William S. Peters, D.O. FACS Bariatric Center

I met with Dr. Peters on 10-09-03 for the first time. The staff members I met in his office were considerate, respectful and so darn nice. Doctor is very upfront and honest, he gives you the good, the bad and the ugly. He seems to really care about the people that come into his office, knowing everyones name and remembering the smallest of details.I look forward to having Dr. Peters as my surgeon.

well my first impression of doc was that he is very much to the point, did not pull any punches,he emphasize all the aftercare, addressed the risk, the types of surgery would i think it was worth if i only lost 50 pounds most definatly that is the start i need and yes he has a structured before and after care he wants you do more research before you come back to him,and for his office staff robbi is great .I have a really good feeling about doc i think he is gonna give me the help i need and keep a close eye on me afterwards

My first and continued impression of Dr. Peters is that he's very caring about his patients. He wants to make absolutely sure that you are aware of the path you have chosen and the challenges which could evolve.
Dr. Peters is very thorough in the pre-tests you must have before he will do the surgery and if you have a question or a problem someone will always get back to you. He is SINCERELY trying to help you become a healthy person. He and Robbie(his wife) are a wonderful pair to have on your side.
My insurance company has given their approval and I am waiting for a surgery date. We're getting there. HOORAY!

I liked him, he is very down to earth and put me and my husband at ease right away.
His office is very small and it is just him and his nurse Robbie.
He helped my husband understand everything about the surgery and he is now supportive of it.
Don't let the office discourage you, it is in an old hospital and that is not where he does the surgeries.
He was a big proponent of aftercare and pleased that my primary doctor is also.
He lays everything out on the table for you about all the risks and makes sure you understand them by testing you on your next visit.
I would rate him as a very confident doctor, with a good mannerism.
I would say that surgical competence is a priority but a good bedside manner doesn't hurt. You need to feel comfortable with your doctor.

I first met Dr. Peters through my sister. I went along with her to her appointment before surgery. I was very impressed with him. He took a lot of time to go over everything in detail. He explained all the risks involved with the surgery. I set up my own appointment that very day. For my first appointment he gave me reading materials and went over in depth the differences between the three surgeries he does. My "homework" was to read everything and decide which would best suit my needs. My second appointment he gave me a little quiz to see exactly how much information I had taken in. He said so that he knew what he would have to explain again. He is very personable and has a friendly, caring manner. I believe he truly enjoys watching his patients successes.

Dr Peters is a great person, he is honest and forthright, telling you the bad as well as the good! My husband asked him how many surgeries he had done, the answer was, how many did I have to do to qualify to operate on your wife. We never did get the answer to that question, we may ask again, all kidding aside. I have a surgery date with no insurance confirmation which is making me nervous. His office looks very quaint and non professional, but he and his wife make up for that with their warmth and caring ways.

I was very impressed with the warmth and friendliness of Dr. Peters and Robbie (wife/asst.). You can feel that he truly wants to be sure you understand all aspects of the different types of surgery. He asks many questions, tells you to take notes and wants you to ask all the questions you need to ask. He requires a second visit so you are both sure of your decision to have surgery. You can have all pre-op testing done in your own area. A big help if you are a distance away. He has a support group for both pre and post-ops also. There are no negatives at this point. 10/25/01 Had my second appt. today and I am even more positive that Dr. Peters is one of a kind. HE spent over 30 minutes trying to get pre-approval from the insurance company. Most doctors would have put the job off on the office staff. He answers all his own email and tells you to call any time you have a question or concern that needs an immediate answer. My husband is not real quick to like or trust people, but was completely at-ease with everything about Dr. Peters. I would recommend him to anyone.
12/27/01 After reading all Dr. Peters patient comments, I once told him it sounded as if he could walk on water. He was taken aback for just an instance, then answered, \"No, I go in up to my ankles at least.\" I will always remember that and the expression on his face. I truly believe he is an exceptional surgeon and man. He and Robbie make the perfect team. I am 9 days post-op and feeling wonderful! I keep trying to come up with a negative and the only one I can find is the nurses were not educated in the use of the pain buster. Even when I asked the right questions, I got the wrong answers. Finally a nurse, Judy, on 11 to 7am asked if I knew about the bulb. No other nurse in the room knew about it and when I had asked others on the other shifts, I was told it didn\'t work that way. I have to share blame, I never remembered to ask Dr. Peters when he was in the room. That\'s my negative. No one should hesitate seeing Dr. Peters or going to CMC because of it.
It is now 14 months since my surgery. My aftercare has been excellent with bloodwork done every three months to find any problems while still minor. Dr. Peters stays personally involved with us through out recovery and the passing months. The phone will ring and it will be Dr. Peters just checking in to see how we are. He is at each and every support group meeting. He is the most unique and genuine medical professional, I have ever met! I'm sure there are negative aspects to him but I truly have not found them.

My 1st impression...No holds bard.. didn't sugar coat anything. Was very straight foward, didn't make me feel uncomfortable about my questions I had. Was very personable & easy to talk with.
Stuck with my 1st impression. I am fortunate Dr Peters accepted me as a patient.
Robbie is great! Always has a smile... easy to talk to, & makes funny faces @ Dr P when he's not looking...lol
hmm.. that I didn't check out surgery b4 I actually did.. but that's not his fault.
Dr Peters makes no guarantees & tells you upfront, this isnt a joy ride. This surgery is not a walk in the park. He won't sugar coat anything.. yet he'll also make sure you know all the pros & cons.. without making you fell dumb for asking questions.. trust me.. I emailed & called him all the time. *S*
110%! Dr Peters tells you from day 1 he will follow you forever after surgery if you decide to keep in touch with him so he can. Or he tells you upfront, if you decide after the follow up visits, if you just want to see your pcp.. that's your choice.
Absolutely. Dr Peters makes you take a written test to be sure you know all the possible risks & side effects that can happen during & after surgery. You have to get a 100% or he will not accept you as a patient.
On a scale of 1-10, 15+! I am again grateful for Dr Peters accepting me as a patient.
I personally think, surgical competence is definately a major factor, then bedside manner rates right up there.. but to find a Dr who has both.. you're truely fortunate! Which is what I am to have been able to have Dr Peters as my surgeon!
