Adrian Heap Bariatric Surgeon M.D.,F.A.C.S.

Dr Heap was a wonderful surgeon with a world class track record. I had a choice of any surgeon in the country and even spain and I chose Dr Heap over anyone else for several reasons. One reason is that he has death/complication rate that is far and above any others that I have checked out and he was recommended highly by other surgeons in his field. I would suggest Dr Heap without reservation.

He was particularly patient with my post operative worries. He even took my late night phone calls and assured me things would be alright. I think he has a great blend of both surgical competence and bed side manner that is needed to go along with this sort of surgery.

Dr. Heap is a really sweet doctor. He will listen and answer any questions you have.Just make sure you bring a list of them when you go in.I was'nt prepared and had to go back again with my list of questions.There were about 12 of them.He answered every one.I have my surgery scheduled for the 26th of January. Hope all goes well!

At first Dr. Heap seems to be kind of a "know it all". But the more "I" got to know him and know is work I realized that he really does "know it all". He was very helpful in explaining the surgery, (open RNY with duodonal switch) and why he believes it is the best surgery to do. His office staff was very helpful and courteous on the phone when I call with questions. He has an accent which may be hard for some to understand, I had no problems with it. I think he is Canadian. His aftercare involves 3month visits within the first year. He provides a handbook that answers a lot of questions and you have to take a lot of supplements, which he provides. He does go over the risks with you. If very honest with any concerns or questions you may have of his record. I would give him a 9 out of 10 overall. His surgical competence is best. But I must say, he went out of his way to have me stay in a hotel to save $$$$ and came to the hotel to check on me. I don't know many Doctors that will do that. The more I know him, the more I really like him. Especially every week when I weigh myself and see the pounds I've lost!

The staff at Dr Heap's office was very friendly...they went out of their way to make sure that i felt comfortable, and were very down to earth...showed me lots of before and after pics...


Dr Heap came off standoffish at first, but i think thats just his british nature...warmed up quickly...a bit hard to understand, but was very nice...i feel very safe with him.

Very nice. Seemed eager to do what ever I needed. Told me of my choices.

Dr Heap is wonderful and will do everything he can to help you.
My impression of him hasnt change. His office staff is caring and understanding and always willing to help. His accent is a little hard to understand at first but once you get to know him its gets easier. Just be prepared with your questions, write them down and take them in so you dont forget anything and he will answer them all. He is very specific about aftercare and will tell you its the most important thing to follow his instructions to the letter. He was honest about all surgery risks. I would give him a 10 on a scale from 1-10. Surgical competence is best, bedside manner is okay...but I'd rather have competence versus humor.

I have not met with him yet. Appt scheduled for 2/7/00. Contacted office and received valuable information on getting insurance company to approve procedure.

Dr. Heap did my gastric bypass 2 1/2 years ago and I have gone to him for follow up care since. He is a caring and considerate Dr. He listens and offers help with your problems. He is the first doctor I went to that offered me help and not just lectured me on being overweight. He is a wonderful man.
