Minimally Invasive Surgery Center of Louisiana Bariatric Center

Dr. Barnes and her staff are awesome. Readily available whenever I have a need and understands why this is so important to me. Dr. Barnes gave me the goods, the bads and the uglies and we came up with a plan. She is clearly knowledgeable but down to earth and easy to talk to. Her office staff is very warm and make you feel wanted rather than just a number or nuisance.

When I had my first appt a year ago to get to know the Dr. Barnes I was really nervous b/c my pcp had recomended them and if i wanted this surgery it was them or nothing. so i was praying i would like them and let me just tell you i was more than satisfied with the manner and professonalism i experienced . in the past year it has taken me forever to get approved just because i am bi polar and my psych eval took forever and there were some communication problems btwn the therapist and the staff at dr. barnes office but after we got that cleared up i was speeding along to my surgery date. i quit smoking and dropped the weight required in a month. but thru all this i felt confident and when i had my scope i was laying on the gurney and dr. stephanie walked in and asked if i was ok and i said i was really nervous. and she really put me at ease. now that my surgery date is next week i feel confident that she will put me at ease before i go in for my rny. it also is nice to know there are two brilliant docs working on you so i feel pretty good. my complaints so far are minor and trivial and have nothing to do with the doctors themselves its just if you make an appt at their office make sure you have plenty of time because you will more than likely be there a good three hours two and ahalf waiting. other than that they have been awesome i am lookin forward to this surgery experience and i feel comfortable and confident that i have the best docs in louisiana!

My first impression of Stephanie Barnes was that she was very pretty. rnShe was a good speaker and looked like she knew what she was talking about. rnShe was very confident with herself and what she does.rnI haven't had surgery yet, and i also haven't picked a date, but I would trust her with this surgery. rn

Dr Barnes was very staight foward no sugar coating. I have met with him 3 times and no change, great office staff.I cant think of anything that I did not like about him. he emphasizes very much abot aftercare.yes he does have a aftercare program. he address the risk from A-Z.I would rate Dr Barnes a 10 and would recommend him to anyone.both great.

I first met Dr. Barnes while she and her husband, James Barnes, also a bariatric surgeon, were giving a seminar to their afternoon patients. My first impression of them were that they were extremely knowledgeable and optimistic of their work and of WLS. During the seminar they covered every aspect of the surgery, from pre-op appointments to post-op care and diet. The risks and benefits were discussed as well. After the seminar, I met independently with Dr. Stephanie Barnes. We discussed previous weight loss attempts, health history, family health history and other info that would be used for insurance purposes.rnI would rate Dr. James and Stephanie Barnes A+++++++! I am so happy that my insurance company finally approved me, because on July 18th, 2007 they gave me a chance to have a new, healthier life!rnrnrnrnrnrnrnrn

The husband and wife team of Drs. James and Stephanie Barnes are the best at what they do. Even though Stephanie Barnes was my surgeon James Barnes was there on hand if I had any concerns. The best thing about them is that you may have one of them as your surgeon but both of them are in the OR during any surgery they perform. I loved the fact that I had two sets of eyes and two sets of hands in there with me. There is no other surgeon around that will offer you that. I trust them totally and recommend them to anyone.

They were great. It was rough at first with them but I was too dedicated in getting my WLS. It took me 6 monthes to get everything done, and the only reason it took that long was bc I never got this package they send out to new patients with a list of what all you will be doing and which doctors you have to see, etc... I was very unhappy with them at first, and I think it was more the office staff then the doctors. Both docs are terrific!

At my first appointment/consultation with Dr. James and Dr. Stephanie Barnes, the whole office was great. As the patients and families sat in the waiting room, both physicians sat in with us and explained the two types of surgeries and their history and the difference between the types.rnI had done some research prior and had a friend that had it with great success with Dr. James Barnes, so I didnt have all my questions down like I should have.rnAfter listening to the class like, we then met with the nurse (Linda) and she took our weight and measurements. Then we met with the doctor of our choice. It really doesnt matter which Doctor you choose, because at this practice, the patient is cared for in surgery by two surgeons. They both are a great team and in my opinion, you cant have anything better than that!rnMy impression with the entire team was that they knew exactly what they were doing and I felt very comfortable with both of the Dr. Barnes clinic.rnI couldnt find anything that I did not like about the staff, I felt they all were great and they care.rnI have called the office since my surgery of the Gastric Bypass and they all have been quite helpful and no question is too silly to them.rnThe aftercare is very important in your recovery. The surgery is just a tool. Learning from the nurse and physicians of what you can have and the process you are making is very important to your outcome. The clinic is a team and they strieve to give the education to help the patient. The diet is much alot more strick than other clinic's, but you can do it. It is worth it, not to go back eating right away like some of the other weight loss messages with other doctors. These professionals do it this way for a reason and you will stick to the diets they set forth each time and Linda, the nurse is really good -she encourages you or informs you that you need to walk or whatever the case is. That support is very important with such a huge change to your body. It really affects your whole well being, by the way you follow the orders and diets.rnI have informed several people of the Dr. Barnes and Barnes. I think they are highly qualified to do these surgeries and I recommend them highly to anyone that is thinking about doing one of the surgeries.rnThe clinic has a class once a month, for two sessions, but because I live in Alexandria, LA, I havent been able to make one yet, but I will.rnThe whole team, the physicians and the nurse explain the risks.rnI rate the team a 10 out of 10.rnI believe everything about the two physicians/surgeons have everything it takes to make a great doctor. They have bedside manners, of course they are highly qualified and they are very pleasant to be around. Kind of like everyday people. They both make a great couple and they are doctors, so it makes it great for them as well as the patient.rnI had my surgery on 05/31/07. The surgery went great, I follow my diet and you have to exercise daily. I have lost 70 pounds and you do go through plateu stages and that is only to give your body time to catch up-they explain it better.rnI have had a few problems from other things, but I would do this agian in a minute. It is the best thing that I have ever done for myself. I was on 8-9 meds a day, sleep apnea, high blood pressure, diabetes to name a few. I am on no medications and feel better than I have felt in many years.rnThis is something to think about but when you do your research and look for a surgeon, you really need to fo see the doctors, you will be satisfied. Do your homework, find out about the surgeries, its risks and everything you can. Make up your mind and make that appointment for your first consult. rnWhen the nurse informs you of the weight you need to loose before surgery, DO IT! I know its hard. I think we all think, we have to eat before we cant eat again- so if we gain instead of loosing, you may not have your surgery on the date you want.rnThe staff makes sure we loose some and thats a good thing because they are the Doctors and nurses and they know what is best for us.rnThey dont just set our surgery appointment date up without giving us an exam and further examinations with specialist. They do this for our health and it is a good thing.rnAgain, I will recommend this team of professionals to anyone that asks.rnGood luck!rnrn

My first impression of Dr. Stephanie is that she was very caring and very concerned about my health. She was ready to answer any and all questions I had for her...including the tough one of \"have you every lost a patient and if so, how many and why?\" She was very honest and upfront about everything. She showed true concern for my health and she seemed very sincere about wanting to do all she could to help me become the healthy person that I wanted to be. It was also great to find out that Doctors Stephanie and Jim do all of their surgeries together. I had TWO skillful doctors working on me. ~ After my surgery while I was still in the hospital, Doctors Jim and Stephanie were very supportive and helpful. Dr. Jim came to check on me multiple times. He was sure to stress how important it was to follow their advice and after care program. ~ So far I have not had one negative experience. I am very pleased with Dr. Stephanie's professionalism, level of supportiveness, and the way that she truely cares for her patients.
