I met Dr. Schroder in April when my roommate had Laproscopic Gastric Bypass. I only saw him briefly, but saw that he had a good bedside manner and looked forward to meeting with him in August. August 4, 2004 was my initial consultation with Dr. Schroder. He explained the surgery thouroughly and I left feeling good about my decision. He has a super nice nurse and I feel like I am in good hands! The only thing to note about his staff is that until they receive the approval from the insurance company -- do not expect to hear from them, even if you call them. After the insurance gives approval and the office is notified, you will receive great service. You will most likely also know that your surgery has been approved by your insurance company well before the office does. (Could be a couple of weeks)

Great surgeon.

My main concerns with this office are the length of time I had to wait in the office for my appointment (well over 1 hour) and the difficulty in getting a return phone call. There were patients who came into the office 40 minutes after I did who were seen and left before I was seen. Believe me, I expressed my displeasure! Also, I had a difficult time getting a return phone call from them when I had a question about the process. It took over a week to finally get a call back. Despite these issues, Debbie is very pleasant and easy to work with...she makes you feel very comfortable. I felt Dr. Schroder rushed my consultation visit. He answered all of my questions but actually cut me off before I finished some of them. I'm sure they were running behind because it was well into lunch time when I finally saw him (around 12:30). I have heard good things about him from my PCP(he graduated Medical School with my PCP) and other patients so I feel comfortable with his skills as a surgeon.

My first impression of my dr was that he was a really nice and loving man. he seemed to really know how i felt and he was very educated. Over time my impression of him remained the same. He is one of the sweetest most caring drs that ive ever met.

I have been extremely happy with my surgeon and his staff, including his nurse, Debbie Younger. From dealing with the insurance, through the surgery, through early follow up, I cannot imagine that there could be many patients with a better experience with their surgeon than I had. He was up front about benefits and risks and emphasizes aftercare. I can only judge his comptence as a surgeon based on my experience. The surgery appears to be working very well. I have had no major pain or complications and have healed with no infections. His bedside manner is great. He takes his time to answer questions, encouraging me to take my time and ask all I want. His office is very busy, but responsive.

My first meeting with Dr. Schroder went very well. He came highly recommended by many fellow nurses. He takes the time to answer questions and is very reassuring. Debbie is very helpful, but sometimes it takes a few calls to get an answer.

After my first meeting with Dr Schroder I knew that I was in good hands and felt confident that all the research I had done would pay off. Dr Schroder is easy to talk to, confident and makes you feel at ease with your decisions and choices. I am 2 weeks post op and have not had any trouble getting in touch with his office or getting help if I need it!

Dr. Schroder is wonderful. He is polite and makes you feel like he is very concerned about you. He doe not hide any risks and was very upfront about his past experiences. None of them were bad, all good. He takes the time to answer all of your questions, even the silly ones, and you don't feel like an idiot. His nurse, Debbie, is great too. She always returns your calls not matter how busy she is. I am very comfortable with Dr. Schroder doing my surgery. I would recommend him to anyone. On a scale of 1-10 he is an 11.

He is a very caring man. He has a very professional attitude, yet seemed somewhat laid back also. He answered all of my questions and took time to make sure I was satisfied with the information that I had been given. Before seeing him, I watched a 30 minute video in a room by ourselves. There were not many people in the office when I arrived, however the waiting room was full when I was leaving.
While I feel completely comfortable with both Dr. Schroder and his nurse, Debbie. I believe the front desk personnel could be more personable. However, that is just my opinion.
Dr. Schroder is very knowledgable and will tell you upfront what to expect. I am in good hands!

Dr. Schroeder was very patient and kind. He answered all of my questions with a thorough answer. He and his staff are sensitive to my needs and have been immediately accessable when I have needed them. If I had to name a weakness my personal view is that his office has become so busy that sometimes the receptionist seems overwhelmed and the wait time to see him has increased . Aftercare is strongly emphasized and is one of the reasons I chose him as my surgeon. He wants to see you often and does not hesitate to order any testing needed after surgery. There is a support group set up at St. Mary's Hospital where Dr. Schroder practices, but I do not attend because it is an hour away from where I live. Dr. Schroder was very upfront about any possible risks of surgery. I asked alot of questions about the risks and he answered all of them and was able to explain not only medical risks but nutritional and psychological. I think he has a great understanding of his patients and his empathy and bedside manner are welcome traits from a busy doctor.
