I went to my DH appointment w/Dr Bright yesterday 4/23/02. My hubby is MO & will be having RNY hopefully this June. Both of us liked the Dr. He was very thorough & easy to follow.

My first impression of Dr. Bright was that he was too skinny to appreciate the challenges of being obese - it's funny, but those of us who are obese think we're the only sensitive ones.

As we spoke, however, I realized he wasn't judging me at all - in fact, he was actually offering me a way to join the ranks of others who have fought the battle of the bulge before, and won (or should I say lost?). He asked a lot of questions, and complimented me on the fact that I had done a lot of research on my own before coming to see him.

His nurse, on the other hand, seemed rather confused...like she wasn't quite sure what to do with me. She thought she would weigh me on the Dr. scales, but I told her that it didn't go high enough. This seemed to embarrass her. I thought that was strange, since I was the one who should have been embarrassed by that. And, Dr. Bright seemed to have a lot of confidence in the person who does the insurance paperwork. However, when I called in a couple weeks after my initial visit, I was told that my insurance carrier ALWAYS denies so she wasn't going to submit the paperwork. As it turned out, I decided to go to another insurance carrier, so it was a mout point. However, I thought it rather brazen of her to take it upon herself not to submit the papers so I could at least get started on some kind of appeal, if that was the route I wanted to take. Oh well, as I said, mout point now.

I was particularly impressed with the Dr.'s track record...Zero complications, Zero deaths. That really put my mind to ease. I think the fact that Dr. Bright is a general surgeon, not just one that specializes in WLS, is good in that he doesn't become rote in his surgical skills. There is enough variety to keep his mind sharp.

Since I have yet to have the surgery, I have to go by what others say about his surgical competence and bedside manner....and bottom line is, they seem more than satified with the care he gives them.

March 15,02 I had my first informational meeting with Dr. Bright and I was very pleased. I took my mother with me so she could take notes and help ask questions. We both felt he was very clear with answers and I felt like he wanted me to be well informed. I didn't feel rushed,I felt totally at ease. His nurse was very quiet she only weighed me and took us into the exam room.I would recommend Dr. Bright to anyone seeking answers. I haven't had surgery yet so I'll update on that experience later.

My first impression of Dr. Bright is that he is very young, but I have done my research and knew that he was a very good doctor. He explained everything to me and answered all my questions completely. Prior to my appointment, I was having some reservations and anxieties, but after talking to Dr. Bright, I am very sure this is what I want to do. He made me feel comfortable, secure, and confidant.

I am waiting on Consult. But will keep everyone up to date. Dr. Bright's office has been wonderful with my problems with insurance. They are a wonderful staff and I haven't even seen the Dr. They helped me with getting the appeal started and so far have called at least 2 time since my being denied on 8-28-01. They are willing to help if they can.
9-26-01 Met with Dr. Brigh today. He is very young. He is also very nice person to talk to. He did not rush through the consultation and answered every question my husband and I had. He seems like he will have a very pleasant bedside manner. The one thing that I really liked about him was that he treated me like a person and not some number waiting to loose weight. He was also very informative about the surgery and what he expected from me as well. I at this point would refer others to him. He was also very surprised that my insurance has not approved since I have so many co-morbidities. He infomed me today that he thought the one reason that I was not approved already is that my PCP was not really for me having this surgery. He said that he was going to resubmitt the authorization and that there should be no problems. He was really great. We spent an entire hour with him and he did not rush us out so that he could see the next patient. He made sure that all our questions and concerns for this surgery were answered. He was just great.

Very thorough and and will take the time to explain whateverI felt was important enough to ask about. I chose Dr. Bright on the basis that my PCP had worked with him before. I decided to continue after the initial meeting because I was impressed with his manner and attitude, he is very serious and diligent in creating the envionment of have the best care possible in relation to the work and surgery he does. He is awesome, and his pre-auth nurse DaNae is outstanding. Make sure you ask if you need to do tests and or paperwork, and make sure they go to DaNae. Twice I had delays that set this back 2 to 3 months because, paperwork did not get from point A to DaNae. Especially if you are going through the state. Also, be prepared to reschedule if you have had former abdominal surgeries, because HE will insist of making everything is alright to sart with.

My first impression of Dr. Bright was that he was friendly and wanted to help me. He seems very shy until you have talked to him for awhile. I was the first appointment of the day and his nurse wasn't sure about what to do with me. She wasn't sure if she should weigh me or take my blood pressure. I loved the fact that he didn't treat me any differently than he would someone who was thin. He spent about an hour with me and explained everything thoroughly. I will post more about him after I have been approved and have had the surgery. I went in for my pre-op and I feel so good about Dr. Bright. He knows what he is talking about. He made me feel very secure in what I am about ready to do. He is very friendly and makes you feel like you are his one and only patient.

I met my Surgeon on 7-13-00. I was so nervous. He came in to meet me and was so nice and comforting. He spent 45 mins talking to me in regards to the surgery and the proceedure in detail. I asked several questions and he always answered them with no problem. He is a younger Dr and was trained with 1 of the best in Washington State. I have no worries about my surgeon now. I'm very please and happy. His office staff was very polite, helpful and very nice.
12-12-00 Well I'm 7 days POST-OP and I have to admit I love everything about my surgeon. He is the greatest, caring, compassionate, great bedside manner, personal with his patients and definately understanding to the obese side of the world. I couldn't have asked for anyone BETTER.....I would not hesitate my life in this Dr's hands for a second....
