I first met Dr. Fernandez over the phone and he as great! I could tell he had personality the minute he said hello, he started the conversation making a joke and I felt comfortable immediately. The woman who runs the Bariatric Center, Becky, was also wonderful! She was informative and helpful. I will post more later!
My first impression of Dr Fernandez, was what a very caring doctor and a great personality and very knowledgeable. My impression remains the same. His office staff is very supportive and friendly. I liked everything about him so far. His website Tampabariatics.com. He strongly emphasizes aftercare, there are monthly supports meeting that the doctor, nutrionists and psychologist all attend. I would rate Dr Ferndandez as a 10. Both his surgical competence and bedside manner are wonderful.
i really liked dr fernandez. he takes the time with you and treats you like a himan and not some freak for being overweight. his staff is very nice as a matter of fact his secatary came by the morning of the surgery to see me in the hostipal. iv'e had a lot of surgeries and nothing like that has happend ever. i can'nt think of anything i didn't like least about them. they have been soooo good. if you plan on going to see him just know that he is not the type to run in and out of the room. like dr's do. he will acually sit and talk to you and anwser your questions. yes they have a very stuctured aftercare program. they have support meeting. he is there during the orentaion he does it. i have never seen a dr. that does that. all the ones i checked into it was his office and not the dr. i would rate the dr. as aVERY caring dr. that is why i drove 2 1/2 hrs to see him. my cousins had a great exprience with him as well. as far a better he had the bedside manner adn surgical competence. he's wonderful.
I really like Dr. Fernandez (www.tampabariatrics.com). He is very personable and knowledgeable and has a completely down-to-earth manner. I deal with doctors all day on my job, so I like his attitude and I have confidence in his ability.
i meet dr. fernandez on my first seminal. i thought he was very charming,informative, caring and show to have a good bedside manor with his sense of humor. not once did he pushed anyone to make a decision in that seminal. i walked away with a package with lots of impornat information. his asst. becky was very helpful while she was waiting for other dr's to give her information i called many times and she was very pleasant. dr. fernandez didnt pull any punches basilly told the group if we decide to have the surgery we need to follow directions take our vitaim and protein. (i took it like if i dont do what doc say and dont take my vitain i wont be around much longers he was straight forward)i like that in him . i think he is a great person and a hell of a surgeon even though he made me hurt for a while but now i take it, it was a good hurt in the long run.. i know i will lost weight and feel better. thanks to dr. fernandez and his staff.
DR. FERNANDEZ IS A WONDERFUL SURGEON AND PERSON. HIS COMPASSION FOR OUR PLIGHT AS OBESE IS SO TOUCHING. HE IS SO WONDERFUL AND IS THERE FOR YOU AT ANY TIME. I'D RECOMMEND HIM TO ANY FRIEND OR FAMILY MEMBER THAT IS
INTERESTED IN THIS SURGERY IN THE TAMPA AREA.
HIS STAFF IS PLEASENT AND TRIES TO WORK WITH YOU AS MUCH AS THEY CAN. THEY TOOK CARE OF THE PAPERWORK FOR THE INSURANCE AND FILLED ALL THE NECESSARY INFORMATION. THE ONLY PROBLEM WITH MY SURGERY WAS THE SCHEDULIING OF IT, WE MOVED THE DATE A COUPLE OF TIMES BECAUSE OF AN EMERGENCY OR HE WAS OUT OF TOWN.
I had been to another WLS semiar before attending Dr. Fernandez' and was not impressed with the other seminar, it was too much of a sales pitch. When I attended Dr. Fernandez seminar, it was full of information instead of sales. He was kind and answered all questions, there was no one waiting at the end of the seminar to "sign you right up". You get a packet to take home with you, so you can make this life changing decision at home, with your loved ones.
My first impression of Dr. Fernandez was that he was a very compassionate man. I still feel that way and completely trust his skills as a surgeon. His support group is legendary, I have met so many wonderful people. You will never feel alone on your journey with this group !!
Dr. Fernandez is a very warm and caring surgeon. Upon first meeting he struck me as a compassionate man, and over time I have found that first impression to be dead on.
He hosts meetings personally, shows up and participates in the support groups, treats his patients like family, and has many devoted former patients who sing his praises.
He pulls no punches about the dangers of surgery, but does everything he can to reassure patients that they are in good hands. He is a very well respected surgeon in the area and is the chief of surgery at his hospital. He does WLS lap--and has many years experience as a lap surgeon.
The pre-surgical program has a few glitches--his dietician pushes her products on you at every opportunity, but Dr. Fernandez has said in writing and in person that he does not condone that behavior.
His aftercare program is good,and is very much emphasized.
Honestly, I find him to be a latino version of Marcus Welby. Would I recommend him? Absolutely.
