Raymond P. Compton M.D. Bariatrics Bariatric Center

My first impression of Dr. Raymond Compton was great. He is very easy to talk to, and has a wonderful sense of humor. He has taken time out of his busy schedule and spoke to me in great detail about the surgery he is going to perform on me. I have total confidence in him. I feel that surgical competence is of greater value than bedside manner ... but, Ray Comptom M.D. has both. I lucked out! He is no longer in Johnson City though ... he is in Paris Tennessee.

My surgeon could possibly change, He has moved to Parris<TN. I really have all my faith in him to do my rivision since he knows my internal make- up of how he put me together. He is a wonderful surgeon. I just hope things work out that he can do the surgery and that we can work out how I will go so far away from home.
Dr. Compton is a very careing doctor with alot of skill in what he does. He truly cares for his patients and for me I personally trust him to do any surgery. The only thing negative I could say would be it's now several hours to see him but it would be worth it.
Dr. Compton got my surgery approved and is a wonderful person and surgeon. If you are wanting someone who is good at what he does you need to call him.I have nothing negative to say about his work.

I met my surgeon Dr. Raymond Compton for the
first time today. He was very kind and
explained everything involved in his
decission to do or not do the surgery.
I had four pages of questions and he answered
everyone. He did a complete physcial and
ask me many many questions. He treated me
with respect and his nurse Judy was the
greatest! He is very selective about who he
will do surgery on, he requires several tests
and you must pass them all before he will do
the surgery. After going through the tests I
now realize he is doing what is best for me and if I was not medically or emotionally able to have this surgery he would not do it.
8-23-00 Had to see Dr. C today for an
unscheduled visit was having terrible pain
in my upper stomach. I have a hernia. He
told me today he is moving in November and
I cried all the way home. He said he is
staying until then to make sure all of his
patients see him for the first three months
after their surgery. He is going to Paris
Tennessee I think that is is middle/west
Tennessee. I would drive across country to
see him knowing I am going to having to have
surgery to repair this hernia. I hope I get
too! Everyone should have this kind of
special doctor who treats you so well and is
so kind and caring.

I was a little put off because he is so young. After a couple of visits I was very impressed that he was so knowledgable and seemed genuinely concerned for my long term health. All the office staff have been wonderful and very supportive both before and after the surgery. Doctor Compton is very blunt. He doesn't beat around the bush about anything. At first that bothered me but now I know that being blunt and to the point is the only way for us both to understand what is happening. Dr. Compton is very strict in my after care. His concern is both professional and personal. The aftercare program changes with the individual. Risks of surgery were described in detail and any and all questions were answered promptly. I give Dr. Compton and his staff A+. Both his surgical competence and bedside manner are GREAT. I feel like a person to him instead of just another chart number. I can't thank him enough for the changes he has helped me make in my life.
I am 17 months post-op and still Dr. Compton takes very good care of me. There is never a time when he is too busy to answer my questions and address my concerns. Even when they are silly, he takes time to explain. I'm here to tell you that I would travel to a foreign land to see him for the peace of mind for knowing that he cares for me and for my well being. I really can't think of anything negative to say. While the process has not been an easy road to travel, Dr. Compton has been right there beside me with encouragment and support. Okay, something negative, he could be closer to me. Johnson City is an hour and fifteen minute drive from my house. But I glady travel the distance.

Dr. Ray Compton is located in Johnson City, Tn. (423.926.6101) Which is only a 20 minute drive from where I live so I feel very lucky to have a surgeon so close to home. I first met Dr. Compton when my sister went into his office for a consultation. He was friendly and very informative. Then I went back for my own personal consultation and I must say I thought he was about the best thing in the world. I brought in my clip board with about a 1,000 questions and asked him everything from aftercare to why he personally went into WLS. He answered all of my questions and never made me feel rushed. Over all I think Dr. Compton is the Bees Knees...and I guess it doesn't hurt that he looks a little like Keanu Reeves:)

7-9-00 It is only 24 hour until I have surgery. My doctor has been wonderful. I have all the faith in the world that he will do an excellent job. If for some reason the LORD wants me he'll take me but it won't be anything about my doctor's capability. He is so careing about his patients and still keeps a since of humor. His office staff is unbelievable. His nurse Judy is a gem (She prob.needs a raise)lol she is wonderful. She stays on top of the insurance people and the testing that Dr. Compton makes you have. This doctor cares about people he's not doing this for money. He turns people away who he feels he cant help or that they don't really need this surgery. I can not say enough about my doctor or his staff. Good luck to anyone in finding this type of medical professionals. I have nothing whatsoever negative about them.
My doctor is not on this list but his name is Ray Compton. I've only been to him one time after being refered from my primary doctor. I think he is wonderful. If you are looking for a doctor who truly seems to care this is the one for you.
My doctor's nurse Judy. She is very nice and tries to be very helpful. (Even though I have bugged her to death).

Just a quick note--
