My first impression with Dr Eagon was he was ver quiet and soft spoken. He is a very well liked surgeon who is very knowledgeable andafter you see him so many times hes much easier to talk with. His staff in his office are all professional and kind caring individuals. they are willing to help out when you need them. That he is a quiet Doctor. He tells you up front that this is a tool and a life style that you have to work with. He tells you up front that yu must take your vitamins and do follow up care. He addressed all this risks of this surgery even death. I would rate him 100% I believe surgical competence is much higher and that is why my nsurance company selected him. I do like doctors with a bedside manner.

Dr. Eagon seemed to be very friendly but not a big talker. He did cover WLS very thoroughly and allowed me time to ask questions. His office staff was friendly also and helped me with getting authorized for the surgery. I was very impressed by his credentials were incredible: Harvard Medical School, Washington University School of Medicine and the Mayo Clinic. A very close friend had this surgery and highly reccommended Dr. Eagon. Aftercare is important and Dr. Eagon stressed that I must be committed to the new diet, capacity of my new stomach pouch, and need for exercise for the rest of my life. I would rate him a 10. I think a great physician has both surgical competence and a excellent bedside manner.

Dr. Eagon is fantastic. I met with a dietician, a behaviorist, and a physical therapist befpre I met Dr. Eagon. He is going to do the surgery laporscopically! He spent over an hour talking with my wife and I, and his answers were carefully considered, not stock answers. I feel MUCH better.

I am leaving Dr. Mitchell and Newstart. I have called repeatedly to discuss my situation and have been put off and ignored. I sent e-mail asking to talk to SOMEONE, and that never happened. I am switching to Dr. Eagon from Barnes Hospital, the #5 ranked hospital in the country. I have complications, so Barnes is a better option.

I have been very impressed with my surgeon and the bariatric program. The staff that I have met with or talked to have been very helpful and very friendly. I would definitely recommend this program.

Dr. Eagon wasn't exactly what I had expected. He is very thin. Doing obesity surgery seemed like a strange calling for him. I've had my initial screening. He wants two more tests done and then he will arrange a surgery date. This has been a very excruciatingly long process. You definitely have plenty of time to think it all through. I do find it nearly impossible to get ahold of anyone in his office to ask questions. That is very frustrating. Having to go into St. Louis to Barnes-Jewish is also scary. The complex is absolutely immense and you can get easily lost. If you have trouble walking, you are in for an excruciating day! I have not heard anything negative about Dr. Eagon and I do understand he is the best in his field so I have no qualms about having him do my surgery. I did only spend about a half hour of so with him so it was pretty hard to form a realistic opinion of him in so short a time. I barely saw any office staff but the support staff for the Weight Loss Center was really great. I especially liked the physical therapist, Tammy, and she is the only one who ever returned my calls.
Although I find bedside manner important, I do think surgical competence matters most. It would be very nice to get both but that would probably be asking too much.

I felt very comfortable with Dr. Eagon. He was very straightforward and to the point. He seemed very knowledgable about the procedure and was very upfront about the risks involved. I had more contact before the surgery with his nurse Donna. She was great and very knowledgeable about the procedure. I felt very confident with Dr.Eagon preforming the surgery. I was given a lot of aftercare information prior to the surgery. I saw the dietician and physical therapist on the day I was realeased from the hospital, who went over all the aftercare information with me. I felt very knoweledgable of my expectations once i went home.

*** My father had gastric bypass preformed by Dr.Eagon 4 months prior to me and is doing wonderful. He also had a great experience with him.

Dr Eagon seemed very nice and eager to answer any questions I had. I felt comfortable with him. His staff all were very formative. The only thing I didnt like was the wating time in the office. His new patients will be happy to know that he sends his patients to a dietition, physicatrist, physical therapyst and does any necessary testing before surgery. We havent talked alot about aftercare so far. Dr Eagon let me know as with any major surgery there are major risks that can occur. I rate him very highly so far, we have only met once and descussed the operation.
