Dr. Schulte was very clear and to the point. He was very caring and expereienced although i needed much more after care support and he didn't tell me much about the groups that were available and how important they are to success.

Very Good surgical competence
fair bedside manner

My surgeon, and the entire staff at Froedert were very informative... and made the whole thing easy for not only me, but my family. They explained exactly what they were going to do.. what was expected of me... and if I ever had a problem, I could call them, and they would tell me what to do...

The only thing I can tell anyone who is considering having the RNY is you must go into it WHOLE HEARTEDLY... and with a very POSITIVE ATTITUDE... If you don't... DON'T DO IT... You MUST have a positive attitude. The outcome WILL out weigh the pain. The pain goes away quickly... and the benefits, if you work at it... last a LIFETIME !

I would be willing to correspond with anyone who would like to talk.. be it Post-op.. or Pre-op...

dr schulte was very informative as well as very blunt & to the point....he has had a lot of experience as a surgeon and in the field of gastric by-pass..many years probably as many as i am old...i hold a great deal of respect for him. he was also willing to answer any questions i may have (he's probably heard them all before but didn't seem tired of answering) being that he's staffed at a teaching hospitol..medical college of wisconsin... the program is very progressive and the staff is very involved with following the patients thru their journey- from the anestesiologist to the nurses.

01-19-00
I have nothing but praise to say about this man and his team. They were all so professional, sense of humors, the residence were truely concerned and caring people. I had a revision which took an extremely long time to do (9 hrs), there are just no words I can say to express my feeling about Dr. Schulte without tearing up.
11-6-00 I had my first appointment with Dr. Schulte. We spoke at length about the problems I may incur being a revison and that the operation could be 6 to 8 hours. Dr. Schulte agree to do the surgery which I was excited about. One more hurdle down. He does require you to see, nutrionist, psych, and some general tests done their at Froedtert. They schedule all the appointments on the same day which is also great. His secretary Rochelle is quite helpful. I found to take all the documentation that your insurance requires to the appointment made it much easier and faster to get submitted. Dr. Schulte usually does just open RNY's. There is another surgeon in the office, Dr. Nakeeb who does all the Laps. The facility is a great place, it's huge so arrive early.
They do have an after program, which I will find out more about at the nutrionist's appointment.

He was very polite and he listned to what I had to say. He answered all my questions directly with no beating around the bush. He seemed very open and honest and he actually seemed genuinely concerned with my medical conditions. I have seen him twice now and I like that fact that he is very forward and honest with his concerns, but at the same time he listend to what I have to say. His entire staff is absolutely wonderful.

UPDATE: I am sad to say that Dr. Schulte is retiring from his profession. He is a man who will be truly missed, as he has touched so many lives. I am happy to add though that he has two wonderful associates, Dr.'s Wallace and Nakeeb, who will continue on his his caring profession. Good luck Dr. Schulte, you will be missed.

This was very easy since my husband went thru this 10/99. I had talked with Dr. Schulte concerning his surgery and had a lot of my questions asnwered at that time. He told me when I went for my consult I would have my own cheering section and lots of support from my husband.

He is very personable as well as knowledgable.

I am not too thrilled about the nursing care my husband recieved so that is a concern.

I had excellent care because I was not on an overflow floor. The staff was freat. Deb, his PNP is just great. She has started a support group which is helpful.

I just got an appointment for November for a first consultation. He appears on my Insurance Company's list of network doctors.

Dr. Schulte was very straight forward in answering my questions. He did emphasize the risks of surgery with my medical condition. I don't know if he has had many people with Tricare standard, but I felt I had to followup on what was the next step. His office staff is great.

At first I was a little nervous about his age, but the more I thought about it the more I realized that meant experience, especially after meeting him. He is definitly thorough. He informed me of all of the potential risks involved and did not pressure me in any way about the surgery. I would say overall my experience with Dr. Schulte has been a positive one, so far, haven't had the surgery yet. hehe

Dr. Schulte was wonderful. He was very professional, concerned and respectful. I believe he is the sole responsability of my quick recovery from surgery.
his bedside manner can be a little harsh, he is just very honest and point blank. Heee makes sure you realize exactly what you are getting in to.
I would reccommend him to anyone. I think he's one of the best
