Albert T Spaw Bariatric Surgeon M.D.

I had done quite a bit of research before deciding on my surgeon. Dr. Spaw has an excellent background in RNY and I had heard wonderful things about him. The first time I visited was for an insurance evaluation and to get a valid height and weight and of course BMI. Everyone in the office is really caring and helpful. I was told what my insurance required and went to work on getting all the work done. It took a little over a month for all the appointments and paperwork to go through. It was amazing how fast I was approved. rnI had surgery on April 27th and got to come home later that week. I have not had any real problems and anytime I need anything I call the office and them are there to answer my questions!

Dr. Spaw is a very talented and well known surgeon in Nashville. I have been very pleased and impressed with the way he's handled my case. That's not entirely true. I've been elated, overjoyed and terribly relieved.rnrnI argued with him about doing the DS in two steps, but in retrospect, I can see that he was right. My recoveries from both surgeries were spectacularly easy. I think if I'd undergone the combination surgery that undoubtedly would not have been the case.rnrnHe is very personable and his office staff are very helpful, which is important! They not only seem to be of good will, but they are intelligent and well informed enough to be effective.rnrnMy DS scar is a thing of beauty. A plastic surgeon couldn't have done a better job! Postop visits are thorough, and I don't feel that I am rushed through the visits, either by the staff or by Dr. Spaw.

I met Dr.Al Spaw on 4-15-2009 and I liked him straight away. Dr.Spaw and his staff have been very kind and helpful in my new beginnings. The surgery pics that Dr.Spaw has to show are awesome, they are from actual procedures and are definitely way more informative than the illustrated pics everywhere. He was down to earth, soft spoken and definitely wants you to know what you're getting yourself into. The Baptist Metabolic Surgery Center staff happily answered any questions I had and made me feel quite comfortable. I'm currently waiting on my surgery date to arrive and will be able to add more when I've gained more experience.

Dr. Spaw is a great caring surgeon. I initially went in for the DS but because of risk factors, he felt it was safer to do the VSG first and then go back for the DS.rnI respect Dr. Spaw for this. He is a very cautious surgeon and one who cares about his patients. I felt i am not just another insurance claim, but a human being who he wants to see succeed at life and in weight loss. i trust him whole heartedly.rnHis whole staff is nice and caring. They are there when you need questions answered. They are there for the after care of your surgery. I definitely recommend Dr. Spaw and his staff.

I knew he was my savior when he walked in... this is the man that is giving me a chance at a new life!! He was so soft and gentle, even funny!! lol I love the staff, especially Michelle! I've had staph infection and was worried about it again but he assured me and let me know that was the least of his concerns!! I feel very confident that I have the right surgeon for me!!!

Dr. Spaw is the greatest!! Not only is he down to earth, but he really wants his patients to succeed. He is there anytime you need him and so is his staff. I owe them everything for giving me my life back!!

Dr Spaw is absolutely wonderful. He is very sincere, thoughtful and caring. The doctor and his staff are awesome!!! They have been very helpful on what i needed for approval and have a manul that answers most of your questions and what times i've called or e-mail they responded right away. You go in and never feel rushed and they always remember your name when you go in like you are the only patient they have. They have mothly meetings for lapband patients. He is just a great doctor all around. i had my surgery on monday Sept.8,2008 and on Tue Sept 9,@008 HE called and checked on me and see if i had any futher qustions. AWESOME

Dr. Spaw was a WONDERFUL surgeon. Very knowledgeable and has a great bed side manner. He takes the time to listen and respond to each & every question you have. I HIGHLY recommend him to anyone thinking of having WLS.

I love my surgeon! He had the best bedside manner of any doctor I have worked with. He was patient kind, and he did a heck of a job on my surgery. My small scars look great. Not only that but he also helped to put my parent's minds at ease. After talking to my doctor and him answering their questions, they were comfortable with my decision.
