My first impression of Doctor James Barnes is that he was polite, neat, held himself well and very informative. He anwsered all my questions to my satisfaction and no complaints. Just ready to get approved at this point. 7/22/05

The first time I met Dr. Stehpanie and Dr. Jim Barnes I was totally impressed. They are so nice, caring, and totally upfront about the whole surgery. As time has went on I have come to grow fonder and fonder and Dr. Barnes and Barnes, they are so awesome in the aftercare, they are truely geniune to their nature. The office staff is great as well, very prompt to tell Dr.s if you have a concern or whatever. The whole office is very strong on aftercare, they are 100% believers in aftercare. The doctors are totally upfront about all the risks of the surgery and I found alot of comfort in that. I would have to give Dr. Stephanie and Dr. Jim a 110% on surgical competence, bedside manner. Overall I love them both and they are truely the BEST in the ARK-LA-TEX or anywhere as far as that's concerned.

My surgeon was Dr. James Barnes. He has been very good. He was very professional and seemed very concerned. His office staff has been very helpful. His OR nurse had this procedure about a year ago and she has been especially helpful and supportive. His pre- and post-op care has been great. I had to call him at home at one point, and he was very concerned and courteous. The only complaint I have is that I have had to wait for a considerable period of time during my office visits because of his surgical emergencies cases. Overall, he and his staff have been great. I couldn't have asked for better care.

Dr. Stephanie Barnes and her husband Dr. James Barnes work as a team. They really care about their patients and are really great people.



Their office staff are so helpful and nice people. Most of them have had the surgery themselves and give great testimonials.



In my opinion, the Barnes' are the best and most knowledgeable and caring surgeons in Shreveport,La.

They emphasize after care more than you could imagine. There are many check up visits throughout your first year and they want you to have a check up at least once a year thereafter.Their after care program is very structured.

During my consultation I didnt even have to ask any questions. They thoroughly explained everything for me.

On a scale from one-ten they would be a 14.

They were very nice. Ilove how she and her husband work together in their practice. They really seem compassionate about their work.The office environment is peaceful and comfortable.They really emphasize aftercare alot. They want to make sure that you make all your visits. They also emphasize the pros and cons of the surgery procedure.They seem very knowledgable about the surgery and their bedside manners were wonderful.

When I first met Dr's Jim and Stephanie Barnes I wasn't their patient, yet. I knew as soon as I talked to them, they were the most caring Dr's I had ever met. And I have met alot (I used to work in a hospital). I immediately called my PCM to talk about this surgery, and requested them. Lucky for me, I was approved for Dr. Stephanie Barnes, but I knew her husband was part of the "two for one" special. My husband even felt comfortable enough to deploy with me in the hospital under their care. I have had no problems what so ever and I firmly believe it's because of their post op care and diet.
Their office staff is just as genuine as they are. They are like one big family and they make sure you feel like a part of their family too. If I had any questions, they were all happy to answer them. I really haven't had many questions because Dr Barnes made sure to explain everything to me concerning the surgery and their after care program.
Overall, I wish more Dr's were as easy to like as these two. Thank you Dr. Jim and Stephanie Barnes for giving me my life back. I'm forever grateful to you both!!

The most thorough and kind person I have met in the medical field. My impression has only improved. The entire staff that work for the Barnes (her husband is her partner and they do all surgeries together, 2 for 1)are all like family and their nurse is also post op. So far I can't find anything that I don't like about Dr. Barnes. They are the best in the field. The stress after care like you wouldn't believe. Follow up @ 2wks, 6wks, 3mos, 6mos, 9mos, and annually after that, and all appointments are as long as you need and diet changes at each one. Dr. Barnes was very open and honest about the risks of this surgery and I felt completely informed prior to my surgery. On a scale of 1 to 10 I would give both Barnes a 10 plus. All areas of these two doctors are absolutly outstanding and I feel so very blessed to have been referred to them. Stephanie Barnes mother is a group counselor and flies from California to Louisiana once a month for our support group meetings and it is obvious where Dr. Barnes gets her bedside manner. I couldn't be happier in my life and Dr. Barnes and family were a big contributor to my happiness.

I loved Dr. Barnes from the moment I walked into her office. She is incredibly knowledgeable about Roux-en-Y gastric bypass surgery and about the pre- and post-op regimen. She is the most caring physician I have ever met. When I first saw her, she was in practice with another surgeon, but she and Dr. Jim Barnes have since moved into their own practice. I'm proud to say that I have gone to work for them! I have the opportunity here to help people who are going through what I went through in deciding to have the surgery, getting insurance companies to approve it, and following the diets given to them by the doctors. It's very easy for me to tell people how I feel about both of the doctors, because I trusted them, and still trust them, with my life.

I met Dr. Barnes about 5 years ago. She came to do a laparoscopic fellowship with the doctor that I worked for at the time. When she finished her fellowship she talked me into working for her. We are very good friends and I think she is the most excellent laparoscopic surgeon I've ever seen. She lets you know on the front end all the complications that could possibly occur. She lets you know how to care for yourself after surgery and how important it is to follow the rules and come to follow up appointments. Her and her husband are excellent surgeons and I couldn't imagine letting any one else operate on me or my family.

Dr. James Barnes is amazing! He's very soft spoken and makes you feel comfortable through the entire process. I would highly recommend him to anyone in this area. His staff is wonderful as well. His nurse had WLS a year or two ago and eagerly shares her experiences with you. He pushes aftercare very hard...and sticking to a strict diet as well. I'm now almost at my 1 year anniversary! WOW time flies!! I've had not one single problem since surgery!! NOTHING!! I stick to what Dr. Barnes tells me to do and it's been a breeze. WONDERFUL WONDERFUL WONDERFUL MAN!!!!! Thank you, Dr. Barnes!!!
