Amir Mehran Bariatric Surgeon M.D.
Dr. Mehran made me so comfortable in my choice and decision. He answered questions, was always popping in/out my hospital room. He is a physician who truly CARES about his patients -- and the nursing staff abides by his orders to the letter!
I feel like my life began after my surgery with Dr. Mehran. I also worked with Dr. Scott Um. He's an amazing doctor, too. Combined with Dr. Mehran, I feel I had the BEST care and support both before and after surgery.
my first impression was a good one. seemed to know his stuff and wanted me to be clear of what I was getting myself into. i really liked his bedside manner. i found him to be upbeat and funny. This means a great deal to me. Anyone can study and follow the procedure.......but can they make you smile? build trust? after all, he is in the drivers seat during the whole thing. I really need to trust the guy. The only bummer was that since surgery, I have been dealing with another surgeon during follow up calls. I guess he is not on call and let others handle those situations. I did see him face to face during my 2 week follow up appt which was good.
He is great, UCLA was awesome, very caring and proactive. I had Kaiser, so there was some things I had to take care of myself, but I stayed on top of things and all was fine. I did have a complication, and they brought over a specialist from the VA hospital just to observe as they wanted to have all knowledge available to them. I also liked that I was at a teaching hospital and was giving back to someone.
I had my procedure a week ago at UCLA. While I have nothing but good things to say about Dr. Mehran, I must say that I found his ancillary staff very rude and disorganized. Everytime I called the office and spoke to a woman named Maggie, she was very rude, short and acted like my call was an inconvenience. 4 days after surgery, I had to call the office, and once again was faced with her attitude, but I was in pain and couldn't take it anymore, so I yelled back at her. Only then did she seem to have compassion and seemed eager to help me. Also, she once made an appointment for me, but didn't tell the office. I had to wait 3 hours to be seen (no exxaggeration)! Another time, I had to wait 45 minutues in an examination room for Maria to fill out surgical consents.Other than that, the actual surgical staff were amazing, and I guess that's what matters most in the long run.
My first impression was Dr. Mehran was energetic and funny.rn My impression changed when I became aware of how seriously he take the safety of the patients pre- and post-op. Although he did not have a lot of time to spend during apppointments, he was very responsive by email when I had questions and concerns.rn The clinic staff was very thorough even though they are extremely busy. Maria Harrison keeps the place running like a well oiled machine.rn What I liked the least I liked about Dr. Mehran is he was always in a hurry. Also, for my own good, he was strict with me but it worked out in the end.rn Dr. Mehran is part of an outstanding team of professionals.rn Overall I would rate this program an \"A\".rn
My first impression was that I really liked Dr. Amir. He trys to be funny sometimes. But, he is a stickler for losing weight before having surgery. He feels this shows that you are serious and determined in having this surgery and committed to your success. His research shows greater overall weightloss success when losing weight first.
