Washington University in St. Louis Bariatric Center

Dr. Eagon is very patient. It took all the time I needed to feel comfortable with everything he was telling me. He has a wonderful manor about him. The office staff were exceptional, of his office women has had wls and she is such an inspiration. He explained everything in great detail and made sure I understood all that would take place with my body. He stressed aftercare was very crucial. He does have aftercare programs. Yes he went into great detail the risks or complications that could occur so I would be aware the importance of following his instructions before and after surgery. I feel he is a very careing and compassionate doctor . Not to many of those around. I feel he is very knowledged in this field but treats you as a human being with feelings and not just a number with a check book. I am very pleased with him as my Doctor.

Dr. Eagon is the best! He took the time to explain everything to me in terms I could understand.
I still feel he is the greatest.
His office staff, and especially his nurse, Donna are wonderful. Donna is so caring, she even made it down to the OR for my surgery, which made me feel so special.
I honestly can't think of a thing I don't like about Dr. Eagon.
The thing I like most about Dr. Eagon, is his softness. He is a very sincere and genuine individual.
I had an insurance switch 3 days after my surgery. Dr. Eagon was no longer covered under my new health care plan. I was going to have to have my follow up care done by local surgeons. Dr. Eagon did not accept this, and has insisted that he follow me all the way through, even if the insurance company says no! What a relief. I did not want someone else finishing what he had started.
Dr. Eagon's before and aftercare programs are structured and apparently top notch. I live 175 miles from St Louis, and we have surgeons in this area that perform this surgery, and they are who I intially went to. My insurance did deny coverage for surgery performed by the local surgeons, but told me if I went to St Louis, to Dr. Eagon, they would approve the surgery. I was told Dr Eagon would be approved because of his pre and post care programs, which at the time, the local surgeons did not offer.
Dr. Eagon took the time to discuss all aspects of the risk involved in this surgery. He was quite honest, almost to honest though. Sometimes, the truth is very scary. At one point, I was so afraid of the risk involved, I decided not to have the surgery. I later changed my mind.
On a scale of 1 - 10, 10 being the best, I would rate Dr. Eagon, his nurse Donna, and the staff at Barnes Jewish Hospital in St Louis, MO, with a 100++.
I feel, that with this type of surgery, especially since most people are choosing to have this done to their bodies, that surgical competence is most important. Bedside manner is a plus, and if you are lucky enough to have a surgeon who has both competence and bedside manner, consider yourself blessed. I was blessed!!!!

It took 10 months just to get an appointment to see my surgon. I am scheduled to have WLS on August 15th. The whole process has taken about 15 months. He is said to be the best in the area. I hope he is worth the wait. He is a very conservative surgeon and usually only cuts at 75centimeters. I hope I will have enough of a weight loss.

I meet Dr Eagon on January the 23, we were very impressed with him and his staff. We got to the office about an hour early but they were great and worked us in. His nurse Donna and the PT Tammy were wonderful, they made me feel very comfortable. Dr. Eagon is very up front with this surgery he goes over every detail, and takes his time to make sure you understand what he is explaining. He is very busy, but we did not notice other that we were waiting for him for a while, but Donna came in and explained he was taking extra time with another patient. I would rate Dr. Eagon and his staff a 11, we liked his way of explaining and letting use decided what is best for me, I am on the boarderline for OPEN or LAP so he said i could have either. I opted for Lap he explained both surgeries and the difference and the pro's and con's of both. We are very comfortable with him and i have confidence in him.

I am waiting for my consultation appointment which is scheduled for July 23rd. I have not yet met with Dr. Eagon ... but I must say that his reputation precedes him. I have heard and read wonderful things about him.
4-27-01 I met Dr Eagon on Tuesday, April 24th. I am very impressed with him. His knowledge is impressive. I feel very confident in him. He answered my questions and we have decided on a laproscopic procedure rather than open. I am pleased with this.

I haven't met Dr. Eagon yet as I have an appointment for a consultation on March 13. I have spoken with Beth at the Weight Management Clinic. She has been extremely helpful and very nice. update 4/18 -I met with Dr. Eagon and he was very pleasant! My opinion of him was that he was very straightforward and wanted to make sure that I understood what the surgery was all about. All of the ladies that he works with are great! :)

My surgeon is Dr. Eagon at Wasington University. I have had only two encounters with him so far. He seems very forth right and upfront about the seriouness and risks of this surgery but yet he was very possitive, encouraging and supportive.
Because I was not completly knowledgable about this surgery I was unprepared to ask all my questions the first time I met with him. There was alot of information provided and little time to process it, so I found myself needing more information after leaving his office. This information was provided by a helpful post op patient of Dr Eagon's named Diane Lutrell that has really been understanding and answered many of my questions. She encouraged me to go to a support group meeting which my Dr. spoke at and there I recieved even more information. The meeting was very good and answered my remaining questions and I am glad I went and I am very appreciative of all Diane's help. I am now awaiting pre op test results and insurance approval and then I will be put on his surgery schedule, (which I understand is very full) so it maybe Feb.2000 till I get to have surgery. I am excited to get on with it and start my new life!

My first impression of Dr. Eagon was that he was very shy but extremely competent. Barnes Hospital, where I had my surgery, is a teaching hospital affiliated with Washington University School of Medicine. Dr. Eagon's nurse, Donna, is excellent. I called her several times after I got home from the hospital with questions and she was great about getting back to me with answers. I have been back to see Dr. Eagon several times since the surgery and he takes time and answers any questions I have. I highly recommend him.

When first met Dr. Eagon I was totally impressed. He is a very kind and caring doctor and answers all the necessary questions directed towards him. I will be having sugery on the 29th of March and I have no doubt in my mind that Dr. Eagon is the best, wouldn't trust anybody else to do the job. I have been told he is the 2nd best bariatric surgeon in the U.S. with a record of "no leaks" and that gives me total piece of mind.
His staff is wonderful. His nurse Donna has been so accommodating to me. I can't thank her enough. I've e-mailed her with so many questions and she has always promptly replied and helped me understand what I didn't know. I know that I've chosen the best team for my new journey.

I had my appointment with Dr. Eagon on Mardi Gras. I find it humorous that Fat Tuesday was my appointment day. I went into the consultation with a three page list of questions. Between Dr. Eagon and his nurse, Donna, all my questions were answered. I would highly recommend anyone considering this surgery seek a consultation with Dr. Eagon and the wonderful people at the Weight Management Center at Washington University. Unfortunately, Dr. Eagon is not taking anymore consultations for the rest of this year (2001).
