The Hamptons Center for Weight Loss Surgery Bariatric Center

My first impressions was a very comforting experience. He was very informative and calmed all my nerves down with all the right information. His staff is very helpful and delightful to have to work with in all aspects. He is very knowledgealbe and very comfortable with his patient. He makes it very clear that after care is very important, he stress it very much. Overall he is a great doctor.

My first impression of Dr. Allam was favorable! (It still is!)He seemed very knowledgable and eager to help. He spent a lot of time drawing pictures, and explaining the proceedure. He has a wonderful smile, a good sense of humor, and a cheerful attitude, all of which really put me at ease. Once I was in the pre surgery area on "D-Day", he came in to see what the hold up was, only to find the anesthesiologist and his nurse-anesthetist on each side of me trying, in vain, to start my IV. He told them, quite abruptly, to get out of his way, and to let him do it. I had been poked 4-5 times already, at this point, and was relieved to know that a surgeon was finally going to do this. My experience as a nurse tells me that surgeons are great at finding those hidden little buggers! He did. First try. Dr. Allam's staff is also great! Once I was out of surgery, his demeanor did change a bit. I had some complications, like pneumonia. I felt pretty lousy. His bedside manner, at that point, was a little abrupt. (this has changed for the better!!) I was frightened, and rightfully so. I think I would have responded a little better to warmth and concern, but it's been my experience with doctors that, very often, the smarter they are, the more abrupt and impersonal they can seem. As far as office staff.... Jen is wonderful at the whole insurance thing, which leaves the patients free to worry about all of their pre-surgical tests and appointments. She even comes to our monthly support meetings. Jeannie battles with the insurance companies post-op, and does the billing. That is a thankless job, but she does it cheerfully. Aftercare is such a huge factor with Dr. Allam. He stresses the importance of keeping up with follow up visits, group meetings, nutrition, vitamins, etc. He hands out tons of reading materials, and directs us to more information on his website through the use of written info and links, etc. He encourages us to call anytime we need him, and doesn't even mind when we do! He is sure that we all understand the risks and benefits of Gastric Bypass, and we must read, sign, and then have notarized, a risk/benefits sheet. We must also give him a letter outlining our reasons for wanting the surgery, our current health problems, and our understanding of all risks, including death. Dr. Allam has helped me to change my life forever. I highly recommend him, without hesitation.

very much to the point, bed side manner wasn't very good but we the patients changed that.
He got better with bed side matter, he is very, fast in his thouthts and with a slight accent you really have to pay attention.
His office staff is great.
There wasn't really anything I didn't like about him. I just had excess skin removed by a plastic sergion and Dr. Allam came in and checked in on me before and came in the next day to see me, I don't know many doctors that take there time, to check on there patients even when not there's at that time.
He is very strict on after care. He has support group every month for2 1/2 hours and he is there everytime. Well once he did miss for he was over seas on a volunteer mission to help teach the doctors over seas better med.
Address the risks for the surgery, well we had to hand wright a letter telling him why we wanted the surgery and how we were going to handle the risks. Also we had to have a paper noterized and turn back in for it had all the risks listed on the 5 page letter.
I would rate him on a scale from 1-10 as 10 being best 10+.
Surgical competence is the best to have but bed side manner is also a great feature to have to help the patents all round care.
I have herd neg. reactions but not from his patients, from the hosiptal staff for when he see somthing isn't right he takes care of it right away. That makes the staff keep on there toes when he is aroung. but that is ok. For he is there for us and so are they.

His Staff is wonderful, helpful, knowledgable, efficient, and friendly. I feel Dr Allam is the most efficient thorough surgeon. I still fee this way before, during & after surgery. His after care is very thorough. Dr. Allam makes you read, initial, & have your signature notarized that you are aware of all risks possible. He also makes you examine yourself & write a letter to him explaining you understand the risks and why you want him to perform surgery.

The first time I met Dr. Allam was at a support group.I was pleased to see how concerned he was in answering the other patients questions. I was also impressed with the fact that there was no time limit. In other words he didn't say I only have so much time and then I am otta here.He took his time with each question. I was meeting with another Dr. and felt he wasn't for me. The first time in his office I felt comfortable with him. Dr. Allam was gracious and took all of my test results without sending me for new ones. He explained the aftercare with precise instructions on what is needed when. The first time in his office, his staff was exceptionally helpful in all of my questions. They were right on top of all of my paperwork. Explaining everything and scheduling me for pre-op at the hospital. They moved everything along quite quickly.

My first impression of Dr. Allam was that he was very professional, yet he didn't make you uncomfortable. He was very informative, honest and upfront. I didn't feel rushed. The office staff were very nice, they talked to the patients and made everyone feel very comfortable.Great emphasis is placed on aftercare, nutrition is very important. The one thing that most impressed me was the fact that he requires you to write a letter explaining types of obesity, the risk, all information so he will know you at least researched the surgery and you know what is involved and what to expect. The risk are well documented and a great focus in the package he gives you. The risk form has to be notarized. I would rate him so far as a 10 plus. I am confident that he will do everything humanly possible to ensure my surgery goes well.Sorry at this point there hasn't been a negative......trust me I would scream it out!!!!!!!!!1

I liked him very much. Very understanding.
I found the office staff to be wonderful. Most of all they have it together.
I was a patient of another Dr's and Dr Allam took me on as his patient without hesitation.
After care is very important to him and he along with the nutritionist stresses that to you.
As far as addressing the risk he gives you a paper that list all the risk. You must initial each box and write a letter in your own hand about the surgery and your understanding about it. Then you have to sign it and have it notarized. I feel that Dr Allam explained and answered all my questions. Since I came from another Dr's office and had all the test done and already had my approval from my insurance company he didn't give me the run around. Or say to me that I have to go through all the testing again. I just had to go to his nutritionist one time and for clearance to his Pulmonary Dr. which to me is fine. I like Dr Allam very much.

I felt very secure with Dr. Allam. He answered all my questions and explained everything...

Dr Allam was very through in his explanation of what was going to happen to my insides, he drew a diagram, and spoke to me and looked at me. I thought that was very important. I spoke to his nutrition gal and she was very nice. She is even going to bill my insurance and see if they pay any of her charges. I had to lay out 400.00 to Southside Hospital when I was going to go with Dr Adaniel. I know I lost the first 200.00 but I 'm going to ask for the balance to be refunded. Oh and this consult for the nutrition is 110.00. Whats up with the difference in cost? He wants to make sure you know what your getting int he has a fact sheet that you must read and check off every entry 1-25 and you must sign it in front of a notery. He also requests that I write a 2 paragraph letter about what Im doing so he knows I have a full understanding of what I am doing.

Very thorough, very calming, very supportive, demanding as far as attending support group. My impression hasn't changed, my care has been excellent. His office staff is efficient, very friendly, and always willing to help anyway they can. He tends to talk fast at times. Aftercare is very much emphasized. As I said he is demaning as far as support group, nutrition assistance is readily available. Besides disgussing the risks you are given written information and are encouraged to ask as many questions as needed. I would rate him on a scale of 1 to 10 with 10 being the best, he is a definite 10. In the case of gastric bypass surgery, I would have to say surgical competence, but there is alot to be said for bedside manner as well.
