Dr. Mehran was wonderful. Being in the medical field myself, it was nice to see a physician who was not stiff and clinical but could instill confidence and competence with a sense of humor. His abilities as a surgeon were great.

My first impression was-he's busy!-I was one of the last patients to be seen that day-he seemed rushed-nice, but rushed. He had a intern with him-so the intern did most of the work, like asking me all the questions. My impression didn't change much- the same thing happened in my pre-op appt. I felt like it was a "business",instead of a caring doctor. The office staff was nice. On the morning of surgery he came to see me and said "Are you sure you still want to have the surgery?" I said "yes" he said "see you in the OR." and that was the last time I saw him- He never came to visit me in the hospital-just interns and residents-who don't know a whole lot. The UCLA program is very structured. I learned alot from the classes they offered pre-op. The risk was addressed by given me a paper and saying- "read this, any questions?" On a scale of 1 to 10 (10 being the highest)- He gets a 10-I here!!! with absolutely no complications.
so for me Surgicsl Competence is better than bedside manner. He had a job to do and he did it!

The minute I met him, I felt he was very funny. After all was said and done, he continued to answer my questions being serious. He was very funny with everything we did, and made things easier at other times. His office staff was wonderful, helpful and on top of everything. In order to make things go smooth, you have to have all your records and be ready to. Aftercare is everything. Considering it is the long term for success. They instructed me for month 1 and 2, then gave me guidelines and assistance for the future. It was all done with help and suggestions for the best results in the outcome. I was well informed of all risks. My only concern, is that at times it was hard to reach someone to talk to. You have to leave a message and wait for a call back. I really appreciate all that was done for me by Dr. Mehran, his staff, and also his director of the program Debbie and assistance Mabel. Everything made this to be an incredible experience!

I thought he was very young or I'm just getting older. At first it seemed like he was trying to talk me out of surgery. Telling me all the bad stuff that can happen. I understand now that he wanted me to know how serious this surgery is. He wanted me to be well educated in the process and how my life would change after surgery. The office staff is wonderful. The ladies are very nice, the nurses are great, and they do a great job at getting you in when it's your appointment time.

Debbie runs/teaches the classes you will need to take before surgery. She does a wonderful job and has alot of information and samples for you. She can answer all questions you have. Be sure to take notes and listen carefully.

Dr. Mehran is a happy upbeat doctor and it shows that he enjoys his work. I am very happy to have him as my surgeon. I look forward to my surgery date coming up, April 20.

Very personable. Easy to talk to. Not as impressed with the office. Felt a little like a factory. Aftercare has been minimal at best. Yet surgery went so well haven't needed it.

Dr. Mehran was very friendly, and made me feel very comfortable.

My impressions have not changed.

The staff at UCLA was great. They were supportive and very encouraging.

He has great bed side manners, he will give you every opportunity to change your mind.
Aftercare involves a two week follow, a month follow-up. 6 months, one year, two year. The only downfall of this program is there are no support groups.
My Doctor and his staff emphasized the risk of surgery and preparation for surgery to lessen the risk. I rate my Doctor and his team an A. I expect both, surgical competence and bedside manner is also very important to me. I feel that I had a great experience during my WLS.

Friendly, open, receptive. Made me feel welcome.
Impression only became better over time.
Office staff is very competent and informative.
There's nothing I didn't like.
Probably that he's so busy because he's one of the best, if not the best.
We had four weeks of classes to teach before and after care. My friend who was done outside of UCLA said she learned much more in my classes, since she had none. I feel very well prepared.
He's very concerned about risks and making sure we understand. Because we lived more than 60 miles from the hospital, he kept us an extra day to make sure we were OK. He didn't want us so far away in case of emergency.
As a patient, I received excellent care from Dr. Mehran. At the same time, UCLA is a teaching hospital and Dr. Mehran's interaction with his students during my visits was excellent. He strives to make sure they're getting this.
Both great! Surgical competence is off the chart, he's that good. And I'm impressed that he came to the hospital even late after having been in seminars all day to see us. (Even tho his assistants had been with us during the day.) He's very hands on.

He is a wonderful doctor. He has a wonderful bedside manner. Easy to talk to and understanding to me and my family. The office staff is wonderful and they really take there time to explain everything. Every one that I met in the waiting room was just as pleased as I was. I enjoyed the classes prior to surgery and it was a good way for a lot of people to make the right choice. I learn a lot about how and what to eat, not just because of the surgery, but in general. I would highly recommend him to anyone who may be interested. His staff and also all the people he works with. Because I live in Lancaster,California and the office is in Westwood. I guess the only draw back is the commute to the office. I hate the freeway.

I've only met him once

THAT HE WAS YOUNG AND VERY INTELLIGENT BUT AT THE SAME TIME VERY TRUTHFUL AND UPFRONT ABOUT THE SURGERY. MY IMPRESSION OF THE DOCTOR DID NOT CHANGE. THE OFFICE STAFF IS VERY FRIENDLY AND HELPFUL. I LIKED EVERYTHING ABOUT HIM. HE IS A VERY GOOD SURGEON AND HE REALLY DOES CARE ABOUT HIS PATIENTS HE GIVES YOU OPTIONS. HE VISITED ME EVERYDAY WHILE I WAS IN THE HOSPITAL EVEN WHEN I HAD MY DRINK TEST THE DAY AFTER MY SURGERY HE WAS DOWN THERE HELPING ME. FOR AN AFTERCARE PROGRAM THEY DO HAVE A PHONE NUMBER YOU CAN CALL IF YOU NEED ANYTHING OR IF YOU HAVE ANY QUESTIONS. MY DOCTOR WAS VERY HONEST WITH ME HE BELIEVED THAT I DID NOT NEED THIS SURGERY BECAUSE I WAS ON THE RIGHT TRACK ON LOSING THE WEIGHT MYSELF AND TAKING INTO CONSIDERATION THAT MY ENDOCRINOLOGIST HAS TAKEN ME OFF MY DIABETES MEDICATION HE THOUGHT I WAS DOING VERY WELL. EVEN THE DAY OF SURGERY HE ASKED ME ARE YOU SURE AIDA YOU WANT TO GO THRU WITH THIS AND I SAID YES DOCTOR HE WAS LIKE OK..ON A SCALE 1-10 HE IS A 10 IN MY BOOKS. BOTH ARE GREAT EVERYTHING WENT WELL. THE NURSES IN THE HOSPITAL WERE WONDERFUL AS WELL.
