services his office provides. No, he's not the most \"touch-feely\" kind of guy, but his expertise is top-notch, and I have no doubt he cares deeply about his patients and their success. He is SO experienced with this (having performed the procedure nearly 4,000 times) that he is efficient and knows exactly what questions to ask and how to handle situations that come up. I had a complicated surgery (3.5 hours) and complications afterward, but those had to do with my individual circumstances, not Dr. Afram. I feel that anyone who chooses Dr. Afram for their surgery is in the best possible hands. And, for the record, his nurse practitioner at the hospital, Stacey, is *phenomenal*. She made a huge difference throughout my stay. In addition, Dr. Afram's practice AND the bariatric center at George Washington University Hospital are both designated as Centers of Excellence. If you're in the D.C. area, Dr. Afram is an excellent choice of surgeon.
