Paul H. Kispert, M.D. Bariatrics Bariatric Center

I am a registered nurse and consider myself extermely critical of physicians and hospitals. I was very impressed with everything and everyone at Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center. Dr. Kispert was very thorough in explaining the risks of the surgery. I felt he gave me all the time I needed to get my questions or concerns addressed. My primary concern was surgical competence. Bedside manner was not that important to me. Dr. Kispert had done aprox 300 bypasses when I met him and that experience was more important to me than how nice he was. In addition, he was very straight forward and was supportive. I was extremely pleased with all of the staff at DHMC.

He is very nice. I was very impressed that he was so straight forward and dint pull any punches if you know what I mean. This has been what seems such a long road to have traveled I started the process in April of 2001 and to finally be scheduled is awsome. The staff is very good if you take into account how many people that want to have this done(yesterday) and are very rude to the staff. I myself through dissapointments not to any of thier faults have been treated with the upmost respect. After care is very critical for a proper recovery. Be prepared have things set before ever going in so you won't have to worrie when you get home. All you have to do is concentrate on your healing process. I myself have a scale and several 2 1/2 oz stainless steel measuring cups to be set as well as a stock of sugar free pops and crystal light. Vitamins stocked as well as preparing some meats ground and measured to 2oz wrapped in plastic wrap and then placed in a freezer bag. This way I just take out what I need for the day. We went over every aspect of the sugery as well as any possible risks.I don't think you can be a surgon without developing your bed side manners. I will have to let you know after the sugery on that part.

June 6/2001 I met Dr.Kispert
I thought he was very professional man he explained everything in detail so that I would understand. He also asked me bout any questions that I may have, most of all he smiled which I knew right there that he had a nice bed side manner. As far as anything else im not sure yet, since I have just met him once till my surgery.
The staff at Dartmouth Hospital was very nice and very understanding with all the questions that I had.
As far as procedures are concerned with the Dartmouth Hospital . I found that I was very confused to as what I needed to get done for my surgery. Example when the meetings I went to yes they said we needed a Psyic Evaluation, I thought that the eval was involved in the procedure of all this surgery, and my pcp also thought that it was as well, but at least I can help others so this wont happen to them. My new surgery is now scheduled for October 11, 2001
I just want to mention that Dr. Kispert is an excellent surgeon, he did a great job on my incision and my care while I was in for surgery.

Dr Kispert is very knowledgable man who is very also very kind and patient...I met with him today (6/6) and was very impressed with him and his compassion for obesity patients...I would recommend him to anyone
His ofc staff for the most part is very nice and helpful
9/23/01 After having my surgery I have to say that Dr Kispert is an angel...He is the best Dr I have ever met....I truly love him :o)

Dr. Kispert speaks at the support group meetings at DHMC. He is informative, has a dry sense of humor & pulls no punches.
I met with him once and find him to be very vested in this surgery and very much against the present diet industry getting thousands of dollars from people like me who are overweight and statistically unable to lose the weight.
Office staff are very nice & helpful- they do all the preliminary work for insurances, appointments, etc. They are your first step to seeing the Dr. and they are very thorough. Good staff. Not gushy, but understanding & caring.
There is a tremendous emphasis on knowledge before the surgery & long term aftercare.
This is nothing to take lightly, but to really know all your facts & work on realistic expectataions.
Being a nurse myself, I would rate the overall program an A+.

Dr. Kispert is a fair and honest man, he is through and competent. I believe it was his demeanor that helped me feel more comfortable with the process and is not afraid to admit when he has a problem with something. If you have questions of him do not fear he will answer honestly and some may consider that a problem but I think it is great. Would I let Dr. Kispert operate on me again, well hopefully I won't need it but yes I would.

Caring & professional. Very thorough.
I was very impressed with Dr. Kispert, and still am.
The office staff was nice, but they take a very long time to get back to you. I would leave a message then have to call back 4 times before I could talk to someone.
Future patients should know that any question you have Dr. Kispert will give you the best possible answer, and tell it like it is. Aftercare is very important to achieve your goal. Dr Kispert did go over all the risks of surgery more than once.
I would rate Dr. Kispert as a 10.
Both his surgical competence and bedside manner were great.

I first met my surgeon during a support group at Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center in Lebanon, NH. The hospital requires us to attend a minimum of 3 support groups prior to surgery. Dr. Kispert did the presentation on the surgery itself. He was very personable, descriptive, understandable and willing to answer all questions. The more I spoke to him, the more I liked him. His staff was WONDERFUL, very supportive, full of information and always answered all my questions, no matter how simple or complex. The whole department talked about aftercare during the entire process. They sent us home with pamphlets to reiterate all they told us during support groups and the hospital stay so we would know exactly what we needed to do once we went back home after surgery. On a scale of 1 - 10 I would give Dr. Kispert and the entire General Surgery staff a 20 :0) Seriously. They're THAT good. The entire staff, and especially Dr. Kispert had wonderful bedside manner, and of course surgical competence. I couldn't have asked for better. There is absolutely nothing negative to say about this staff or my experience.

Dr Kispert is now at Dartmouth Hitchcock I meet with him on Feb 7th. He was very nice and down to earth. He is the most even keeled Dr I have ever meet. He spoke matter of factly (which is fine with me) and his staff really seems to like him.
The surgery went great and the hospital staff was the best. dr kispert came to see me twice a day and so did the residents. I never flashed so many people in my life. All the DR's were like let me see your tummy. I can't say enough about them The nurses and CNA's were great also right there all the time. And most of the rooms are private so it's nice for recovery.
