I originally was scheduled to have my procedure done by Dr. Price. However because of changes in insurance I was sent over to Dr. Huffman, and this was our first meeting. He carefully went over the entire procedure, risks and benefits. Though I was terrified, I felt very comfortable with him and prayed for the best. He has been a tremendous physician and along with that witty sarcasm that compliments his incredible personality I feel very blessed that he was my surgeon. Since this procedure carries with it lifetime follow-ups, I guess we are in it for the long haul, and I couldn't think of another physician I would rather have taking care of me. Thank you so much Dr. H to you and your fabulous staff! OUCH... that didn't hurt at all! : )

I first met with Dr. Huffman and his nurse Renee in December 2003. My first impression of them was wonderful. They were so kind and told me exactly what to expect after surgery and what risk there could be. So far I rate Dr. Huffman and Renee a 10!! I have to comment on Laura, she handles the insurance paper work for Dr. Huffman. She is really sweet considering I seem to call her all the time trying to find out information. Your awesome Laura!!!!!

When I met Dr. Huffman,I was impressed. He really cares about his patients. He really wants to see his patients keep the weight off long term. He seems very strict. I need that. He likes his patients to come back often after surgery for his aftercare. He believes that his patients have done better when they come back versus the ones that dont. He is VERY blut about complications. He does not hold anything back. It almost like hes trying to scare you. He was very nice to my partner and answered all her questions and made sure she understood everything.
His staff is great. Everyone is very nice. Renee is so sweet. She takes times to explain everyhing to you and answer questions. I give Dr. Huffman a 10 and Renee a 10. They are wonderful and I am excited about having wls by them.

THIS IS ABOUT THE SURGEON I HAD, Dr Allan Huffman. His office has been telling me for 2 months after I met all his requirements(which i did) that my surgery would be in June, no problem. Last week they gave me a surgery date of June 17th and made me an appointment with Dr Huffman to finalize the details such as bloodwork and meeting with the anesthesiologist. Imagine my total shock when he told me that he wasn't going to do the surgery because he wasn't 100% sure medicare would pay!!! They have known all along that I was on Medicare and there is no preapproval for medicare!!!! I have wasted 2 months on a Doctor who had done surgery on me before and that I trusted. He spent all of 5 minutes with me today telling me no way.

When I met Dr. Huffman the first thing I really noticed about him was his eyes. They were full of understanding and compassion. I knew he was a doctor that wouldnt judge and do all he could to help you.

The office staff is was absolutely wonderful. The ladies truely went out of their way to try to help. I cant say enough about his Assistant Renee'.

I would recommend Dr. Huffman and his staff to anyone considering WLS.

dr. huffman was very matter-of-fact at our first meeting. i appreciated his frankness, and the respectful way he spoke to me and my husband, answering our questions as if it were the first time he'd ever been asked, instead of as if he was really sick of hearing them (which i'm sure he is).
his office staff (except for renee) is a bit less then helpful. usually leaving me feeling like i was bothering them, when i was trying to gather information, or check on the status of my surgery scheduling.
you should try to talk to renee at any given opportunity, if you're dealing with dr. huffman's office.
he TOTALLY emphasizes aftercare. requires it, in fact.
my impression, at this stage is that his aftercare program is very structured, and VERY important in the success of the surgery.
dr. huffman spent the biggest part of my inicial consultation talking about the risks of surgery. almost as if he was trying to talk me out of it. i appreciated that.
so far, i'd rate him, on a scale of 1-10, a 9. i'd give him a 10, but i've only seen him once, and i'd prefer to reserve that last point till after surgery, and farther into the healing process. however, i'd rate his assistant, renee a 10+.

i havent had surgery yet. i'll update all this after.

Dr. Huffman is very kind, considerate, and concerned about his patients. He is very open and honest about the risks of morbid obesity and about the complications that are possible with gastric bypass. His surgical nurse, Renee, is sweet and very informative. Dr. Huffman requires that you attend one support group meeting and that you also see a nutritionist. He stresses the necessity of post-op care to insure that I remain healthy. Dr. Huffman and his staff doesn't just tell you what to do, they are personally involved in your well being. I find Dr. Huffman to be excellent.
