Weight Loss Surgical Center of Baton Rouge Bariatric Center

Dr. Bellanger is awesome! He is a very nice and well mannered dr. He listens to you and answers your questions. When I was 2 days post op, I called his office with a question. He was in surgery. He called me back later that night and addressed my concerns! Not his nurse or staff,,he called me back,,,yes the surgeon! I felt re assured that my health was in good hands! Thats what I call top notch health care! His staff is great! I'm so delighted with my choice of physician.

My first impression of Dr. Hargroder was pretty simple. He came across as a no nonsense surgeon who knew his surgical procedures backward and forward and could answer any qestion I may pose.
His surgical assistant, Holly, is the person I met with in the office pre-op. She is a doll and was very easy to talk to. She was every bit as informed as Dr. Hargroder and was able to answer all of my questions.
My surgical coordinator, Cindy, was sweet and very flexible with me in my scheduling of appointments and surgery. She made sure she listened attentively to what was going on in my life to ensure I was in the proper state of mind to proceed with the procedure.
Arlette, the lady you get on the line first when you call the office and with whom you schedule appointments, is also a gem.
My initial assessment of Dr. Hargroder was correct, as I have found him to be just what I initially thought. He is a very nice man, but he his a bit of a busy body and doesn't tend to linger long unless you have questions that need answering. He is both caring and focused, something I have found to be an interesting combination. He is at the forefront of his field and his surgical competency is outstanding. My entire procedure was only 30 minutes. I have had no complications and do not anticipate I will.
His staff, as well as the hospital staff, were careful to ensure I was well briefed on the before and after surgical care from what to expect on a dietary front to when I should expect to see the skin glue fall off my incision sites.
The hospital staff at St. Elizabeth were truly the best I have ever experienced, and I have been in and out of hospitals a lot. One of my post surgical nurses, Daniel, was so attentive and patient I felt like I was his only patient. It was pretty impressive.
My only complaints (and these are purely my opinion and are not to reflect anyone else's experience or opinion) are as follows. I wish Dr. Hargroder would slow down just a little bit and not seem so hurried. While he proved his competency I would have felt a little less anxious had I felt he was not flittering from one thing to the next. The day of hospital pre-op was a good experience overall, but the Internal Medicine appointment I was given for pre-op clearance (as a self-pay) ended up being almost three hours long and ended with me seeing a Nurse Practicioner rather than an Internist. That made me somewhat uncomfortable, but she proved knowledgable enough to address my medical history and physical.
Overall I have to say I had a very comfortable experience with all persons involved in my procedure and care. I would highly recommend not only Dr. Hargroder, but also St. Elizabeth Hospital to anyone genuinely considering a bariatric procedure.

Dr. Bellanger is very nice. He is mild mannered and kind. He is a soft spoken but is very willing to answer any and all questions you have. His staff has been great. They are very friendly and will answer all your questions honestly and were very helpful. The hospital staff even bragged on Dr. Bellanger and assured me I was in good hands. I would highly recommend him to others.

my first impression was he was very quiet, great manners. he was very caring when i met him before and after the surgery.he asked how i was feeling and asked if i had any questions. His office staff were great but sometimes when i called ( i was out of town , 4 hrs away). it seemed as if they didnt want to help me out with appts. to work for me. the least thing i liked about dr. bellangers staff and associate staff was the whole process was done separate , you had the hopital, the clinic and the jefferson oaks evaluation to deal with. it seemed like they did not communicate to each other. They did emphasize the aftercare alot. he did give us all the risks about the surgery . he showed us a chart with all the risks and all the pros. i would rate him alone a 10 . my surgery turned out great so far i have no complaints. his surgical competence was really great.gotta go start living my new life . Thanks Dr Bellanger

Upon first meeting Dr. Hargroder, he made me feel comfortable. My initial consult was done with a group of people and he made this a very informative meeting. I enjoyed this type of meeting. Everyone had questions and he answered each of them. Then individually, he net with us to discuss any questions we may have had.
The morning of my surgery, my husband was very nervous. If Dr. Hargroder could have said something to him just to lighten the load, I think his nerves would have been a little more settled maybe even a simple "goodmorning". This doesn't change the fact that I think he is an awesome surgeon, maybe just more of a direct one. I would definetly recommend him to anyone considering WLS.

Dr. Bellanger is a great doctor with a very good bedside manner and after care seems to be as important to him and his staff as the surgery itself. No concern is too small or too silly for them. Even though they do this everyday they know that each person doesn't. It has only been a month since my surgery but so far I am more than happy with the team I choose to help me with this journey. I'll let you know more later.

From the first office visit, I remember that Dr.Bellanger looked professional, confident, and answered all my questions. He made me feel comfortable. His office staff and the staff at St. Elizabeths Hospital were very nice, friendly and were there for me in a timely manner. His bedside manner was awesome. I owe my life to this man, plain and simple. I highly recommend him for this procedure.
