Albert T Spaw Bariatric Surgeon M.D.

I met with Dr.Spaw on 3-24-05. There is absolutely nothing negative I could say about him or his staff. I felt that he truly listened to me and my needs. I was so comfortable asking all questions and my concerns acknowledged with compassion and professionalism!

I worked with Dr. Spaw for several years in the OR. He's an excellent surgeon and a fun, very nice guy. When I heard he was doing the lap-band, I knew that was my cue to sign up!!!

Just my general impressions after only 2 office visits and based solely on my personal experience:

Dr. Spaw and staff very interested in constructive criticism and input on how they can improve their WLS program. Very strong facilitators to help testing, insurance, etc.. come together for expedient surgery.

Very clear about realistic expectations of the surgery and recovery time, potential for risks and educating patients about the above.

Office staff is good.... very protective of their docs, though.

Info handouts/ binder a little confusing, but being edited. A little loose on structure as far as aftercare, but then I'm only 2 weeks out.....

Seems to be a good bit of wait time after arriving for an office visit.One to 1.5 hours

Again, excellent surgeon... I've watched him wield a laparoscope for years!

I think Dr. Spaw is a very caring surgeon. He explained everything about very well about the surgery. He answered all of my questions. I would recommend him to anyone.

My first impression was a great one, he was very informative and caring. His staff are great they know everything about the surgury and care.I would recommend him and his office to anyone.My impression of Dr. Spaw changed but for the better, he took such good care of me. He was wonderful he called and came to see me everyday in the hospital. I would recommend him to anyone. I would rate him as the best surgeon.I could not find anything wrong with him he treated me wonderful and I have done great with my recovery because of all his informatio and the care of the office staff.

My first meeting w/Dr.Spaw
was cool I was very exited and nervous
but he was great and made me feel like he really wanted me there,which is a change from all the other Dr.s I've had.

He was very knowlegable and kind. I felt he was a first class surgeon and that he cares about his patients. The staff was great! They made you feel like you had known them forever. They were also very knowlegable and friendly.
After care is very important to them and to me it conveyed the message that it should be as important to me. Thye do have a structured after care program. They let you know at the seminar that they are there for you throughout your preop, operation, and the rest of your life!
They were very thorough when discussing the risks of surgery and had it in a hand out so that you could read over it.
I would rate them a 10 for every thing this is my third seminar and doctor and the seminar was the most informative and the office staff was the friendliest and most helpful and Dr Spaw made me feel comfortable about my decision for surgery and I feel confident in his abilities as a surgeon.

My first impression was that he was a wonderful, well trained and compassionate physician. My opinion of him post op has not changed...he is wonderful and very caring about all of his patients. The office staff there is the best. The all seem to share the same compassionate and caring attitude of the physicians. The aftercare program is the best. I haven't seen any others that have the same intense follow up. I would have to say that his surgical competence and his bedside manner are out of this world!

My first impression was that of warmth and that I had known him all my life. He is a "down to earth" sort, and very very passionate about his patients. He talked to me as an equal, in terms I could understand, and didn't need a rocket scientist to interpret for me. The selling point for me was the pre-cautions they take to prevent complications, and the stress they put on aftercare. At one point I asked a question about my thyroid meds in relation to WLS, and he told me he didn't know the answer but would find out for me. When he did, HE CALLED ME! The staff in his office is awesome. They go out of their way to make you feel comfortable and informed. They kept in close contact with me from beginning to end, emailing me, calling me, whatever it took to make sure I knew what was happening with my case.

Dr. Spaw was very nice, informative,and showed concern for me and my obesity.
