I felt that Dr Dickenson was a very friendly and professional doctor. For the most part the office staff was nice. The only thing I did not really like was that after surgery I say him only once and then he was gone for the weekend and I was left asking questions to a medical student. Don't get me wrong the medical student was very good. If I had questions he didn't knoe the answer to he went and founf the answer.

got a letter from Northern Colorado Surgical Associates today. They said my paperwork was in the active file and that it would possibly take up to four months to schedule the initial consult with them as they are so busy.I was surprised that they responded so quickly that makes it nice, at least I know that they received all the paperwork and are working on it.Saw the surgeon on the 31st of July and now have a surgery date all set up. Just waiting on insurance approval when we sat and talked to Dr.Pettine He was very up front about everything that was going to take place, my husband and I really appreciated his up front approach and he really gave us his full attention , we felt that he was prepared to sit there for any length of time to make sure that we understood each and every aspect of the surgery.

First Impressions were that this is someone who takes care of his patients. He continually put me at ease and never made me feel like I was a "Sub Standard" person because of my weight like some doctors and people do. His Offices are the same location as Dr Ottemans office. He is part of the same practice. As of my initial consultation, he said he has preformed about 75 of these assisting with Dr Otteman and 10 or so by himself.
HE was also extreamly forthcomming about the risks of the surgery giving the statistics and such in an informative way. The staff at this practice are always helpfull and a delight to deal with.

Dr. Quaid has assisted Dr. Otteman for about 5 years. He is now branching out on his own so that he is the lead surgeon and for a while, Dr. Otteman is assisting him. Dr. Quaid tells me that there are always 2 doctors involved in the surgery. The whole office is very involved in before and after care. They operate a support group which meets at PVH on the last Monday of every month. They also require before and after meetings with a dietician and f/u care on a regular basis with the surgeon. I've also been given information on who to call there if something is going wrong or if I have a question. The office staff are always courteous, but seem friendly only from the first actual consult on.
At my consult, Dr. Quaid was very open about the risks/benefits of the surgery and between him and Becky (the nurse), I learned not only national averages, but also how that compared with their office stats. Dr. Quaid strikes me as kind of quiet, honest, and caring in a reserved sort of way. I liked him.
From what I've seen and heard, it looks as though Dr. Quaid is looking into doing this procedure laparoscopically, but it may be a while before that happens.
